alright lets move the pile along…
Did I win yet?
Getting really close
They will come in hot and heavy now…
Coming up with stuff…
Repost:
Gardner & Guzman as pinch runners in the playoffs? it does make sense though, one could pinch run for Matsui, while the other pinch runs for Posada late in the game.
I have to admit, I really want to win that hat.
I’m gonna be looking sweet cruising Scranton with that ski cap on.
GO YANKEES! 27 in ‘09!!!
Hmm…
Okay, here’s my contribution:
Magic number jerseys:
13: Walt “No Neck” Williamss
12: Jim Spenser
11: Buck Showalter
10: Celerino Sanchez
More to come… anyone have any others?
I think Pete would have an aneurysm if I won.
Pete’s bluffing with the magic number
Pete…this is a testament to you. Congratulations.
But the comments should be meaningful!!!!
Pete is probably laughing at us. LOL
2709
WANT a new Soup Bowl.
the yankees should win a playoff series this season but aj burnett scares the crap out me
I would want Guzman as a pinch runner over an etxra pitcher
Go Yankees!
I think the yankees should be The New York Yankees of the Bronx, only for today, in honor of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.
I never won anything in my life…..
I think it would have been better if the posts regarding how close we are weren’t put up today and it was a surprise so there weren’t random posters like me just trying to come with anything to say.
That ski cap is going to look nice on me while I’m cruising down the mountain!
The lucky 1 million should be about Joba and his rightful move (eventually) to the bullpen.
Joba is a reliever this year. He just gives his innings early in the game as opposed to middle or late in the game.
MPB Johnny Damon = Awesome
Guzman is really fast. I am excited to see him
Love it. Now how many of the 1,000000 comments are actually insightful? (certainly not this one)
Watch, the magic number will go from 3 to 1 in one day, skipping right over Jeter’s jersey…
Go Jets!
I want to know what Bob Watson felt like!
This is a fantastic site. I check it 10 times per day.
I’m still have a lot of confidence in AJ
I could really use a cup of soup right now. I hope I win!
Next rain out headline should be “Lost in the Flood”
I can’t believe I’m wasting all this time trying to win a shirt PEte found in the trunk of his car. lol
Looks like a good haul. Totally would like to win.
Damn.. I’m so bad at math, I was counting, I was 94 posts away from 1,000,000 when you posted this post.
This thread is going to be how fast can 68 posts be posted
how fast is guzman? never heard of him
Man lets go I need this!
Does anyone know if they’re ever going to have a bacon day at the stadium?
I think Gardner serves the purpose of being a pinch runner rather than needing guzman.
I want those luggage tags.
serious question: rookies usually comes up to the fans to give autographs right?
I love this blog. You rule Pete
Is the rotation gonna be CC-AJ-Pettite for the first round? I think that would make sense, hold Andy for a clinching game 3 or to get the Yanks to 2-1 if AJ bombs in game 2!
Insert Useless Comment Here.
Boston Stinks!
I’m going to win
Will they announce the winner at the stadium?
UPDATE, 3:06 p.m.: Getting closer now — 28 to go. I hope a regular wins, I really do.
I’m a regular, I just dont post a lot.
Girardi should be retained even if they go out in the first round.
At least Gardner plays a good position
oh man, getting close! 2709
i want the ski hat i go to college upstate
How many speedy runners do we need? Pena/Gardner….now somebody else?
This might be more difficult to win then powerball>

Im calling that Joba pitches 4 scoreless innings tonight.
UPDATE, 3:06 p.m.: Getting closer now — 28 to go. I hope a regular wins, I really do.
Everyone here is irregular.
Got nothing to say
Insert another useless comment here.
We’re going to beat the Angels tonight!
Johnny back for 2010!
We need to beat the Angels tonight.
Is the prize t-shirt used?
Rob Thomson is an excellent 3b coach
Almost there…glad I got out of class early and was able to see the posts, haha.
Let’s WIN tonight!!
I think I should DEFINITELY win that prize
is it me?
we have pena and hairston for the other spots
Winner?
I think AJ showed a lot of promise outside his one bad inning last week. Granted it really was an awful inning, but hopefully he can take something out of the rest of his outing to help him launch into a solid finish for the season.
the yanks win number 27
It should really be CC and Andy first, considering Andy’s big game mentality. Especially if we get someone like Verlander in Game 1.
You can never have too many fast players
Funnier – 66..65..64..63
cool prizes pete
keep up the excellent work!
Posada catching against the Angels worries me.
I think having two pinch runners on the roster doesn’t make any sense.
This will be my final, no doubt fruitless attempt to be the millionth commenter.
What happened to guess the lineup?
I need something to occupy some real work time.
I like using Serie to describe the one game match up.
Go IPK!!
best blog ever
“I never won anything in my life…..”
That’s what Bob Watson said.
Jets D is going to destroy Tom Brady!
Where is Roy White?
as long as a troll doesn’t win, i am happy. i hate pedroia.
Kei Igawa should have been given a chance to start this year. He’s better than Joba.
“This thread is going to be how fast can 68 posts be posted”
5 minutes?
im going to my first game NYS Wed
I am a regular reader, but not a regular poster, does that count?
…getting close.
It’s over!
why is Guzman consider to get a playoff spot? isn’t Gardner as good?
Should be any minute now.
Joba needs a great performance…get his confidence up for the playoffs.
Joba needs to show up tonight and prove he can pitch against a playoff team.
let’s hope Jared Weaver pitches like Jeff Weaver did for us tonight…..
the yanks will win, Burnett will be straighten out

I think Erica won!!
I think Melky is better than we give him credit for
The Angel’s go down tonight!!!!
Have you seen my baseball?
I think Melky is better than we give him credit for
dont recognize any of these names
I heart Johnny Damon!
(And Pete)
27 in 2009!
It’s over.
Congrats to whoever won.
ha, its 97 now.
But maybe it should be Sery, because y goes to ies when plural.
WOW that was quick, lets see Joba throw a quality 4-5 long tonight
Yanktown USA I lurk a lot
I read and comment almost every day.
Does my boss know I am doing this?
anyone with a guess for how long joba goes tonight… i say 3.1 innings
I would like to pinch hit.
Ajax should stay in AAA until at least july
I win!
And?
I’m betting that Erica won.
The Guess the Lineup Guru is deserving…
Let’s Go Yankees!
I feel like Bob Watson!
I NEED that Soup bowl!
I’m a regular lurker, does that count?
nice prizes mr. abraham
Any idea how long Joba will get to pitch tonight? I’m going to the game, it’d be nice to not see him out in the third.
This is getting crazy. Doubt anyone at the newspaper imagined this. Great work Pete..
Where’s waldo?
who won?
I want to win!!
Time to Claim the Prize!!!
Great news on Kennedy. I can see him really contributing next year.
Brett Gardner is the future
Pete I saw you at the stadium on saturday but you didnt answer me.
One million woooo!!! Here’s to a million more Pete!
Is there any soup in the bowl? Will the soup Nazi fill it with the soup du jour?
I can’t imagine any scenario under which Guzman makes the 25-man without a major injury or two. I’ve never read or seen anything to indicate he is a star defensive replacement.
I would also like to pinch run.
just rolling the dice here.
great blog, Pete. First time commenter, but long time reader. Thanks for doing this.
Burnett needs to pull his head from out of wherever he has had it!
who comes up from Scranton once they sweep Durham? Kennedy? Austin Jackson?
I’m really looking forward to the Seattle game with CC vs. King Felix. Should be a really good game, if you like good pitching match-ups, strikeouts and not a lot of runs.
The stuff is awesome.
Bosotn Stinks!
short sentences
No soup for you.
Great, now I’ll feel bad if I won, since I’m not a regular.
This has been an epic season and like always you have made it the best. thanks PETE!!!!!!
And…the winner IS?
Swishalicious
#27
I guess I would feel bad if I won too… I read this site all the time but I don’t usually post any comments. I decided to change that today, though.
Bernie Williams should play guitar at it, too.
You are way too Late…
Pete this blog has opened my eyes to just how powerful the yankees following is…amazing insight and always entertaining. Thanks again
Can’t wait for tonight’s lineup!!!!
I liked Graig Nettles.
In all seriousness, this is all really a testament to this great blog and great fanbase. I can’t remember my Yankee following days before this blog.
I’d really like to win on my first comment ever.
p.s. Joba is going to pitch 3 innings tonight just like last time and the time before that
Joba should pitch TEH EIGTH!@!!!111!
He has a bull in a china shop mentality!
jk, did I win yet?
well, we’re waiting.
Is anyone a Mets fan as well as a Yankees fan?
105 wins for the Yankees this year!@!!!
Step a side Mikey…the prize is ALL mine!
1 MILLION!
LOL- those were some of the funniest comments I have ever seen on here.
I have been laughing so hard the last 30 minutes it is so obvious I am doing nothing accounting related at my desk
Can Pettitte keep this up at his age?
How many innings will Joba go tonight?
I’ll become a regular if I win.
unbelievable how quickly that happened!
1,000,000 it IS.
Has the interweb ever been full of such drivel in a 10-min period?
Joba Rules (?) – come on JC – we need that WHIP under two, buddy.
1,000,000?
really?
And counting….
ONE MILLION!
i was a regular. but then i missed my fiber and became irregular.
haha this whole thread is hillarious, a good mix of peopel sucking up to Pete and dropping absurd one-liners in a chance to win the Grand Prize with a punchline
I feel like I’m on steroids.
Pete can seriously win this thing.
Pete gives us a new post without a comment box. What a tease!
I want GB to win.
Did you call???
i think it was kei igawa’s comment about wanting a shirt from pete’s trunk.
I hate suspense

Has the interweb ever been full of such drivel in a 10-min period?
Of course it has. It’s the damn internet. It’s 98% drivel.
i DEMAND A RECOUNT!
Yankees win 5-2 tonight. Book it.
I’m so ready for the post season!!
Soup?
Im preparing a speech just in case
If Betsy or SJ44 wins I’m retiring from this blog…..
Damn ….. you miss a lot being three hours behind!!
Those 2 talk more than Pete.
LEts hope Joba pitches well tonight
I’m in it for the soup cup & luggage tags.
UNCLE E!!!!!
We did it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I’m tossing my red flag on the field = thats right, I’m invoking the instant replay rule.
It ain’t OVER till it’s OVER.
If I did my math right, the winner is 27 this year.
This IS very funny
this thing is over i counted 68 and Matt with “insert some useless comment here,” wins it.
It ain’t OVER till it’s OVER. Is it?
I’m SPARTACUS!
PHOTO FINISH!
Balls said the Queen…if I had 2 I’d be King.
THIS IS A RIP OFF – BEYONCE SHOULD OF WON!
THIS IS A RIP OFF – BEYONCE SHOULD OF WON!!
I’m clearly too late. Rats.
I really want to win Pete…
Nice, go Yankees!
Hi all.
Good news on IPK. Great news in fact.
Hi Pete -
I don’t ever even play the lotto, but I figure, this is different. And I am a regular, so I’d help increase the odds of a regular winning.
P.S. I was running late this morning and got to see the fracas in the fifth. Good stuff. Hope it lights a fire for the next month, like the last major one in Atlanta did. And about Johnny Damon’s non-error – frankly, I’m surprised it doesn’t happen more often to some players especially during slow-paced games. Heck, I don’t always know how many outs there are (I know, I’m not paid to remember.
)
Joe in LI
If you’re around. Thanks for asking about the trip to LI yesterday. Traffic wasn’t bad at all. But my daughters campus was hosting a Central American Heritage Day Festival (mostly El Salvador). It was actually pretty cool, but a minor inconvenience for those of us who had to be there moving into the dorms. Lots of blue and white, great smells, music and happy people.
OK, after that now we can talk more baseball ,… still no one found basketball freak johnnie selvie so i shall hold on to my prizes.
Regardless if I win or not…I hope to see the Yankees win the 2009 World Series…and Jeter for MVP !!
