The Yankees play terrific baseball, they take over first place, everyone is excited, and rightfully so.

But, when the inevitable downturn arrives, everyone starts talking about releasing players, firing managers and GM's, and generally indicating that the season is lost.

How could one team become bums in such a short period of time?

They didn't, it's just we have a tough time accepting losses, of any kind. Well, newsflash, neither do the players! But, unlike us, they know tomorrow is another day, and they also know that there is a lot of season left to play. A lot of season, and they have a pretty good ballclub.

So, calm down everybody, you all knew, if you follow baseball at all, that this was coming. Fine, let it happen, then watch them turn it around just as quickly. Then, everyone will be singing the praises of Posada, marveling with how smart Girardi has become, and hoping Cashman stays. Did they change? Nope, but the ebb and flow of the season does.

Three horrible games. Let's hope we are better tomorrow. Ransom is not an everyday player. Cashman resigned him. Girardi played him. Ransom doesn't WANT to fail. Think about it!! He'd love to get a big hit. Don't get on Ransom. He should have been pinch hit for. Use Hinske at first base. But give Ransom the dignity he deserves. He no doubt did his best.

Pete A. does a great job blogging the games and running this blog. Get on the management but leave the the lunch box type player alone. The loss today was a team effort. This team has a weak bench and lacks a fifth starter and a long man in BP. Is this Pete A.'s fault or Posada's fault or somehow Ransom's fault? It is Cashman's problem!!!! It does no good to spend the huge bucks on CC, AJ, and Tex, if you have nothing left to spend on the rest of the team. And Girardi should be read the riot act by upper management for his use of the BP. There are 7 guys out there. Use all of them if need be so you don't ruin someone's career and arm.

It would have been nice to go into the Boston series with a 3 game lead, but it looks like the Yankees are in danger of actually falling to second place before that series begins.

I have a good feeling about Toronto, though. They just really need to sqeak out a win tomorrow.

MG why be a apologist for management. Again I know you are not the claissic 18 year old they all stink, they are not trying, trade everyone crowd but the Ransom stuff is over the top. The ycould play hinske or even Duncan.. But say they did play Ransom not pinch hitting for him was over the top...I can understand if he is on the roster play him once in a while mentatlity but down by 4, with 2 men on base hit DUncan or someone else against Danks..

you simply do not believe Ransom has a negative value when he plays but he does, regardless if he is a nice guy.. They have options, Pena is a switch hitter hitting 60 points higher, yes Pena is bette from the left side but still the same...

1 LAST TIME RANSOM STINKS, ADDS NO VALUE TO THE TEAM, AND THEY HAVE BETTER OPTIONS FOR HIS ROLE THAT WILL COST NO MORE MONEY.

I am done no more time on a journeyman...,

CaptainsCorner, Jorge has never been a good baserunner. I don't mean that in a 'he's as slow as molasses' way (which may be true), but in a fundamental way.

His baserunning acumen is lacking, and no amount of days off can possibly change it. Either you get it, or you don't. Jorge doesn't get it.
