Long-time reader but I’ve never posted before. You gave us a view of the game and a feel for the players that was really special. I’ll send my obligatory congratulations and thank you’s but I am utterly devastated. I feel like I’ve just been robbed. Lots of luck at The Globe.

Why bother replacing you? No one will come close. Can you walk away that easily Pete? So sad.

Enjoy your sloppy seconds. Just like the Sox…always wanting what the Yankees have.

And see what happened yesterday to the Pats? Tom Brady isn’t right because you’re taking away his favorite Yankee blog. Already the impacts are being felt! Sure you don’t wan to reconsider?? I don’t know where I will get my Yankee info from. Thanks for the memories Pete!!!

I returned from vacation and, after reading a reference to your departure in one of today’s posts, I decided to scroll back to see what was going on. I found this post and my fears were confirmed. I read this blog several times per day but have never before posted. I share the sentiments of many of the 800+ previous commenters in that I am happy for you but sad for myself. Your reporting and insight have been integral to my experience as a Yankees fan these past 2-3 years and I will greatly miss your contributions to this blog. I wish you the best of luck in Boston.

Not to be a jerk, but is that necessarily a good idea ? The Globe is not exactly the picture of financial health right now. There are offers on the table to buy what sold in the 90s for 1+ billion dollars for $35M, which is less than the Globe’s current debt.

“Painful restructuring” at the Globe may be a layoff in the hypothetical future.

I would normally say “CONGRATULATIONS”, but living in the Boston area, I know the Globe is not exactly a prime employer at the moment.
