Josh i really like you, and with all the respect to Sam, i think Josh is better, he uses easier words which allows me to read quicker and i think better grammer as well.

(meanwhile you both are probably better reporters then Pete, but Pete had his special humor, which is irreplaceable).

This is no time of the season for the Yanks to be getting into wristicuffs

--------------------------------------------------

I agree!!! There's no sense in getting anyone injured in a fight. However, I think that Yankee fans in Florida can show the Rays management what they think by staying away from the the ballpark. If we can hit them where it hurts (in the pocketbook) then it will hurt the owner and then eventually the players.

The Rays players, in general and Price, in particular have to realize that baseball is in the enetrtainment business...its not war. Winning and losing doesn't always impact gate receipts. The Rays won the American League pennat last year and are struggling to draw 20,000 fans per game this year. They need to do more things to make fans want to come out to the ballpark...and throwing at a guy like Teixeira doesn't do that.

Hopefully, all Yankee fans will stop attending Rays home games and let that action be a message to the Rays organization. Starve the owner...Starve the organization...starve the bush league Rays players.

How do you aim for the wrists?

The ball was thrown much closer to his chin and shoulder than his hands/wrists.

"I can’t be the only one to have noticed the improved coverage after Pete’s departure. And Chad has not yet arrived! Josh and Sam, you guys are doing great work."

Could not agree more. And no more insulting/condescending attitude.

Crawdaddy

Did you see the game? See the replay of the pitch? Hear Cone's commentary on it?

Joe Maddon basically had his team throw at a one of a playoff bound team's best players, with intent to injure.

Is it a coincidence that the throw was at Texeiera, in the first inning, at the wrist from a team in which their HR leading first baseman is out for the season from a broken wrist thrown by the Yankees?

Sorry, but there are just too many coincidences to ignore. I think the plan on the Yankees (wisely) is to downplay it and ignore it. Do you think with the way the Yankee clubhouse is this season that this was not a topic of discussion?

This is not over, not by a long shot. I'm just curious to see how it plays out. It doesn't seem like it, but this is a big test of Girardi's leadership skills.

A few notes:

Joe Maddon and the Rays are incredibly, and breathtakingly, bush league in throwing at Texiera. I am shocked that the umps and the league did not do more. Those clowns in TB will be going home in 48 hours to golf, so I don't really care about them. Maddon takes all the blame on this one.

How will the Yankees retaliate? My hope? Yankees wait until the 8th or 9th inning of the last game, and then Girardi rips into Maddon from the bench. In the postgame, the "discussion" continues. You can't suspend anyone for arguing with each other, can you?

I am shocked that nobody in MLB has made a statement on this. What happened was that a team intentionally tried to injure a star player on a playoff bound team 6 days before the start of the playoffs. And MLB just sits on their collective tuchas?

If they get away with it, that will be the MO going forward for September. You suck as a club, are going nowhere, and have an axe to grind? Just throw at ARod, Tex, etc when you play them in a a meaningless game. Who cares if you get suspended? The other team can't do anything, since they can't risk suspension or a fight right before the postseason.

If Tex gets thrown at today or Sunday, if I were Girardi I would take the team off the field until the umps sort it all out. It is their responsibility to control the game.

Tex? Let him hit home run number 40 in the 9th at the Trop, and do a Manny like pose for a minute before circling the bases. Let the entire team come out on the field and celebrate with a lot of noise. Hopefully Pena would be in the dugout. Let Maddon come out and try to argue it with Girardi.

I am still shocked 10 hours later how incredible what happened to Tex was. I think the Yankees are too. I'm sure it affected CC tonight, not being able to retaliate. That likely contributed to the poor play.

@sevrox: Sam said a day or two ago that he had heard from SJ44 and that he's not leaving this board or anything like that, but that he's just really busy [playoffs!] and will be back when he can.

Random trolls no one has ever heard of challenging GB7. [I am hearing "This town ain't big enough for the two of us, Stranger" and other showdown convo...] Well, that's just fine, skippy, but know who you're dealing with. GB is a crabby ol' cuss, and ya know what? He's earned it. Trolls and pi$$ants make a lot of us crabby, actually. Now you know....

That picture bears a striking resemblance to Theo Epstein...

So folks get a thread of doubt about CC's ability in October due to a one-game meltdown.

Whatever happened to SJ44? Good to see GB7 keeping folks in their place. I miss Pete Abe's cutting sarcasm - he was the ultimate actor covering the Yanks while being a Sox fan. Admirable trait.
