Just a thought - Yankees get swept at Anaheim (aka Yankee house of Horror) and lose the next Series to Boston. The Red Sox proceed to win the AL East on the last day of the season. Do you celebrate the wild card then?

0 times, the playoffs have essentially been a foregone conclusion for a month. If they did something amazing to clinch a berth, it would be acceptable.

Pop the cork 3 times, one for each playoff series win, which is already one too many.

I forgot which college hoops team it was ... but about 15 years ago one team left the nets up after winning their final four berth, rather than cutting them down as is traditionally done.

If Girardi were to persuade the team to save the champagne for after the last game in October, there would be a better sense of the ultimate goal.

How many celebrations are there now for a WS winner BEFORE they win the WS? Celebrate the LCS after celebrating the LDS after celebrating the division ... do they really HAVE to celebrate merely clinching a playoff spot?

Something about the celebrations is different too. Clubhouse staff covers everything in plastic before the end of the game? Protect the catered spread? Guys wearing plastic? Face masks? Goggles? C'mon ... that's like putting on five condoms PLUS a raincoat, rubber gloves and a gas mask when you go out on a date.

On the other hand ... it depends on who you're going on a date with I suppose ...

It makes sense to celebrate just once, but on the front end. Making the playoffs is the immediate goal within reach - there should be no distinguishing between making the playoffs and winning the division as far as celebrations go.

LMAO. Very few would have gotten that. Not sure that I’m the antler type. The opposite end is the best fit.

I wasn't going there because I didn't want to start a fight out of respect for Pete.

I was thinking more Blitzkrieg than field trip semantics I suppose.

"No popping until the World Series all other victories are meaningless."

So if wins are meaningless are losses meaningful?

Come on Diva lighten up, we lost Peter’s insight but we still do have our wonderful team, a bunch of promising youngsters on the verge and the remainder of the 2009 season to enjoy.

Things could be much worst. This blog will evolve into something different for better or worst we’ll have to wait and see.

I have had more fun watching this team then I have had watching other yankee teams in a long while. I know that when other sites have changed though it isn't usually for the better. I guess we will find out soon enough.
