The Second Annual LoHud Yankees Blog Outing is back on.

The game we were going to attend in Scranton on July 5 was postponed. But Ron has us booked for Aug. 30 against Pawtucket. It’s a 5:05 start time.

The outing will be held in the 3rd base party box at PNC Field. The cost is $32 per person except for children 2 and under, who are free. This includes the game ticket, program, hat, all you can eat food (hot dogs, hamburgers, BBQ chicken, pasta salad, cole slaw, baked beans, watermelon, cookies) and unlimited soda and water. The party box will also have a dedicated bartender servicing a cash bar.

There will be other gifts as well courtesy of the Yankees and The Journal News. T-shirts, team caps, water bottles, baseball books, etc. You will come away with plenty of stuff, believe me.

As a result of the date change, there are approximately 10 tickets available originally purchased by people who cannot make the rescheduled outing. If interested in tickets, please e-mail Ron at yankslifer@yahoo.com as soon as possible with the number of tickets you’d like.

He will then put you in contact with someone who bought tickets to arrange payment. Once the other party confirms that you have paid them, the tickets will be left for you at the will-call window.

PNC Field is an easy drive from the metropolitan area. So come out to the game, hang out and talk Yankees baseball and see the prospects. It’ll be a fun time.

    Go-Go-Gadget Drainage System!

An easy drive from the metropolitan area…not so easy from DC metropolitan area…but I did it last year and it was worth it.

Dang! We’ll be at the Trenton Thunder game that day. Maybe next year. :)

For all of those people who tried to go from the NYC area and got stuck because of the traffic/accident, consider taking route 46 west to 611 north. It takes a little bit longer, but if you have the time, it’s a nice drive.

I was pretty bummed when the game was canceled (found out about 15 minutes outside of Scranton), but my GF and I had a good time taking the back roads and ended up camping that night somewhere in the Poconos.

Hopefully, they can get the game in on the 30th. Can’t wait!

looks like the Yanks should aim for 3/4 this series

Friday (Anderson) and Sunday (Braden) might be tough

    Anderson hasn’t given up a run in 21 innings…

    Anderson hasn’t given up a run in 21 innings…

    =================

That only means he’s due to give up a run or two. ;)

    Stultus/Jerkface,

right on – good way to look at it :)

  9. teddy July 23rd, 2009 at 10:41 am

memo to john henry mark t better than adam l

brett face nyy in april and gave 5 runs in about 5 innings

  10. Jerkface July 23rd, 2009 at 10:41 am

Last time we saw Brett Anderson he gave up 9 hits 3 HRs and 5 ER in 5 IP. He has matured a lot since then, but our team smokes left handed pitching

“Sizemore is one of the best players in the AL.

His injuries have really slowed him down this season but every team in the majors would love to have him.

    The dude is a stud.”

I don’t want to trade for anyone with injury question marks…just not worth the risk.

It would take me just under 3 hours to go from Long Island to Scranton. On the Office they do the drive in no time at all from Corporate in NYC to Scranton

    The Red Sox problems

It feels like the U.S.S. Red Sox is taking on water and the front office is working frantically to plug the leak, and LaRoche may or may not help. He typically is a strong second half player and is the type of hitter who can put the team on his back for a week or two weeks, but he also is known to be a sensitive sort who doesn’t like criticism. Maybe he’ll get on a serious roll, and maybe not. Maybe he’ll help the Red Sox, and maybe not.

But there are no great solutions out on the market for the Red Sox, either. They could acquire Victor Martinez, theoretically, but they would have to overpay to get him; they would have to give up their most valued asset, young pitching. They could make a move to trade for Matt Holliday, but while Holliday has had some good games this week, he hasn’t had a good season and Boston couldn’t feel 100 percent confident that he would pay off for them — and defensively, he would be a square peg for a round hole for Boston, because he would have to play right field, with Jason Bay limited to playing left.

The Red Sox are like the Cubs in this way: Simply put, the guys who are playing for them now simply must perform better.

J.D. Drew is among those Red Sox hitters buried in a slump, as Adam Kilgore writes.

Boston’s maneuvering sets them up for something big, writes Nick Cafardo, who wonders if the Red Sox might go after Roy Halladay. Mark Kotsay appears to be the odd man out.

Don’t underestimate Sizemore. I’d love to have him on my team tomorrow and so would every other GM.

But Cleveland has no intention of trading him so it’s all a moot point.

I don’t care about his issues this season. He’s still one of the best players in the league.

    Stultus-

We also took 611 back to avoid the accident and it was one of the most beautiful drives.

  16. Barrows July 23rd, 2009 at 11:40 am

The cancellation was a blessing in disguise for me. I wasn’t going to make the first one…I can make this one, so my tickets are useful for me again.

  17. Ham Fighters July 23rd, 2009 at 12:14 pm

im way past halladay. no way i give up what they are looking for, nor do i take well’s contract, so its a non-starter to me.

i think the days of this kind of payroll trade are coming to an end. to take on a huge contract while giving up your future cost-controlled production doesnt make any sense. kudos for cash for coming to this realization.

i think the jay’s will end up either keeping doc or moving him for less than they had hoped to an n.l. team. no way will they take a lesser package from a division team, but they may be desparate enough financially that they have to deal him no matter what.

  18. Ham Fighters July 23rd, 2009 at 12:19 pm

about the scranton game, im in the same boat as barrow, i couldnt make the earlier date, but i can make this one as of now. i had a good time at last year’s and i will hopefully be there again this year. although i doubt LoHud will pop for T-shirts this year!

  19. RonH July 23rd, 2009 at 12:29 pm

Ham Fighters, don’t sell Pete Abraham, the Journal News and the NYY short. I’m sure Pete has plenty of stuff as he stated above, he said the same thing to me the day of the original outing after I told him the game was canceled. Keep the faith.

  20. JR July 23rd, 2009 at 12:47 pm

They fixed the drainage and the stadium is usable again

  21. saucY July 23rd, 2009 at 1:12 pm

that is the day after my birthday. if everything goes as planned, i should be just waking up when the first pitch is thrown. ;)

  22. BLACKACCORD July 23rd, 2009 at 1:42 pm

Pete, any plans to do one in the Trenton Thunder stadium?? I know there are quite a few fans in the blog from jersey..

  23. saucY July 23rd, 2009 at 1:54 pm

blackaccord, try to put one together.
