This summer is a lot different than last for Andy Pettitte. He and the Yankees beat the Rangers last night. Josh Thomson has the story.

A.J. Burnett is seeking answers to his slump. He starts today in the series finale. This notebook also includes updates on Jorge Posada and Johnny Damon.

Let’s wrap this series up, AJ.

  2. hobbie August 27th, 2009 at 8:44 am

If Andy Pettite had not left for his Houstonian exile, he would be closing in on Whitey Ford’s all time Yankee win total.

  3. Rick August 27th, 2009 at 8:50 am

I wonder if Joba learned anything from Andy’s performance ?
Does he continue to be stubborn and nibble at the plate and block out any advice ?

  4. Johnny D. August 27th, 2009 at 8:54 am

Burnett should make another promise to the media if he hopes to do better.

ARE Derek Jeter and Minka Kelly (above) ready to take the next step? “Derek and Minka are secretly engaged,” an insider told Page Six. The Yankee captain and the actress are telling close pals to “save the date” for nuptials in the fall. “The wedding is being planned and will take place after baseball season is over,” said our source. A rep for Kelly said, “There is no fall wedding planned to Derek Jeter.” Remember — Kelly also denied they were dating when we spotted her with Jeter at the Empire Hotel last year.

ok guys, GTLU starts now. It will end either at 10AM or when the lineup is posted(whichever comes first). Good luck!Erica will have an updated standings list later

  7. jennifer August 27th, 2009 at 8:57 am

Since it appears that a hurricane is headed this way, this weekend hitting us Friday night going into Saturday would the Yankees give any thought into moving Friday nights game to a day game? Given the fact that all 3 games could be in doubt?

  8. Tunnel Man August 27th, 2009 at 8:58 am

So much for the yankee pitching “lull”

  9. jennifer August 27th, 2009 at 8:59 am

Notice the response is no “FALL” wedding. Well maybe it is a Nov wedding technically a Winter wedding. HMMMM

  10. benfica356 August 27th, 2009 at 9:00 am

Jennifer, Saturday’s game will be the most likely PPD. Maybe Friday’s. But, it will end around early Sun AM, so I dont think Sunday’s will be cancelled.

I hope not I have tickets to Sundays game.

I really hope none get canceled it would royally stink if the Yankees had to make up games at the end of the season. Only good news is, the soxs would be in the same situation.

What are you people talking about?

The “projected” path of the hurricane doesn’t have it coming close to NY until Saturday mid-day.

Why would they cancel Friday’s game?

Also, I wouldn’t get too concerned about potential weather problems 48 hours from now. The forecast will likely change many times between now and then.

One thing I do know, the storm isn’t going to “speed up”. Its not going to get here a whole day before its expected.

  17. benfica356 August 27th, 2009 at 9:07 am

    jennifer, same here.

  18. bru August 27th, 2009 at 9:10 am

rumors going around that michael jackson is alive .

reported video of him getting out of a coroners van.

    youtube video

    what next

  19. Ken August 27th, 2009 at 9:11 am

I was at the stadium last night for my second trip and again I came back with the feeling the crowd just isnt the same as the old one. I dont know if its the acoustics of the building or are too many of the die hards priced out of this new building? But I am not alone. An usher mentioned its been that way all year, except for the last Boston series. I know they are up by 6 in the standings so maybe that has something to do with it but the best thing about the old stadium was the “aura” and its missing here. As nice as it is, it doesnt feel like home to me.

  20. upstate kate August 27th, 2009 at 9:12 am

I like my chances today, Ramey has the same line up as me :)

Erica- I was worried that you got tired of us

  28. Tunnel Man August 27th, 2009 at 9:22 am

    ESPN is hilarious.

Watching Baseball Tonight yesterday and all they did was go on and on about saying “Boston is BACK!” because of Ortiz.

    It was nauseatingly fun.

  29. Erica - always OPPC August 27th, 2009 at 9:23 am

    Wake up people-

We need more GTLU players. Benfica356 will think this is easy!!! LOL

  33. Erica - always OPPC August 27th, 2009 at 9:27 am

    Weather.com is backing up Jennifer.

Tropical Storm Danny looks like a dead hit for Saturday, but there is more rain in the forecast Friday night

“A rep for Kelly said, “There is no fall wedding planned to Derek Jeter.”

His secret fiances rep made a boo-boo in Jeter protocol by not answering the question with a question.

  38. Doreen August 27th, 2009 at 9:31 am

And — I messed up – am I allowed to fix it if I left a person out????

    See, there’s a reason I never played before. :)

If I am allowed to fix it:

    Jeter SS
    Damon LF
    Teixeira 1B
    Matsui DH
    Cano 2B
    Swisher RF
    Hairston 3B

    Sorry. :(

yes, Coudldn’t find anything I thought would work

  40. benfica356 August 27th, 2009 at 9:32 am

Doreen, you can fix it just because you only left a player out.

  41. benfica356 August 27th, 2009 at 9:35 am
