Name the last good trade that Cashman made for a reliever.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Those frontal lobes you've got are there for your use. Use 'em.

The trade for Damaso Marte was an excellent trade.

"name the last good trade that cashman made for a reliever."

are you complaining about their bullpen? cashman gets credit for drafting pitchers in bulk and having young talent that can step in. the last good pitching trade i remember was chacon, who saved their season that year. that's the kind of small-fish trade minaya has no talent for.

I think Scott Downs would be a good acquisition. But not at the cost of any top prospects.
What would be fair? Wilkins DeLaRosa and Jon Albaladejo. Not more than that. With Marte on the mend, Downs would give the Yanks' a third LH in the bullpen. That'd be nice.

Ian Snell could be interesting. A lot of observers predicted great success for this guy. He hit a speedbump in 2008 and was awful earlier this season for the Bucs. But he's been super-dominant in AAA. He's not a future 20-game winner, or anything like that. But if you see him as an alternative to Mitre, he looks pretty good.
Jarrod Washburn would be even better. But not for a ridiculous price. He's not really as good as he's been lately, but he'd be solid. He'd cost Zach McAllister (once he gets off the DL) and a lesser prospect.
Musts to avoid: Arroyo, Garland.

Floating bullpen trade talk is done to drive down the price of what we really need (a starter), nothing more.

looking at releivers seems like a smart move. having a solid bridge (which we have now) is the key for us for the next few years

i was thinking that shelly duncan would make sense for the mets. he's a good guy who will never have a future with the yankees now that they have teixera, and it'd be nice to see him find a niche somewhere. minaya is terrible at helping his team with small trades. makes you appreciate cashman a little more.

It appears that the Yanks are stretching Kroenke out at Scranton. He had a 4 inning start today. Is he getting ready for a trade or a September callup? Kontos is going nowhere. He’s scheduled for elbow surgery. Also, they have been stretching out Trenton relief pitcher, Kanekoa Texeira with 6 straight starts.

Anthony Clagett pitched 4 innings as a starter in one of the double-header games this weekend. I think the Yankee minor league sysytem is shorthanded for starters. In Milwaulkee they used to say, "Spahn and Sain and pray for rain"...in Scranton its, "Igawa and Towers and pray for showers"
