20 games up ???…wahoo !!!
Regarding Boston, pitching isn’t the real problem for them. It’s their lineup. Other than Pedroia and Youkilis right now it’s pretty bad. Bay is struggling, hit .230 in June and below .200 in July. He is not Manny Ramirez, I repeat, Jason Bay is not Manny Ramirez. Drew is bad. Varitek? Enough said. Papi is still hitting .230 or whatever. Ellsbury is ok. Nick Green has come back to earth. This lineup is so much different without Papi raking and Manny protecting him and mashing. They need a bat more than they need pitching. They could also use Mike Lowell back.
Anyone watching Mike & Mike? The last thing covered before going to commercial was the Ben R (spelling) story. The commercial? Ben R in a Dick’s Sporting Good’s ad. Talk about a bad juxtaposition.
the yanks aren’t “20 games up.” that would be incredible. they are “20 games over .500″.
Amazing (and deplorable) that a clip of the Erin Andrews tape was actually played live on the air on cable television last night. Unbelievable that the mainstream media twice now has managed to simultaneously project outrage about it while also displaying images from it. I hope she names the people in the MSM still distrubting the tape in any form in her lawsuit.
Love this…. and 8-2 or 9-1 start outta the second half gate would be amazing. And you know the O’s have the ability to be tough on the sox… especially after being swept by the yanks.. all in close games.
But we shall see… none of this means anything if the yanks go and get swept Aug 6th – 9th….
The Yankee swagger is back. It’s easy to see that Boston is not the same since Manny was around as protection for Ortiz. So what do they do ? Go out and get Adam LaRoche and Chris Duncan who will never be thought of as difference makers. A very Gammons overrated lineup has become exposed.

ESPN this morning showed the ERA stat and batting average stat for the Sox after the break. I can’t recall the exact numbers, but the era was over 4 and the BA was close to or under 2…I’d say both have been a problem. Not that I care what’s causing them to lose, as long as they keep doing it!
Nice to gain some ground before the Sox head home and face the Os.
Hopefully these recent games end the “AJ doesn’t like to work w/ Posada” and “Joba needs to go back to the pen” themes.
With Joba’s innings limit (he has 97 IP) he will eventually get to the pen in mid to late august I’d guess. Hughes also has an Innings Limit (he is at 77 IP) The Yankees need another Starting PItcher… if the Yanks make no moves we’ll have Mitre or Pettitte as our third starter in the division series.
is there a deal imminent? Will be Snell? Lee? Meche? Buerhle? Vazquez?
We need someone to fill out the rotation.
