Alex Rodriguez started his season in Baltimore and last night, he and CC Sabathia helped the Yankees their hot streak.

Mariano Rivera will rest a few days because of a sore groin. This notebook also has updates on Brett Gardner, Mark Teixeira, Sergio Mitre, A.J. Burnett and Ian Kennedy.

Adding having Gardner will add an element to the game that we have missed for a couple weeks. Hopefully there are no setbacks with Scranton.

He can surely be a force on the base path in the post season a la Dave Roberts circa 2004.

Even though I maintain to this day that he was out.

With a 7 1/2 game lead the Yankees can afford to rest Mo.
