Losing Hairston doesn't hurt at all. You don't need as many pitchers in the postseason and Hairston brings little value over others on the roster. Pena can bunt and run as well as Hairston and is a better infielder. Hairston is a career .701 OPS guy (he has an OPS of .750 with us)so he is not a good hitter. Pena is better from the left side and Hairston is better from the right, but who would you ever pinch it for with Hairston? As for defense in the OF Hairston has not looked that good and Guzman I would think is better. People overrate Hairston because he can backup a lot of positions. the problem with that thought process is that on the Yankees you don't need that flexibility because your lineup is pretty much your lineup and you don;t do a lot of pinch hitting. Therefore, all you need is a pinch runner and defensive replacement.

Mr. Hairston has been a swing for the fences singles hitter since his days in Baltimore.
Pena is a far better fielder. And may just be a better hitter. Just another dumb cashman deal. Nothing better than an injury to force the team to do what it should have done in the 1st place.

Hairston seems like a really nice guy. I hope he turns out to be OK.

Hinske is a good hitter, but he's such a bad fielder, I can't see him being of much use in the playoffs. Unless some regular is injured, I don't see a need for Hinske until game 3 of the world series, when he could pinch hit for the pitcher.

Angel, Thank's for all the support during this rough stretch ( 0-10 ) ....However I want to thank Erica, her advise ( shower ) was the key.......I went 0-12 once with a bat in my hands, but never expierenced a 10 game losing streak......I was comp'd with 3 rd row seats behind the plate....AJ was amazing, he was running 2 seamers to rh hitters that had Maddox like movement, except they were being deleivered at 97....The Maddox pitch was flat & up, and very hittable....Ducan, for all his size had no chance and frankly I think anyone not named Iciro really would have had a chance, ball was smoked.....Ian, didn't get much love from the blue, however he grew up abit today....
