A-Rod: It felt good to get it out of the way
I’m on a deadline but here’s some quick audio from Alex Rodriguez. He said all the right things, praising Derek Jeter and CC Sabathia, but also admitting that, “It felt good to get that hit out of the way.”

Good, now everyone, EVERYONE, can stop talking about it. Including Pete. Just kidding, Pete!
Nick, I believe you have been e-mailed
listening to arods interviews are just delightful these days…he always gives everyone else the credit…seems so much more comfortable talking to reporters..

its not A-Rod’s fault.
Arod is always in the middle of everything LOL

What exactly did CC say about Jorge? I missed it as I’ve been flipping between pressers…..
If Alex continues this, we may have no choice but to award ALDS MVP to his sports psychologist.
Alex did say all the right things…….but he was very natural, it wasn’t forced. He really went out of his way to compliment Jeter………..
Betsy,
CC basically only said that the two cross ups was Posada’s fault for one of them, and the other was CC’s fault.
Harumph. Jeter might have something to say about that. Al’s only batting .500. Jeter’s still batting a thousand.
A_rod had an awesome presser, just finished on YES. Was very complimentary of the team and totally focused on just getting 10 more wins.
The way he talked about Jeter evoked the kind of giddy enthusiasm that he had when they were rising stars and friends.
Though their relationship has cooled, you could really feel the respect flowing from A-rod’s words
Phil on now…..
Phil said he wanted to get beat on his best pitch if he was going to get beat, which would explain the fastballs x infinite
In years past, A Rod would be on the ground with the camera falling on his head, this is a vast improvement. Must be Kate. Imagine having Goldie Hawn as your Mother In Law.
Jeez Erica. Get a life. You’ve hijacked the comments
Jerkface, Alex and Jeter are really friends…..but you’re right. I do think Alex admires Jeter tremendously.

*******
Ed, thanks……I’m surprised that CC would put it that bluntly, that it was Po’s fault. I guess the truth hurts, lol
Erica, Uncle Ellsworth: Mission accomplished.
That Chien Ming Arods high-fiving in that picture.
And TBS. Get your moron cameramen away from our players!
Kate Hudson for president!
I love Phil’s attitude….man, that was a huge at bat. The difference between Mauer with the bases loaded vs. Mauer with no one on is ridiculously enormous……..
Magic #10. Need 2 more wins in 4 games! Hopefully we get it done by Sunday night!
Wang IS Taiwan: are you still out there? I asked you a question before but then I had to leave the blog for a while.
It is obvious that Jeter and Arod have finally got to a good place in their relationship. It’s nice to see.
thanks nick
Gardy on Yanks lineup: “Everyone’s a stinking allstar.”
LOL so that’s what happened when I thought my HD loss power.
Betsy, The Hughes /Caberra confrontation was the game…..Hughes located that pitch were OC could not hit it…..His control is his guiding beam to fame
Carpenter and Wolf aren’t sharp at all.

Watching Donnie Baseball in the dugout. (don’t like the billy goat look). I think he’ll make a good manager one day.
It was a tough rookie year for Girardi, he took a lot of abuse even though he did a good job from the dugout. (who cares how he was with the media?).
But what a year this has been for him. He’s got these Yankees hitting on all cylinders. I won’t count them out of anything, until there’s zero outs left.
Great job by Girardi.

She’s not one of my favorite actresses. lol
But if she makes Al happy, fantastic
Pat M, yep……..I’m sorry I didn’t tape it so I could watch it again. I guess it will be on Yankees.com later – at least I hope so. Phil’s control is outrageously good. I had made a comment earlier that he wasn’t sharp……because 2 pitches to Cuddyer, I think, were out of the zone. I’m so used to him being pinpoint perfect. Phil made 1 pitch to Mauer that was a thing of beauty – I forget what count it was. My favorite quality about Phil is his unflappable nature……..
In watching Manny bat this year, he still does that bat swing before the pitch, but it seems a lot more awkward. Anyone else notice that?
He used to do the windmill swing much smoother.

Please stop trying to provoke me into an argument with you. Oddly enough, I have only posted twice on this thread (and that includes this reply to you). If you don’t like me, just scroll past me. I am not going to fight with you
Dodgers 3-1 on Carpenter!!
Wow, where was that ball being thrown to? DeRosa just air mailed it into right field. Strange. Hmmm, kind of reminds me of someone who played on the Yankees…
Abda,
His throwing hand got nicked barreling back to 1st on a force attempt.
But that was gross. If it’s going to be a problem, they need to take him out.

Oh dear, in that picture we can almost see that cameraman’s..um “strike zone”.
The MLB.tv feeds of the Dodgers game is great. I’m focused in on a live feed of the Dodgers dugout, which should be renamed the “Joe Torre Schnoz Cam”.
Girardi showed tonight that the backend of the bullpen for the alds will be Rivera/Hughes/Chamberlain/Coke.
Wolfe may not be shatp, but Carpenter (63 pitches after 4) is worse.
LaRussa has the bull pen warming up.
just one win, guys. We need AJ pitch well to have a chance to close the series on Sunday.
LOL

Jay-Z is one ugly Mofo lol. how the hell he got such a Goddess like Beyonce I will never know

Kepner uses ‘Posada’, ‘glare’, and ‘Sabathia’ in the same sentence.
Alex can relax now. Hopefully he’ll just rake
“Asked why pitchers seem to like to throw to him, the portly Molina had a simple answer.
“Big target,” he said.”
And now I love him even more!
Watch that little devil vs Yuuuuusssse

They only wake Torre up for the really important games.
i didnt read any of the game blog…but did anyone else hate the announcing on TBS..especially that darling guy.
I couldn’t help but get aggravated every time they said Phillip Hughes… i have never heard anyone call him that except them over and over like it was a normal thing to do
trisha,
earlier in this dodger broadcast, they were talking about Yadier’s defense and what not. so i was thinking to myself if benjie & jose used to say, “It’s always, ‘Yadi, Yadi, Yadi’”
The Yankees game being early was no problem at all.Now we get to see the other games. Dodgers 3-2
Don’t go there, Jeet Skeet, Darling has a lot of integrity.
Jay-Z looks a little like Delmon Young. Then again, Young looks like Rick Moranis.
I’m detecting a definite “there’s no I in team” theme from everyones postgames tonight- Matsui, Alex and Swish.
Zillo has been working overtime with this group.
is that sarcasm nick?
More like an in joke. I guess some sarcasm comes into play. But I also like Darling. Or don’t dislike him, at the least.
pat,
Did you notice that the Yankees and Alex have used a lot of my ideas I suggested to rehab Alex’s image? :gloat:
Jeet,
No, he’s teasing me because Darling was born in Hawaii. Jim P accused Kurt Suzuki of having no integrity and I told him that he didn’t know jack. And so, from then on everyone from Hawaii has integrity.
Darling is great.
Rumour has it, if you get him really drunk, he’ll recount his tales of streaking through the Skull and Bones house on the Yale Campus. Good times.
So A-Rod and Jeter have the same scriptwriter now. Wow…talk about canned responses. Alex almost sounded robotic @ “Jeet…JE-TER”
Anyhoo…great start! CC was great even without his best stuff. Tex should get some hits soon, and Matsui being Matsui!
Only thing that kinda worried me was Posada. The PBs and the game calling as Darling said over the broadcast. Slowing CC down, and all the time outs he called.
Baby Jesus is some kind of hitter.
GO YANKS!
Darling being a former Mutt doesn’t have a lot of lovin’ for the Yankees. He isn’t bad for the most part though. The other guy, Chip Caray should be a game show host rather than a baseball announcer. He is just plain terrible.
Is Torre really bringing Weaver Sr. into this game?
It’s not even extra innings yet.
just got back from the game in bleacher creature country…what a fun time.
anyways, i am SO happy this blog finally has guys running it w/o the sarcastic anti-yankee quips. reading a blog run by a redsox fan was very difficult. now, the blog is cooking and i’m glad sam + chad are running things now…
LOL! the high-5 gone wrong between Wang and Alex reminds me of Tiger and his caddie Steve.
“earlier in this dodger broadcast, they were talking about Yadier’s defense and what not. so i was thinking to myself if benjie & jose used to say, “It’s always, ‘Yadi, Yadi, Yadi’” ”
mel, on the YES postgame they did a preview of the pitcher for Friday’s game. I have to tell you that Singleton, Cone, (and I believe Flats was there) referred to Aj having better numbers with Molina and then they showed a cut of AJ pitching and the beginning of the cut had balls going all over the place and the end of the cuts had him throwing gas and striking out batters. I thought to myself that all the Ks were to Molina, and Singleton verified at the end that all of the balls not being caught were “not caught” by Posada.
I find it interesting that they continue to mention “the numbers while some of the extremely emphatic posters here continue to say numbers are meaningless!
Anyway, you know that I will always defer to the Yankee org. experts over the lohud experts.
I also love seeing that Andy and AJ seem to have really paired off as buddies this season.
“I do think Alex admires Jeter tremendously.”
Of course he does. A-Rod spends more time staring lovingly at his framed and autographed picture of Jeter than he does admiring himself in the mirror.
That’s love.
Jeff Weaver in when base is loaded?
omg
Nick in SF in Larkspur,
To answer your previous question. I don’t think Taiwan media showing that much attention on this game compared with 2007 CMW’s start against Tigers. But still, everyone here is happy about Yankees’ victory. Especially clutch A-Rod…
