Agree with you, Pete, on Bald Vinny.
Last season (the Final season) I had the privilege to be in the Stadium for the first time in my life. In fact, we went to two games on July (Rangers and Red Sox)
Well, prior to both games, my son and I went to Bald Vinny's T-shirts stand, and he was really nice with us. We told him we were from México and that the main reason of our trip was to be in the Stadium, and he was happy to hear that. We acquired some T-shirts (designed by him) and took some pictures with him. A good dude. You're right.

It's such great ironic use of what is supposed to be some shameful mark. LOL.

Bodhi,
Thanks for the link. Then it falls into the “rarely” column. I’m certainly not saying that Sox fans are better fans, just saying that Yank fans aren’t the “best fans ever”, other than they root for the greatest team.
It’s sort of silly anyway, “which team has the best fans?!?” But you can’t overlook that A-Rod was booed for nearly an entire season, and then Jeter and Mo were booed at times a few years ago.
====

I wrote on the other blog entry that Yanks have more fans, thus the idiot percentage is higher, relatively speaking, than any other fan base.

I will say that the ARod booing, although present, was still a minority, and I and many season ticket holders around me recoiled at it. The night Rivera was "booed" I was there also, and it was a negligible number of jerks.

I don't wish to generalize but haha, I will: fans who consistently boo their own players are not intelligent baseball fans. They just are not.

bodhisattva, you obviously didn’t get the ESPN memo…we don’t say negative things about the Red Sox or their fans! They weren’t booing Ortiz, they were awwing in sympathy for his struggles…
====

They weren't actually booing, they were crying WITH Ortiz, as in:

"Boo-hoo, we love you Papi and when you hurt, WE hurt...."

# Boston Dave 2.0 July 23rd, 2009 at 11:35 am

vb03,

my Sox friends, unprovoked, have already started in with

“relax… come back in September… the Yankees have been in the rear view mirror for the better part of the last decade”

to which I replied

“odd, because I thought the Sox had won just one division title in the last 13 seasons?”

------------------

That is hilarious. They've gotta be shaking in their collective boots now, with Wakefield out, they have two reliable starters, and that's about it.

I don't think they'll go away, but the two teams are going in opposite directions right now.

"Hokiehill while we’re talking about that

Eric Hinske >>> Any Duncan"

I think we can all agree on that, but we have to compare Hinske to LaRoche...while both players will help their new teams somewhat, they will both be fillers with only so much impact on the race so how they compare is of minimal importance...the real thing I'm driving at is that if the Boston deals are what we have to worry about them "breaking from the pack" then I'm not worried.
