//Boston will knock out LA, we will knock out Boston//

Like you said Beckett/Lester.

Boston's not scared of CC and AJ. We took care of CC in 2007 and AJ is an after-thought with his last 2 outings at Fenway.

I'd be worried if I were you. Wagner to Boston seals the "Boston is built better for the play-offs" deal!!!!

I hated when Torre shut down the Yankees every September to rest players. It's a recipe for coming into the postseason flat. The Yankees are definitely on the schedule makers bad side what with two West coast trips this late in the season but a Yankee series win in Anaheim will go a long way this October.

"Why are Abreu and Ervin Santana laughing in the dugout? Their team is down 10-1!!!"

10-3 now, they are sitting on Verlander's fastball.

in no specific order...

AL cy young debate:

1. Halladay
2. Verlander
3. Grienke
4. Sabathia
5. Beckett

AL MVP debate:

1. Mauer
2. Tex
3. Jeter
4. Miguel Cabrera

obviously a long ways to go, but you can probably assume for CC to win it, he has to lower his ERA to about 3, other than that, Halladay looks like the guy...if Grienke racks up the wins, then he may take it.

Cabrera is having a great year, but his lack of RBI and defense (compared to Tex,) plus how no one seems to think about him may hurt his chances. But his numbers are ridiculous.

Mauer is clearly having the best year, especially after missing a month, but his team may not even be close in the standings...if his team can remain in the playoff race for the final week, that may be enough to give him the MVP nod, even if his team misses out of the postseason.

If you consider playoffs as a key part of the MVP discussion, then I think it comes down to Tex and Cabrera. With Jeter missing out on a MVP again.
