raymagnetic, I think your anger toward Scioscia is misplaced and should have been directed at Torre all those years. Scioscia had a formula of play that Torre refused to match and therefore allowed the Yankees to always be on their heels worried about Scioscia's next move. I think (hope) Girardi has figured out Scioscia this year - when you put him back on his heels his team's weaknesses get exposed in the same way a screen passing football team can expose a bad defense that makes themselves seem stronger because they blitz all the time.

Pete’s real value to this blog was the inside info he offered from his fly on the wall observations from the clubhouse and the insight he gained from his relationships with the players. I doubt he’ll really hit his stride on the new blog until he develops those traits in Boston.
______________________________________________

I agree, from his post today it seems he is not going to be the full time beat writer but will be around from time to time. It is possible he never gets the type of access to the players he had in NY, def wont happen this year due to relationships etc. I think this will open him up to do more actual writing and less blog posting. With that said I will read his blog as well, and wish him the best.

As far as this blog, it has not skipped a beat. Not one. I am shocked that I feel the value of it has actually gone up. Sometimes we may miss Pete's personality but I really hope Sam stays involved over the winter and next year as I have gotten to like the way he does things. He has kept all the good stuff Pete did and added some really good things that were not here before.

Ray I don't hate the Angels but would love vindication. Yeah I can see that. Because I personally have an easy time thinking of 2004 as 2004* the sting isn't there for me. I actually hated the one and out with the Tigers more.

NYY626, As painful as 2004 was I really think there is nothing better in sports than a Yankee/Red Sox series so I can never root against it. Especially with the current cast of characters on each team who seem to really revel in the historic rivalry (Varitek, Posada, Rivera, Jeter, Youkilis, Lowell, Beckett and Papelbon)

NYY626 - all absolutely good and valid points. I totally understand the ambivalence.

However consider this. Playing the Sux is always an exhausting proposition. By the time the ALCS is over, the world series is almost an afterthought - if you know what I mean. I think the pain would be greater if the Yanks go all the way and the Sux are one and out. And no matter how you slice it, the Yankas winning the world series is the ultimate prize. Still, I understand the ambivalence.

Must be a personal thing, but I hate the Angels as much and maybe even more than I hate the Red Sox.

I especially can't stand looking at Mike Scoiscia's smug face in the dugout.

Just once I would like to see the Yankees wipe that smug look off of Fat Scoscia's face.
