I find it funny to read comments about the young players (many of whom will probably not make it to the post season roster) "whooping it up" at the celebration. Personally, I think anyone who is on the active roster SHOULD take pride in clinching the Division Title--it was a team effort. Most of these guys (veterans included) may never have this experience again. Some of the young guys or the journeymen might never even see the majors again. Let them all enjoy this moment--even if their own ride on this train ends in 7 days. It is special. I keep having to remind myself of how special it is, in spite of the number of times this team has had the honor of experiencing it in my lifetime. Not everyone is fortunate enough to have a champagne moment during his career.

Hopefully there will be three more before the year is done.

I feel for him. My dad had quad bypass. So scary. Every time someone came into the waiting room, we had chills going up & down our spine. Extremely tough situation. God Bless.

McAdam doesn’t work at the ProJo anymore doofess. Enjoy your AL East title, because just like 2004, that’s all you’re getting. Your team with it’s one pitcher won’t get by Detroit….much to your shagrin

You've thought that you have successfully trolled us, but your 'killer line' is spoiled by such an awkward misspelling... much to your chagrin

//sure that’s to give Sean McAdam more time to think up a creative twist that might put the Sux in a good light,//

Alriiiiiight!

I like that Matsui's the guy who got the game winning RBI that clinched the division, after everyone thought he wasn't worth keeping around.

I hope they give him another year or two (or year plus option) as DH because he's producing a the plate as much as he was before he got hurt.

Any of the aging core players can still field their positions (Posada for example) and are a year or two away from needing to become DH. Why not bring Matsui back for the DH role in the meantime? Hopefully he and the team can agree on a fair salary. He's not an all-star OF anymore so he shouldn't expect that kind of money, but he can still hit. That's the kind of player you use for a DH.

On a side note, if I was manager (yeah right) of ANY team I'd put it in the young players heads before the division clinching celebration: After winning the WS is the ONLY real celebration, and you'll look like morons celebrating the division like it was the WS. Even more so if you don't win the WS. Celebrate a little, but act like you have it in perspective.

I think the chemistry has been changing for the last few years, since they got Damon and Melky and Cano came up. The bad chemistry years were the aging players w/ attitude years.
=========================================

Absolutely!

You subtract Kevin Brown, Randy Johnson, Sheffield, Pavano and Add Swisher, CC, Mr Pie, Robbie.

I know winning breeds chemistry. But they were winning up until game 5 of the 2004 alcs. Do you think that team had tons of fun? They hold cranky old man Brown, Sheffield, etc on the team.
