Now I am starting to expect it from A-Rod; even from the whole team, I bet AJ has to go get more pie pans.

Zero, You don’t put the tying run on and have the winning run coming to the plate…..

Generally speaking I would agree with you, but I dont agree that a fastball right over the plate in a 3-1 count to ARod is the right idea either. Considering Matsui has a hard time getting to first on a walk, I think id take my chances with getting him into a double play.

Joe from LongIsland,
Kate Hudson film festival--Now that was funny. I felt it necessary to read it to my totally disinterested wife. She laughed as well.

AJ did a great job tonight. He went 6 innings and gave up 1 run. How much better do you want him to be?

And I do not buy at all that the Red Sox or Angels would have killed him tonight b/c he walked 5 in that great 15 inning game vs the Red Sox and they did not score a single run. He has also had a number of other great or very good starts where he walked a lot of guys. I think they said tonight that AJ is the best if not one of the best pitchers this year with guys on base. He is going to walk guys. That is him.

Vin youve got to be kidding. Nathan is a monster ?? Get real. In tight, pressure packed spots Ive seen him melt like an ice cream cone. I was watching his facial expressions and I called him blowing the save. He was tight as a drum.

hughes wasn’t *terrible*. looked like gangbusters against the first 2 guys. then walked gomez b/c he kept throwing outside and missing the plate. then gave up a solid hit to right. and then threw a curve that was slapped looped into center.
didn’t pitch awful but the walk is what hurt him. the first 2 batters, he looked dominant against.

—————————-

No. Please do not sugercoat Hughes performance. He was terrible. He walked a guy with a career .292 OBP and proceeded to give up hits to the 8 and 9 hitters who have career .267 average and .248 respectively.

I do not care what he did for the first two batters. Hughes has been great but his outing was pretty much atrocious. There is no excuse for walking Carlos Gomez and then getting beat by two scrubs.

He choked and I guess that is going to happen but it is a bit concerning that so far in this series he has been real shaky under the spotlight. Yes he got the job done yesterday but it took him close to 30 pitches to get out 2 batters.

Gardenhire came off very poor in that presser. I'm sorry but his team blew a lot of chances then he acts as though the difference of 1 base was the whole cause of his team blowing it? Mauer was on second with a single hit and he didn't score then. The fact is his team didn't push across runs when they were given chances to far too many times for my comfort. Who is that on? The umpires or his team?
