Tex got the pie; Robertson got the belt

Obviously the two big hits – A-Rod’s and Mark Teixeira’s – are the things that people will be talking about for days (and years) to come. But don’t forget Dave Robertson because the Yankees sure didn’t.

For working his way out of a bases-loaded, none out jam in the top of the 11th, Robertson got the championship belt from his teammates. For a kid who was in Dr. Andrews’s office a month ago and was pitching in his first postseason game, that’s pretty impressive.

Totally deserved it … The kid is amazing !!

They should make Tag Team Belts though haha Arod and Tex deserve those … What a game !!!

  3. S.A.--Serenity Now

    Amazing
    :)

  4. Tom in N.J.

totally called it on facebook an hour ago hahaha

  6. Nick in SF

AJ did not give up 7 walks, he gave up 5 walks and 2 HBP. And 3 hits. With 6 K’s. In 6 innings.

    Doh!

I can see how a Twins fan would be upset over a blown call like that. But the fallacy of the predetermined outcome comes into play. Mauer on 2nd, next 3 guys can strikeout. You don’t know what would happen. Different pitch selection, different infield positioning and hitter mindset.

If I’m I Twins fans, I take loaded based 0 out as opposed to man on 2B with 0 outs.

Either way, maybe this is our Jeffrey Maier moment for this year and a sign of good things to come :)

  9. Chambliss

I am still speechless. What a great game. Burnett was very very good despite the walks and HBP’s. If the Yankees had scored 4 or 5 runs we would be talking a lot more about AJ’s performance.

IN any event, A-Rod can start playing up to his ability now that he has shaken the “choker
mentality. Seeing A-Rod in the dugout with Jeter after the homer was priceless. Jeter gave A-Rod a little bump on the shoulder as if to say, “welcome to the club”.

Epic meltdown for the Twins after outplaying the Yankees for 8 plus innings.

Yankees need to put this thing away against glass Carl on Sunday.

Now a win by the Angels would make it a perfect October night.

  10. Terry from NH

ESPN said of Tex’s HR that it was the fastest HR to leave a park in MLB all year… 2.88 Seconds.. amazing!

  11. Will

The understated MVP of game 2
