i got a great trade for the yanks and jays

yanks get
hill -free agent after next season when they want to break bank for halladay our answer to pedroia with a slick glove would be a superstar in new york and perennial all star who is extremely clutch. as you can tell lov aaron hill.
rios -looking to trade 5yrs 50plus mill left on contract looking to unload money to keep docnext year a great defender with a cannon arm and long could put him in place he has a ton of talent still only 27.

jays get
cano- great potential but not yankee material needs a change of scenery and should play in a small market so he wont be ridiculed for his laziness which he deserves. and only 6mill per for four years.
melky - the guy has grown on me but he can go to toronto become a full time right fielder he is also cheap for them.
1 B level prospect like shelley or miranda take your pick

it makes sense both melky and cano are cheap for them hill is heading for a big pay day and bring more of the gritiness yanks are trying to get back too . rios has big time talent 5 tool can run, hit, hit for power , and defend at a high level and how athletic is an future outfield of

Pete-

Surprised you have mentioned this to the "put Joba in the bullpen crowd", but remember that Mo was a failed starter- came ups as a swingman in 1995 and had 10 starts with an ERA over 5, only 1.7K/BB.

SJ - I think one of the publications yesterday had an article talking about how Mo was probably one of the best finds/bargains in all of baseball...

I was in procrastination mode yesterday so I'm pretty sure it would be hard for me to track it back down :)

I think folks ought to do what Hughes is doing. Take it a day at a time and see what happens.

You don't have to make hard and fast decisions right now.

Phil is helping himself and the team greatly right now.

I say, focus on that and not what may or may not happen 2-3 years from now.

On another note, is the $3000.00 spent to sign Mariano Rivera the best bargain in baseball history? It just may be.

Agreed Hokie. It is easier to find a guy to pitch 1 good inning than a guy who can pitch 6-8 good innings. Phil and Joba are starters. Most teams would love to have 2 young pitchers like them!

I know Cashman has a way of saying one thing and meaning another, but I believe him when he strongly states that while Phil is helping us out of the pen now, he is undoubtedly a starter, and as is the case with Joba, any one who would make a good starting pitcher would make a good reliever, but you don't keep a guy with 3 good pitches in the pen...just like Joba, Hughes has too many tools not to become a starter

Phil Hughes appears to have a great attitude. If you keep your mind open, opportunities abound. My hope is that he ends up in the starting rotation, if not this year then next. And I don't think Andy Pettitte will be back, so I anticipate that the Yankees will keep Hughes a starter, taking the long view.

But in the meantime, Hughes has taken the opportunity to further impress the Yankees and fans with his maturity and his abilities. And I think no matter where he ends up, he is getting invaluable experience and gaining confidence immeasurably.

Hey, he could do a lot worse than ending up as Mariano's heir apparent. (Though, again, I hope that's not the case.)
