Scioscia had a formula of play that Torre refused to match and therefore allowed the Yankees to always be on their heels worried about Scioscia's next move. I think (hope) Girardi has figured out Scioscia this year - when you put him back on his heels his team's weaknesses get exposed in the same way a screen passing football team can expose a bad defense that makes themselves seem stronger because they blitz all the time. raymagnetic, I think your anger toward Scioscia is misplaced and should have been directed at Torre all those years. I totally understand the ambivalence. However consider this. Playing the Sux is always an exhausting proposition. By the time the ALCS is over, the world series is almost an afterthought - if you know what I mean. I think the pain would be greater if the Yanks go all the way and the Sux are one and out.
