Bodh: Great post. Include me in the list of extreme Joba fans. I have been following him since he first came up and have been in some big/nasty discussions with non-fans of Joba. I'm am so glad that the "Joba to the pen" people have pretty much given up on that. Now it is poor Phil's turn.

Your description of the game is perfect. When he is pitching he is very stoic, usually, but lets that emotion out when he gets a tough out. If Joba played in KC or Phoenix he would not get the scrutiny or bad publicity for his on the mound activities.

Was so pleased that he went home to Nebraska for the ASG break. His dad has always been closest to him and a task master so the visit was a wise choice.

Yesterday's Joba was the old Joba of 07 and 08. If you haven't already, please read Rebecca's "Joba Theory". It is well written and offers a great theory.

Your post made my day!!

I know that everyone here wants the Yankees to get Roy Halladay, but I have a feeling that if the Yankees do make a trade before the deadline it will be for a relief pitcher. Huston Street and Heath Bell are the first choices but they unavailable. Jose Valverde, on the other hand, is available and he would come cheap.

They couldn’t even spell Texieira’s name right every time they showed his name on Regis.

They spelled his name Texieria every time they showed him.

Agree on Bruney - philosophically would trust Melancon in that situation; but they aren't going to do that with Hughes sitting in the BP.

The thing about Melancon is he can give you more than one inning at a time.

===============================================

We should hire Mickey Rivers to mentor Gardner. Heck, Rivers looks like he could still be an effective pinch runner.

I don't want Melancon or Bruney coming in a tie game or a 1 run game in the 8th inning. But I'd like to see them throw meaningful innings earlier in the game. Tonight could be the night we see them.
