Yankees add Guzman; Kennedy to Scranton

Peter Abraham
September
14

Here’s a little breaking news via Chad Jennings:

The Yankees have promoted OF Freddy Guzman to the majors. RHP Anthony Claggett was DFA’d to make room for him on the 40-man roster.

Guzman has played only 37 games in the majors, none since an eight-game cameo with Texas in 2007. He was 19 of 89 in those games but stole 22 bases. The Yankees appear to be considering him for a postseason roster spot as a pinch runner. In theory, they could go with one less pitcher in the first round and keep Guzman.

Guzman started this season in the Red Sox organization and bounced around before the Yankees acquired him from Baltimore on Aug. 31.

Also, Ian Kennedy will be pitching for Scranton on Wednesday in the International League playoffs. He’s expected to start and go 3-4 innings. Good step on the road back for Ian.

Hopefully Kennedy is on the way back.

  2. Mac

Good to hear Ian is progressing. Hopefully we will see him up in the majors sometime next year with another crop of young guys. I don’t know much about Guzman. But i’am guessing he is a nice defense OF Util guy.

  3. Mac Daddy

smart move to bring in an additional OF’er…

  4. Andrew GTLU Bronze Medalist

Yankees signed Guzman only recently–he was with the Orioles at one point last year I think. Utility guy that can play anywhere, speed is a good asset of his.

  5. Erica - always OPPC

Would it be Guzman on the postseason roster over GGBG?

  6. Mo

Great no we gonna lose another pitcher with great promise in Anthony Claggett , the whole seffield trade was a bust so far.

    The Critics (Jersey)

as a lifelong fan of all things anti Yankee how long can MLB withstand the notion that year after year there’s only 4-5 teams that have a chance to emerge World Series champs?

    Buster Olney (1:31 PM)

The Critics: There is a lot of talk among club executives about what they believe is a growing disparity. I think there will be a lot of discussion about find ways to tweak with the economic structure, whether it’s through the draft or the schedule or the luxury tax, before the next labor negotiations start.

  8. Jerkface

Do we really need an official pinch runner? If it leads to a stunning ALCS upset over the angels or red sox I guess I shouldn’t care.

  9. Joba Joba

IPK gonna challenge Igawa for best minor leaguer of the year next year.

  10. Yankslaw

Guzman was not part of the 40 man before September so I don’t think he can be on postseason roster

  11. Erica - always OPPC

I realize this is in the “never going to happen” category but…

I’d love to see IPK make one start for the Yanks before the season ends

I kind of thought we already had one. GGBG is mighty fast

Guzman was not part of the 40 man before September so I don’t think he can be on postseason roster

Players on the 60 day DL open up spots for players not on the 40 man before september 1st, same loophole that got K-rod on the angels postseason roster

  14. Joe B

IPK to SWB – via JFK?

  15. Jerkface

I kind of thought we already had one. GGBG is mighty fast

Guzman isn’t good for much more than pinch running. Gardner will be a part of the post season roster as a true bench player.

  16. Andrew GTLU Bronze Medalist

Guzman is not taking Brett Gardner’s place. Also I don’t know about Claggett having a ton of upside/promise. The Sheffield trade was about A) getting rid of Sheffield and B) taking a chance on a few young arms. Sanchez & Claggett were whiffs, jury still out on Whelan.

  17. El duque

I will run away from everybody! Sometimes I even slide over bases!

  18. m

wOO hOO! IPK on the comeback trail.

  19. Chris Detje

Would love to see Ian make it in the bigs next season

  20. Jerkface

Sanchez isn’t a whiff yet, Humberto has been pretty good as a reliever recently.

  21. hardwired7

Would it be Guzman on the postseason roster over GGBG?
    ——————

I would think Guzman and Gardner. Speed to burn.

Since the 4th and 5th starters won’t be needed (assuming the Yanks are in a position to choose that route), I’m guessing it would boil down to Mitre or Gaudin getting left off to make room.

  22. scott duncan

I don’t see the need for this.

  23. upstate kate

    Thanks for asking Erica-
I am doing fine. I spent the weekend confined to the couch, which was not as much fun as the weekend went on, altho yesterday’s win helped! Today I hobbled around the block walking the dogs, and tomorrow it is back to work.

  24. NYYROC

    Congrats to IPK! Good luck!

    Upstate Kate-

Very conflicting. I am glad you are well enough to go back to work, but very sorry you have to :-)

  26. m

If there’s an extra spot and he’s a decent fielder, I like the potential move.

Who knows if Damon’s back will “lock” up again? [Erica  ]

That puts Gardner in the lineup (I know, I know), and speed on the bench.

But that’s only if we have space, which doesn’t really seem like it? Unless we dump Bruney’s ass.

I like Michael Kay’s idea: make umpiring crews 5 members instead of 4, and rotate one of them into the press box to officially score each game.
    ********

Why so in addition to screwing up balls and strikes safe and out they can screw up scoring too?

I will have a pretend conversation with MPB Johnny Damon and make sure he understands:

    1) His back and legs must be working properly
    2) Mental lapses are unacceptable

  32. Dave Roberts

Pinch runners in the postseason aren’t that important.

  33. pat

Kanye was out of line last night but this tweet from Jim Baumbach from Newsday is funny:

“Where was Kanye West when Justin Morneau won the AL MVP in 2006 instead of Derek Jeter?”
about 2 hours ago from web

  34. m

    Erica,

    That’s right, I forgot to mention brain-lock.

Green Beret 7 part of the LoHud establishment? Snort.

  35. upstate kate

It seems as tho Girardi has a soft spot for Bruney, like he did w/ Farnsworth. I thought I heard him say in the post game that he pulled Bruney b/c he didn’t want him to throw too many pitches so he would be available for tonight.

  36. Drive 4-5

In 2007 major league baseball was the first league in the history of American professional sports that no team had a winning percentage above .600 or below .400

Since 2002 every Division has been represented in the World Series at least once and there has’nt been a repeat World Champion since 2000. Last year the 2007 last place Rays played in the World Series and mid market Philadelphia won it. There are weak franchises in all sports, most of them either poorly run ( Pittsburgh) or in cities that have marginal attendance even in good years ( Oakland, SF).

  37. scott duncan

river ave blues is a great blog.

  38. bdog375

I see no way they could add someone just for speed and defense. Gardner already fills that role nicely. Of course, one advantage if they do is more fastballs thrown to the Yanks power hitting lineup.

  39. Jerkface

Everyone remembers the one guy who was safe, but they forget all the guys that got thrown out and lost the playoffs. Or the guys who actually had to, you know, get a hit to bring in the pinch runner.

Totally overrated when we have Brett Gardner already.

  40. Joe from Long Island

    Two points –

    1. Great news about IPK. Apart from how he does, his coming back from as frightening a problem (aneurysm in his arm) should be applauded by all.

    2. Re: one of Pete’s previous posts today – Quite sincerely, Pete has already given us all a tremendous prize – the prize of this blog, great insights into the Yanks, and fellow Yankee fans with whom we can celebrate and agonize over our favorite team. Great job, Pete.

I thought the ps roster cut-off was Aug 31?

  42. Nice Guy

Isn’t Guzman a bit redundant with GGBG around, who has more experience?

  43. MRG

Congrats to IPK, his hard work is paying off, hopefully he can lead Scranton to a victory and then make it up to the show for a start, hopefully we’ll see some David Cone like production, except for a much longer time

  44. Yanks Fan In Austin

Pat: That’s a great tweet. Thanks for sharing. As for a pinch runner, Gardner is looking like nothing more than a pinch runner these days…

you forgot about Duncan, Cervelli, now Guzman, and others…not a bad call with the bullpen though thats mighty strong

  53. Drive 4-5

Best of luck to IPK. As for Clagett, in hindsight the Yanks were lucky to get anything more than a bag of balls for him. At the time I thought the Yanks should have at least received one mlb player for Sheffield. It turns out that the rather dim hopes for Humberto Sanchez and Kevin Wheelan are fair trade for the washed up Sheffield.

  54. Unknown

    Pete,
You have a prediction on how many fantasy points Brady is going to give me tonight. Must be killing you to be at the stadium and not watching your Pats.

  62. Jerkface

I assume we will have him pitch run for Joba so that his fastball will be back to its normal velocity?

  63. Gennaro

Speed kills, so this will most likely be a positive move for the Yankees.

  64. Jeter's Edge - Pete, we need registered names and an edit button!

  65. Yondo

Usain Bolt for CF, Asafa powell in Left….wait the Rays already them Upton and Crawford

  66. Angel Berroa

I’m happy for Kennedy, he’s progressed quicker than I thought.

  67. Nice Guy

Just wondering – Who would you all vote for biggest pleasant surprise of the year for the Yanks?

    1) Melky
    2) Pettitte
    3) Derek
    4) Hughes
    5) Cano
    6) Damon
    7) Swisher

I think they all deserve consideration. The less obvious candidates are Jeter and Cano, but I included them because Jeter is having a career year post-prime, and Cano is bouncing back from a terrible year last year.

I’d be interested to hear everyone’s thoughts.

  68. abernste

Terrific news on IPK. If I recall correctly, he was basically ruled out of pitching again this season at any level when he had the initial surgery. If that’s right, it means that he’s doing better than expected.

    Nice to hear.

  69. Evan NYC

Good Luck to IPK getting back in action!

  70. Mark in Tampa

You might add Matsui to that list as well.

  71. Jerkface

The most pleasant surprise is Hughes staying healthy and showing why he was the #1 pitching prospect in baseball just a few short years ago

  72. Jonathan

PINCH RUNNER? I think that is a waste of a roster spot. Melky Should start in center unless he is slumping and gardner should be the pinch runner.

  73. EricVA

    Nice Guy,

Considering Swisher hit .219 last year and was expected to, at most, platoon with Nady, I think he’s the most pleasant surprise. Everybody else was previously very capable of doing what they’ve done this year.

  74. Greg

I’d rather have Pena on the bench than Guzman. We already have Hairston, Hinske, and Gardner/Melky as guys on the bench who can play the OF. Currently only Hairston can play the middle infield. Pena and Hairston are both fast enough to be a PR and give the team more versatility.

  77. Jerkface

Stop being a jerkface. Upstate Kate happens to be a regular poster on here

It was facetious, as my post berating a meaningless post was in itself meaningless, and we are all trying to win the grand prize. Especially you, who decided to make this a three way for meaningless post grandprize seekery.

  78. Nice Guy

I didn’t include Godzilla even though he’s definitely having a good comback year, because I don’t find it so surprising that he’s hitting at this level.

  79. DB

Coney was able to come back from the aneurism the same year, but I think I remember reading IPK’s was worse. Good for him. Can never have enough pitching.

  80. Erica - always OPPC

To me the biggest surprize on the 2009 Yankees, isn’t so much the talent of the players. Everyone knew the talent was there.

The biggest surprise to me is how well all of the players on the team gel together. The chemistry of the team is the biggest and most pleasent surprise

  81. Sean

Why can’t Hairston or Pena or Cervelli pinch run? Is Guzman that much faster?

  82. Nice Guy

Totally agree that Pena would be a better bench player than another OF. We desperately need a solid backup infielder.

  83. Nick in SF in San Mateo

Meaningless post criticizing meaningless posts… Wicked double-reverse psycology.

  84. 86w183

With Gardner healthy this guy doesn’t make the 25-man unless there is a significant OF injury.

  85. Joey Vegas

I wonder if Kennedy is being thought of more for trade value or for a 2010 rotation spot at this point? He really had seemed to fall in terms of visibility before the injury…

  86. Jerkface

Also being a regular should never excuse oneself from terrible posting. Especially when competing for an ultimate prize.

Although my sources within Jim’s head have suggested that the obsfusciation of the true comment number by discounting deleted posts mean that he will have free reign to pick whomever he wants.

Thus, the new game is afoot, sucking up to pete as much as possible in the next few hours.

  87. Nice Guy

Then again the biggest pleasant surprise would be the walk-off wins and all the pies in the face!!!!

It woudl be so appropriate if we win the World Series on a walkoff. That would be some kind of pie!!

  88. Erica - always OPPC

    jerkface-

I don’t care about winning a prize on here. Would I reject it? No. Am I posting because of it? No. I tend to make hundreds of “meaningless” posts in a day. Every post is meaningless. At the end of the day does it make any difference what anyone says????

  89. VTYankeesFan

Just curious that they chose to DFA Claggett to make room on the roster for him. I realize that both Wang and Nady are already on the 60-day DL, but Miranda and Towers are 2 guys that really have no future and limited value to the Yankees future and they would have seemed logical before Claggett. I also wonder if recalling someone like De La Rosa or Garcia and placing them on the 60-day DL would have been an option. Claggett has seen a decent amount of success in Scranton, so I would hate to see him get lost for nothing, much like Jackson and Hacker were (though we know he likely will be picked up by Pittsburgh, since they seem to love all our young arms).

  90. Joe Monte

Is Kennedy pitching in any of the winter leagues?

  91. Rex

    Nice Guy:

Jeter would be my answer. Guys just don’t raise their game the way he did from last year to this year at his age. He obviously busted his hump, improving his fielding, adding 100 points to his OPS, and becoming the unquestioned MVP of the ‘09 Yankees, IMO.

  92. 86w183

If we are debating pleasant surprise I’ll go along with Swisher not only for his play, but his personality and how that seems to have convinced the whole organization that it’s ok to have fun.

The biggest disappointment to me is that Matsui has not been able to get healthy meaning his Yankees career is almost certainly in its final two months. Runnerup would be Joba’s lack of progress.

  93. Brandon W

I’d love to see IPK make it up here this season for a game. Despite his struggles last season, I still really like him and could see him making some impact next season. Glad to hear he is getting some innings in after his surgery.

  94. Jerkface

You’re completely missing the point. Take a break from posting for a bit, it has become too serious for you and I can’t have you winning the ultimate prize in that condition, it won’t be good for your health.

  95. Nice Guy

Good point, but I would still consider Hughes, who didn’t even make the team at first, or Melkman, who seemed after last year to be consigned to being a career minor leaguer.

  96. Unknown

    Test

  97. 86w183

I would expect to see Kennedy fronting the rotation in Scranton and see what happens from there.

No problem with DFA for Claggett. Never saw anything from him and he’s not exactly a spring chicken as a prospect.

  98. m

    2, 3, & 4

Although Pettitte’s not really a surprise because I had faith from that he could pitch if he was healthy.

Jeter? Didn’t realize his “decline” was due to playing injured. (source: Gammons. Speaking of, don’t read his chat you’ll want to throw things)

Hughes? Not really a surprise because we saw glimpeses. But he’s taking to set-up/closing like a fish to water. He’s really Mariano-like.

If I had to choose one? I guess it’d be Hughes, and how much we’ve come to expect and get perfection from him.

  104. Keanu Reeves

It’s always good to hear positive news on the IPK front. I also like the idea of having a speedster on the bench for the playoffs. Just ask Dave Roberts and the Sox about that.

I still say if Acevas is healthy he’s the #4 starter for the playoffs (that’s only 2 starts unless you go 7 in the ALCS) and you go back to the unhittable Joba + Hughes + Rivera 7-8-9. If we stay midge free we win the series!

Interesting move on Guzman. Guy has speed to burn. Not sure we need another pinch runner though. Gardner, Pena, Hairston all seem to fit that bill well. I guess his speed is an upgrade over Pena/Hairston’s though. So, there’s that.

Tough question to answer. No indication he’s good enough to be in the Yankees ‘10 rotation. At the same time, he’s going to have prove he can pitch post-injury to establish any real trade value. I’d guess he’s in SWB again to start ‘10, with a call-up maybe later in the year. When they inevitably need a 6th starter or pen help.

  116. Andrew

If Guzman can play a strong outfield he could also be used as a late inning defensive replacement. They don’t need power off the bench in the first two rounds, they need a pinch runner if Gardner is already in the game and possibly corner outfielders for the ninth inning. Aside from that the bench players won’t see any action.

  121. VTYankeesFan

The other thing that DFA’ing Claggett does is take him away from Scranton, when they are 3 wins away from the IL title for the 2nd year in a row. Claggett was a huge part of the pitching staff and was likely the number one righty out of the pen at this point, since all the top guys are in NY. I know that the Yankees are most interested in winning in NY, but they could have waited to make this move in a week and had the same affect in NY, while also letting Scranton go for the title, couldn’t they have?

  122. Nice Guy

Dude, 100% of comments are meaningless. Is Cashman taking notes in his office saying “Gee, Andrew thinks Guzman can play a strong outfield and can be a defensive replacement. We should try that”.

Comments are for the entertainment purposes of fans. If it makes you happy to post, there is the meaning

No of course Cashman would not take Andrew’s advice, but I have it on good authority he has a word document entitled ‘jerkface.docx’ and it includes all of my greatest wisdoms. Sometimes he consults this document before making game breaking trades or promotions.

I orchestrated Jerry Hairston Jr’s arrival in the bronx, thus damning Andy pettitte’s perfect game, and keeping the natural order of things right so that the next perfecto will be carried out by none other than Jober B. Chambermaid.

    Pete.. and everyone..

I won’t multi-post. But, sometimes comments “get lost” because there is a new thread, and people begin focussing on the new thread, and look less often at the “old threads”.

I just posted a comment under an “old thread” because it was related to the original posting by Pete. I hope people will “go back there” and read my comment and post their thoughts on the matter.

It is a long “insightful” (:-)) comment regarding umpires and umpiring, and professional management in that area.

My comment is under “Today in The Journal News” at 1:23pm.

    Thanks.

Pete- is it OK for me to do this “refer back” in this way?

can we get a real discussion going on this thread instead of a focus on how none of these comments mean anyhting in the greater scope of opinion? I have a poll question that I’d love to hear back form the regulars of this site:

How many of you think Prince Fielder could accutally get dealt to the Red Sox like ESPN.com is rumoring?

My vote is this is all media hearsay and its to stirr up controversy and attention before the playoffs push. Am I just being hopeful that a beast like Fielder doesn’t get picked up by the Sox??

“Maybe we can bring Cone back from the booth to be our #3 or #4 starter in the post-season. A little magic from the old glory years…”

I bet if you put Cone in there NOW he could get a big out for you still… just on pitching guile.

I think that at this point we have to just go with what we have had for this entire season, our proven players if you will. calling a guy up at this stage, especially with no MLB experience, is fine but not on the playoff roster. I dont see why we need to make changes when everything has gone well so far

Thats exaclty why I brought up such a trade now STEVE. I have nothing to worry about with the current state of the pinstripes and in a desperate move to talk about anything other than why posts on websites such as this are useless I wanted to bring up a very real possiblity, however far off in the distant future it may be. Fielder is an absolute beast and he would help the Theo Gay-stein’s master plan of moving Youkilis to third and having a steady hard-hitting 1B. I think Cecil would disown Prince if he ever donned the Red of the Boston Roid Sox

Burnett, he has the best chance to completely dominate but to be honest I feel like we will never need more than 4 starts in the ALDS and more than 5 in the ALCS.

This yankees team is going to demolish the postseason.

  221. scooter10

I like the Guzman move. Precisely the type of bench player that can win you a late-inning playoff game. Here’s how I see the position players starting out for the ALDS.

    SS – Jeter
    LF – Damon
    1B – Teixeira
    3B – Rodriguez
    DH – Matsui
    C – Posada
    2B – Cano
    RF – Swisher
    CF – Cabrera

    Bench
    C – Molina
    IF – Hairston
    OF – Gardner
    OF – Guzman
OF – Hinske (if the Yankees go with 11 pitchers)

I think in the ALDS without having to pinch-hit for pitchers that Guzman gives you more than Hinske. He’s a better baserunner and fielder. If they Yankees decide to go with 11 pitchers, then I would think Hinske gets the spot as he has IF/OF versatility.

  222. randy l.

I know that’s what he wants also and he also wants to have a good club around him and I understand that and that’s our desire as well and I know Matt (Holliday) feels the same way. There is a business side of playing the game and players need to focus on that but in the end they want to win, and they want to be in good situations and we have a great situation.”

The Yankees are going to need some legit speed off the bench this postseason. It’s extremely helpful and I hope they utilize it.

  257. mick

does anybody know what time it is?

  258. Jerkface

When speaking of the yankees I like to use the ‘Royal We’

  259. Jeter's Edge - Pete, we need registered names and an edit button!

YIKES, Pete’s post is the winner i bet!!!!

  260. BG#11

I was unaware of Cecils ridiculous gambling problems and how he pushed that off onto his family. I just read a terrible article about how Prince once was served right before a triple A game for his fathers sins. Sad Story, maybe he’ll want to get in a Red Sox uniform more since his Dads a train wreck.

  261. Jeter's Edge - Pete, we need registered names and an edit button!

I’m guessing less than 30 posts till the winner BTW.

  262. Eights

‘How does someone do that “well” in the minors and never really make it in the big leagues?’

Some guys might not be able to handle the pressure in the big leagues, as well as the fact that the talent in the big leagues is far superior to that in the minors.

  263. Uncle Ellsworth

I’d like to take this time to Nominate Erica for rookie of the year. Who will second?

However, the GOOD news is that I have decided to move ahead with GTLU postseason edition!!! YAY!!!!!

Erica, I think you are going to be bombarded with 50 of the same submissions
    ****

You are probably right, but I am willing to give it a shot

  265. Jerkface

While I guess Guzman could theoretically be playing for a chance at the postseason roster, I think in the end he will be a non-factor. The biggest postseason factor will once again be Alex Rodriguez, and no matter how many home runs he hits if the pitching stinks it is probably his fault.

  266. BG#11

Pete- I was unaware of the ability to replace someone on the DL liek Wang/Nady thats an interesting move considering it allows Girardi to play that option like a game of chess and postiion people like Guzman there for potential usefulness

  267. Jeter's Edge - Pete, we need registered names and an edit button!

Yanks/Dodgers world series! Jeter vs Torre! It will come true and i can’t wait!

  268. BigSix

What’s the point of having Gardner AND Guzman?

  269. mick

My question is: Does Lackey and Weaver trump CC and Burnett/Andy.

Sorry to say I think most of you know the answer.

  270. Bronx Jeers

What do you think will have more meaning ?

    LoHud’s millionth comment or…

    Jeter 2,722 hit ?

  271. BG#11

    Erica,

Whats the difference between reg. season GTLU game and postseason GTLU game?

  272. Jeter's Edge - Pete, we need registered names and an edit button!

And hopefully we sweep the Angles the rest of the year. We need to show them we can beat them!

  273. Guy Incognito

Mike, but at the same time they need to ensure coverage for most fathomable scenarios. You don’t want Hinske at third or Swisher at first in the late innings of a postseason game.

  274. Ramey - Traded his Girlfriend to the Pirates for a PTBNL

Truuuuue Erica, you could certainly play the “you owe me card” a few times :)

  275. BG#11

I tihkn Carsten Charles and Andy Pettitte would be a stronger 1-2 right now than CC and “Burn-Out” Burnett..Burnett is too streaky and right now we’re in the bottom of a terrible spell by AJ

  276. Jeter's Edge - Pete, we need registered names and an edit button!

Does anyone else wish Maddog would join Mike again? Mike is sooo boring without him and Maddog always made things interestingly funny!

  277. BigSix

    GTMP –

    Guess the Millionth Poster

  278. Jeter's Edge - Pete, we need registered names and an edit button!

Anyone else wishing for a Yanks v Red Sox ALCS??? I want to pummel them! We need to take back what is rightfully ours directly from them!

  279. DT - OPPC member

    ok one more…
Angel B. and the lost Pete Abe interview.

Pete A. – “Angel, thanks for taking the time to talk with us. What is the best thing about being an octogenarian and playing for the Yankees?”

    Angel Berroa – ” no peer-pressure”

  280. MaineYankee

They want Guzman so late in a game with 1 out and a man on 2nd they can replace Damon.

  281. Jeter's Edge - Pete, we need registered names and an edit button!

This has been a ton of fun actually. Waiting for the 1,000,000 post to drop all day while at work. Makes the day go by so fast. Just like this blog usually does!

    Thanks Pete!

  282. Sports Geek

I think Andy is the #2 starter right now.
    AJ’s inconsistency kills him!

  283. BigSix

How’s Guzman’s glove – would he replace somebody in the field after pinch-running or be replaced himself by Gardner then?

  284. Nick in SF in San Mateo

Is the coast clear yet? Personally, I’ve always felt that reading this blog was its own reward. ;)

  285. Sports Geek

I think the blogging system is getting backed up!!

I made 2 comments just 2-3 minutes apart, but the 2nd one showed up 11 minutes later.

  286. Sports Geek

    BG#11-

Looks like you and I just posted pretty much the same thought…

  287. Sports Geek

Looks like posting has slowed down… Must be most folks are either exhausted by this.. OR.. they believe that 1 million has already been reached… OR.. the system is bogged down again.

  288. Merman Thumson

I still think Humberto Sanchez and Ian Kennedy
have potential to contribute on the big league level, I haven’t written them off yet.

On a side note, I saw the MLB channel’s wired last night where guys on the field have their interactions recorded. What a good show, it would be even more gooder if they didn’t edit it so much to keep the nicey nice fluff in.

  289. Bryan

    hopefully Joba pitches well tonight

  290. jeff

I’d rather have Ramiro Pena on the bench than Hinske. Remember, you have a great lefty PH off the bench in the WS road games in Matsui. Hairston is fine, Pena is another speed guy who can really handle the glove.

  291. The Damon-ator

was Clagget one of those gems Cashman got in the Sheffield trade along with the other bust Humberto Sanchez?

another one of Cashman’s brainiac moves. for every swisher trade there is 3 of these. tell me – who’d the Yankees get when they traded Mike Lowell?

  292. The Damon-ator

wasn’t Sanchez outrighted or DFA’d and he cleared and made it back to Scranton? NOBODY WANTED HIM. that says something right there.

  293. joeysdadjoe

I guess you could do Guzman,Gardner,Melky l-r for defense too.

  294. toughlove

IPK will be pitching in the instructional league and then in Arizona Fall League. He needs innings.
