UPDATE, 7:56 p.m.: The Rays are playing Black Crowes tunes when A-Rod comes up. Pretty funny.

Glad to see for the most part they are handling the young pitchers well, look at tonight for Joba. Phil is lights out in the pen, and I look for a similar pattern next year for Phil in the rotation as CMW or Andy's replacement. Then possibly Melancon as your new wonderkid in the bullpen. At least they are not handling them like the way Leiter was back in the late 80's. He had to get out of there before he could get his career on track.

Best quote of the night:
—————————————
Betsy, thanks for coming over from the dark side on Joba, it’s much sunnier over here…

"Maybe the drunk will get traded to the Jays so we dont have to worry about him hurting Youk."

------

lots of worrying going on in Boston

- losing games
- Papelbon losing his edge
- Daisuke ripping the team
- aging players
- rotation falling apart
- the realization that their teams used PEDs just as much as anybody else
- John Henry's financial downfall

I think Youk getting hit by a pitch is a ways down right now.

As a Yanks fan who now lives 3 miles from fenway, The conversations at work have been interesting since the break.

Jaba threw to the wrong person. The Rays are not going to tolerate this kind of behavior from anybody. Kudos to Garza for taking care of this from the start. Lets see if Jaba does this again. I bet you not because he knows that if does it again somebody is going to take the fall.

----------------------------------------------------------------

Snore. Joba did exactly what a power pitcher is supposed to do. He backed Longoria off the plate, then got him to pop up on a pitch to the outside corner. He was still in Longoria's head when he struck him out the next time.

Again, when Joba actually hits someone, complain. Until then, suck it up. It's baseball.
