Andy Pettitte came and spent a lot of time with my son, Dylan, who is fighting a relapse of cancer (see site for info). Here is a picture of Dylan with a signed ball; just look at that smile:

great of them to lend their time and good wishes. I, too know those rooms. They are doing good, very good. This has been a very special team to watch, in so many ways.

Ray Negron doesn't get enough credit for the work he does in the Bronx community with Yankee players that largely goes unpublicized.

Props to him and the players for getting involved with their "neighbors" in the Bronx.

Absolutley love the Yankees committment to the community this year. The Boss has always done more than he's given credit for. Red Sox fans I know still talk about Steinbrenner's generosity to the Jimmy Fund. This year the Yanks have been exceptional both on the field and off.

Wow releasing Tomko to make way for Mitre and Gaudin was a great idea......5 hit shutout for the cast-off as Mitre will get pounded tonight, while Halladay shuts us out. Not pessimistic on the season obvi just saying this was a dumb move. Tomko has been much better than either of his replacements. I guess you are bound to have some moves not work out but geez I hate watching Mitre pitch

I didn't have cancer (thank God), but I did have an extended hospital stay as a kid, and ANY visitor (much less a New York Yankee) who kept me company or brought me some little treat or put on a puppet show with my stuffed animals had the power to brighten my day more than you can imagine. What these Yankees are doing will make tremendous difference to these kids. Major props.

easiest Yankee team to root for in years.

as great as they have been on the field, it's off the field where they have really shined.

winners, one and all.

I've been a patient at Sloan Kettering and nothing has made me feel worse than sitting in a waiting room with kids going in for treatment and suffering from the effects of cancer and the treatments for the disease. It is my heart every time I go in there. Needless to say it's a great thing that these guys are doing.
