Celebrate Mariano and help a worthy cause

During batting practice before Tuesday’s game, I looked over to the area in front of the Yankees dugout and thought I saw a familiar face. Joe Torre’s wife, Ali, was standing there along with several folks from the Safe at Home Foundation.

Turns out they were there working on a video montage that will honor Mariano Rivera at this year’s foundation gala on Nov. 13 at Chelsea Piers in Manhattan. Since this is the 10-year anniversary of the 1999 World Series where Rivera was the MVP, it’s a great choice and the event is always a lot of fun. If you’re interested in attending the event – and seeing a ton of Yankees, as well as a performance from Paul Simon – you can find out more information here.
