Here’s the spot I did with SNY’s The Wheelhouse before the game yesterday. Thanks to those guys for having me on.

  1. Wait till we visit the Sardine Can

If you think about it, the Yankees really have one fault. If we can find a fifth starter that can do better than Mitre (Maybe Gaudin? Maybe?) and we really have no major flaws. We have some minor flaws, of course. But besides that fith starter spot, no major flaws.

    Good spot, Pete.

Hey, you sure Ichiro is your favorite? Cuz you sorta spelled his name wrong.

  3. vinny-b (thankful to have Girardi in charge)

“However, I’m seeing the phrase “great hitter” thrown around for Ichiro”

if you don’t believe Ichiro is a great hitter, i don’t know what to tell you

  4. m

As long as we win at least 3 of 4 of the other starters’ outings, we’ll be okay with either/both in that slot. I have more faith in Gaudin because he’s got a better track record, and he’s not 1 year coming off surgery.

    Imagine if Wang were healthy.

    We’d be unbeatable.

    “Imagine if Wang were healthy”

    na. too easy

  7. Mac Daddy

pete, some great insight there…”something on your elbow like that, could really affect the rest of your swing” amazing

  8. m

People are kidding with the Billy Wagner stuff right?

  9. arodanonymous

From a few posts down: “Jeter just plays. ”

    I’d buy that T-shirt.

“if you don’t believe Ichiro is a great hitter, i don’t know what to tell you”

You don’t have to tell me anything. It’s all relative.

If you’re calling Ichiro great in comparison to inner-circle Hall of Famers like Gehrig, Ruth, Williams, Aaron and Musial – then he doesn’t match up with those players. That’s a fact. Not up for debate.

If you are talking about the Rod Carews, Gwynns and other guys who hit for high average with little power – than he is.

    “Great” is a relative term.

SNY sportstalk needs more Frank Isola and less everyone else.

He’s one of the few who makes rational, coherent points and does so without screaming over anyone.

  13. Mike Parch

Congrats on the recent success Pete, no one deserves it more or works harder than you!

  14. Tom B

sox picked up alex gonzalez to add to the littany of .220 hitting SS’s… man are they desperate or what.

  15. disco stu

Great job Pete … I kept waiting for you to be on Mike Francesa’s show and go toe-to-toe with him regarding the Joba starter/reliever debate … talk about two guys in the media who steadfastly on opposite ends of that arguement.

That would be fun to watch … here’s hoping it might come to pass at some point.

  16. Mac Daddy

“in jorges defense, that curve ball is a real tough pitch to catch…aj needs to finish it off a little bit more and get it to the plate…” pete, seriously??

  17. dennis-Costanza

    Mike Parch.

I was thinking the same thing! PA’s diligence is amazing. I am very appreciative for his time and effort.

    All. Happy Friday.

  18. Joe DeRosa Jr

Pete- I like the suit. Looking sharp!!!!!

  19. JFK

SNY is about to go in toilet like the mets. The focus of September and October will be on the yankees on yes.

  20. Mac Daddy

francesa doesnt even know pete exists…someone called and referred to something pete wrote and mike said: “pete who?”

  21. Rishi

    posting madness today :)

  22. Wait till we visit the Sardine Can

SNY is in tears right now. It’s kind of pathetic. They’ve thrown themsleves wholeheartedly into the Jets.

  23. disco stu

“francesa doesnt even know pete exists…someone called and referred to something pete wrote and mike said: “pete who?””

Hey, I remember how Mike and the Mad Dog once dismissed something that Jon Heyman wrote and they both said, “Who is Jon Heyman?” … now Francesa’s loves having him on the show for all the dirt on trade rumors.

It’s all about making a name for yourself.

  24. Dr. Cox

    SKeet skeet.

  25. Stateman52

You are making quite a name for yourself. I never go a single day without reading your blog.
