"Giving up 6 runs and leaving with the bases loaded in the 6th inning to a horrible hitting team in Seattle is pretty lame. He’s not a bust (yet) but he doesn’t exactly inspire
confidence that he will shut down the opposition, either."

The funniest part of the whole comment is definitely the word "yet."

I know the Yanks had a farm team in Richmond a long time ago...that's where my Yankee fandom was born. I wasn't alive at the time, but my father was a young tobacco farm boy and once a year my grandparents would pack everyone up and go see the real Yankees come into town to scrimmage the farm team (I would imagine in ST)...he got to see some Yankee greats come to town and the family has been full of Yankees ever since! Now, sadly, Richmond has no baseball and seems to be having a real tough time getting it together enough to build a new ballpark...ugh

but Pete, Cy Young never lost a game...wait...well I'm sure Nolan Ryan never lost a game...oh wait....but but, I'm sure there's at least one great pitcher out there who's never lost a...wait what? every great pitcher's lost a game? that's just crazy!

but seriously Pete, posting an email like this and responding to it is kind of like showing a streaker during a sporting event on television...you're just giving recognition to something that doesn't deserve it and asking for more...

CompassRosy July 2nd, 2009 at 4:14 pm

...Com’ on, Jason, surprise me (and you too, bats – got your work cut out for you with CC!)

I’m thinking that Russell’s overdue for one of his moon shots...
==========================================================

Well, whadayaknow?

Jason DID surprise me. Sure, he only made it through 4, but considering the flu symptoms he was dealing with, that was good enough to get to the bullpen that I finally recognize.

I was proud of the bats (the base running, not so much) and I just had a feeling about Mr. Muscle Moonshot ;-)
(7K's in-a-row be damned!)

Congrats again on the series, Yankee fans!

I'll be looking forward to my M's feeling a little NYY love this weekend ;-)

*"Oh, and the Mariners came to New York having won eight of their previous nine series. The other team does try on occasion."*

Pete, when the Yankees lost one game to the Nationals, you called it a travesty.
