Hinske didn't lose the game for the Yankees.

It was a combination of horrible umping, bad breaks, and some missed opportunities. No one player is responsible for the loss today, in fact, I would put our loss more on the shoulders of the umps than the players.

Hinske swung at ball four, but you can't pin the blame for the loss on him when Arod & Tex made a quick two outs in the inning.

SJ44-

Go back and read the posts. You were saying Swisher was a cuprit in the game in the context of the posts that were posted before yours, which you were replying to.

This 2-2 count stuff is nonsense. He swung at the ball he thought he could hit. He didn't get a hit and that's all there was to it. Saying he could have worked another count is true, but what count? And would it have made a difference? Who knows?

You are just ticked because I called you out on misrepresenting what I said about Andy earlier.

They beat Johan Santana and Roy Halladay in the last 3 weeks.

They would have had 3-4 more runs off Romero today with better umpiring and the Jays made two great plays for him.

Are you going to put Ricky Romero in the same class as Josh Beckett? Please.

The Yankees have also hit Beckett pretty well the last few years.

They are 5-2 against the Jays so far this year. They have to be doing something right.

Wave,

Give me a break with your nonsense. I didn't say Swisher cost them the game. What part of English don't you understand?

Its theorizing that a guy who has worked the count full 55 times this year, couldn't work a count to 2-2?

That's not possible? Please, give me a break.

One thing the guy does well is work counts. I would have liked to have seen him do it in that AB and that's all.

If you have a hard time with that, sorry.

Boo hoo, the Red Sox have better numbers in something than the Yankees. That must make me a Red Sox fan, I mean I can't possibly criticize the Yankees and still be a Yankees fan?

The numbers are there that prove the point. The Yankees have to get better with RISP, because you can cover it up in the regular season, but it is a glaring weakness in the post season if you cannot scratch out runs against tough pitchers.

It's true and it's obvious to anyone who has watched this team during the season that they can get into spots where they really press with runners on base, up and down the lineup. Sure, the umpires and the pitchers put them in a bad spot today, but 2 for 12 with RISP is AWFUL!

At some point you have to take advantage, and the fact that they haven't is why they are in 2nd place and not 1st right now. Even a 4-4 record against Boston and they are up 6.5 games right now, and those games have been prime examples of games in which we have not taken advantage of opportunities with runners on base.

But once again, I'm not saying the Red Sox are awesome or a Red Sox fan. I'm making a point about the Yankees, which is that they have been mediocre in these spots this year, and they are covering it up while winning, but it becomes pretty obvious when they stop getting some good breaks like happened against the Nats and Marlins a few weeks back.

The Yankees teams of many years back hit far better than .259 with RISP. That's why they won the big games, not because their guys had "heart," but because they had good at bats with runners on base and made pitchers pay for their mistakes.

As for Oakland being a pushover for the Boston Red sox, think again. I'm not exactly looking foreward to seeing the yanks facing that pitching staff. Those young guys can pitch against any team in baseball.

It’s not a praise of the Red Sox, it’s a citation to prove a point. You have a harder time scoring off a pitcher like Josh Beckett or Ricky Romero today when he’s going decently if you run yourself out of innings or don’t get runners in from 3rd with less than 2 outs. The Yankees have done a bad job with that this year, and it has to improve if the Yankees are to go deep in the postseason.

But the yankees are better than the red sox in that situation???
