imagesI’m sure we have some Rangers fans among the blog populace. Today at 1 p.m., head over to ProTalkLive page for a live video chat with LoHud.com’s hockey guy, Rick Carpiniello.

Carp is one of the top hockey writers in the country. So check him out and come with questions.

Our chat series is sponsored by Friedrich Air Conditioning.

Question – Just putzing around and was wondering if anyone knew how the Sheffield trade is working out? Humberto Sanchez, RHP Kevin Whelan and RHP Anthony Claggett? Any of them making a mark?

  7. miggs

Who gives a crap about hockey? Its the forgotten sport.

I doubt many people on here will be tuning into the “hockey chat” instead of the yankee game, which starts at the same time.

Does anyone know if the Dolan stooges are still trying to build a new Garden? This was a popular topic as recently as a year ago, and then it just went away, but they seemed very serious about it at the time.

  9. Guy Incognito

Got a couple of Islanders fans among the blogulace as well, Pete.

I do have a Rangers question, however, that I will submit to Carp…how long before John Tortorella makes Marian Gaborik cry?

    No new MSG

  11. Scary times.

Nothing wrong with a little cross promotion. I wonder how long it will be before we have to pay a little extra for your content and the forum you provide. I’m happy you have this blog and I hope those making the tough decisions today truly know what you offer… tough day for Gannett employeers everywhere – I wish you all well.

  12. Trevor

They are planning to renovate the current one. Which was suppose to be this year but it’s been pushed back and will start renovation next year.
Those teal and purple MSG seats look hideous.

SJ, just saw your post now. I take it Nuke LaLoosh is sort of a country boy who’s a bit “out there”? I will rent the movie..maybe over the weekend.

I know AJ has said that he wishes that the young guns in Florida had some guiding force (re: a grizzled vet), but they didn’t –plus, he was young and stupid anyway (his words). LOL I wonder if they ever put that blooper back in the blooper reel of him throwing a FB through a van’s plate glass window (I guess he was sick of Billy the Marlin, lol).

He’s lucky to have had Doc come into his career and his life – some people just take longer to grow up and it seems maybe he has now. He still has some good years left in him – some guys never figure it out and their career ends with only regrets and what ifs.

AJ was traded for Al Leiter once a long time ago – and that was a good thing, too. I don’t think he could have handled NY back then – maybe not even a couple of years ago. Now, I think it says a lot when he made a point to go up to Pete and tell him that he enjoys the give and take with the media. He’s still maintained some of that wild and crazy guy (which is a good thing), but has reigned that in……also, I’m always rooting for a Yankee no-hitter, but I hope AJ gets another one because he’s so embarrassed by the one he threw in San Diego.

  14. Mac Daddy

Rangers are in desperate need of a #1 center as well as a top defenseman to play alongside staal…glad gomez is gone, just need to unload drury- who is not a #1 center

“and I hope those making the tough decisions today truly know what you offer… tough day for Gannett employeers everywhere – I wish you all well.”

What do you mean? Are they laying people off today?

  16. S.A.--It's a marathon, not a sprint

They are starting the renovations next year? I didn’t realize that

If anyone wants to see what they have planned:

  17. The best.

Betsy, Bull Durham is the best – I’ve seen it a million times and while I’m the opposite of Sarandon’s character, Annie Savoy (she’s a free-spirit and I’m a married lawyer with four kids), I’d still switch places with her for one season… definitely see the movie ASAP.

The Yanks aren’t likely to get Halladay. Don’t get sky-high over it only to be disappointed later.

The Yanks are playing great right now, aren’t they? We can win even if we don’t make any moves.

Getting Halladay would compromise our offense next year and down the road. I don’t want our outfield next year to be a rotation of Gardner, Cabrera, Swisher and Jackson. That OF won’t get the job done when the competition is the Sox and the Rays.

People seemed to be hitting on Cameron earlier, but he’s actually playing quite well this year. We don’t need him, but he’s actually been playing better than either Melky or Gardner.

  20. Al from BK

Eh hockey, I just want to catch the Yankee game today, but I’m at work :(

  21. Scary times.

    Yes miggs.

  22. Al from BK

“People seemed to be hitting on Cameron earlier, but he’s actually playing quite well this year. We don’t need him, but he’s actually been playing better than either Melky or Gardner.”

The last thing this team needs is another late 30’s outfielder. Melky and Gardner are a good tandem in CF. In regard to Halladay, us Yankee fans are just being greedy :)

  23. Wait till they come to OUR house AGAIN

Al from BK-I suspicously remember a long time ago back when I didn’t post and only read, you claiming that the season was over after losing five in a row to LA, Boston, and Tampa Bay. Was that you?

  24. Wait till they come to OUR house AGAIN

Wave Your Hat-The outfield wouldn’t get it done, but the rotation would.

When Halladay is pitching a lot of the times you only need to score 1 or 2 runs and then you’re set.

  25. Brian in 702

no love for NYI on this blog?

  26. Al from BK

“Al from BK-I suspicously remember a long time ago back when I didn’t post and only read, you claiming that the season was over after losing five in a row to LA, Boston, and Tampa Bay. Was that you?”

Don’t think I said the season was over, maybe that we would not win the division but I don’t think I called the season if I did it was strictly venting.

  27. Wait till they come to OUR house AGAIN

    Al from BK-Fair enough.

People get topo worked up over the game threads and what’s said on them, you’re running on emotion, and when so much emotion is being used you can’t really expect logic on the game threads.

  28. Wave Your Hat

“Wave Your Hat-The outfield wouldn’t get it done, but the rotation would.

When Halladay is pitching a lot of the times you only need to score 1 or 2 runs and then you’re set.”

July 4, 2009. Yanks beat Halladay 6-5. The Jays needed to score more runs. Halladay is not a magic bullet.

    …Miggs

Certainly a lot of replies for a “forgotten sport.”

Who are Sid the Kid and Ovechkin, Alex. Its forgotten to YOU, because ur team stinks–right?

Hockey is the fastest growing sport”–is what u meant.

Of course my g-father and dad are both in the hockey HOF; so I take some acception to ur stmt.

Personally–I don’t ever watch Pro Basket Ball, so Hockey is my winter sport.

Jorge could take some lessons from any goalie on How TO BLOCK A Pitch.

    ;o)

Long Island has a hockey team? Really?
