"You beat every team the same – good pitching and timely hitting.
It’s the same formula for everyone no matter the opponent."

Wow - you really don't know a single thing about baseball, do you?

having ace spot start hurt our pen big time.
that put him out til after the asb.

what that did is force us to use robertson, coke, etc in big spots.

also the strength that we had with 6 starters is gone.
hughes in the pen,wang hurt.
joba & pettitte are pitching terrible also.

look for cashman to get a pitcher.
probably not halladay but a solid 3-5 starter.
imo we need a #3 starter so pettitte can slot in at 4 & joba at 5.

the problem we have last year & this year is we keep slotting our pitchers wrong.

pettitte is not a 3 & joba is not a 4 or 5.

if we can get a solid # 3 pitcher i think we are ok.

G.Love,

Look I agree with you. Look at the at bats that Teix in particular had today. He's trying to do way too much at the plate. Was it really that shocking that Lackeye threw him a 3-2 curve ball after he looked so bad on the first one? Why is he swinging so hard so often?

Cano - it's why he's so bad with men on base. Why does he keep pulling outside pitches with men on base when he doesn't particularly pull the ball that much without men on base? I don't know.

I don't know what the solution is. I really don't.

And it's not an excuse in any way - it's the opposite - it's the problem.

You're right - they need to stop pressing in big spots. And until they are willing to simply get base hits and score runs one at a time the offense is going to be inconsistent and miss opportunities.

The team needs to relax at the plate and let their talent take over.

But that apparently is very difficult to do - especially in NY.

I don't know how to fix it. It's a problem that in many ways the more you focus on it to make it better the worse it gets.

LOL I LOVE AJ - but he's not the ace. Hey, if he pitches like he has been and he does that most of the time (not all of it, that's unfair), then maybe you can call him the co-ace. He's got a lot to prove in that regards .....but that's fine. AJ has pitched very, very well and done a terrific job. He's stayed healthy and given us innings. We can't ask for more from him.

GF, you're right. Now folks are worried about going to LA to play the Angels in the first round of the playoffs should we be the wild card. Actually, I'd be worried too because I do find it impossible for the Yankees to win there......and something always goes wrong against that team. That said, It's foolish to think about that now.

I guess Alex said in his post-game that the team has to play better against these teams (I guess meaning the Sox and Angels).......so that should please some folks
