If you keep your mind open, opportunities abound. My hope is that he ends up in the starting rotation, if not this year then next. And I don't think Andy Pettitte will be back, so I anticipate that the Yankees will keep Hughes a starter, taking the long view. But in the meantime, Hughes has taken the opportunity to further impress the Yankees and fans with his maturity and his abilities. And I think no matter where he ends up, he is getting invaluable experience and gaining confidence immeasurably. Hey, he could do a lot worse than ending up as Mariano's heir apparent.
