    this game is long

  3. canofan42 October 18th, 2009 at 12:52 am

I want this game to end with a Yankees win so badly… I can’t take this any longer.

  4. Bronx Jeers October 18th, 2009 at 12:52 am

I am not a happy man right now.

  5. 100 pitches of fun... October 18th, 2009 at 12:52 am

Can that idiot at 2nd base field an easy ground ball? Now he can’t hit, can’t field. He has problems..

  6. Rishi October 18th, 2009 at 12:52 am

not Gaudin warming here…please. get out of this with no runs, please

  7. m October 18th, 2009 at 12:52 am

Gotta put A-boo-boo on with the IBB

  8. Brandon Awesome (BECAUSE I'M AWESOME!) October 18th, 2009 at 12:52 am

NGL, I think we lose it here. D-Rob would have to be SuperMan to hold them here.

  9. Mac Daddy October 18th, 2009 at 12:52 am

cano, take off the hoodie you panzy and play baseball!!

  10. zmaster!! October 18th, 2009 at 12:53 am

    cano :(

  11. vin October 18th, 2009 at 12:53 am

I’m running out of finger nails! literally.

  12. Yanks_Fan October 18th, 2009 at 12:53 am

What an atrocious game by Cano!

  13. 100 pitches of fun... October 18th, 2009 at 12:53 am

FYI, the Yanks have Gardner and Guzman leading off the bottom of the inning. If Robertson gives up this run it’s going to be very hard to come back.

  14. Angel - A tale told by idiots - full of sound and fury, signifying nothing. October 18th, 2009 at 12:54 am

I’d like to see you function out there in cold like that, 100 pitches.

Its definitely easy to be critical from behind your screen in your warm house.

  15. NY24 October 18th, 2009 at 12:54 am

I love Posada, but if he wasn’t such an idiot baserunner this game probably would be over. Cost it

  16. dave October 18th, 2009 at 12:54 am

for such a great team… we really do have players with some frustrating deficiencies

  17. DT - OPPC member (blood type - Positive) October 18th, 2009 at 12:54 am

    What a game.

Mr. Robertson pick up your teammates and get out of this.

  18. G. Love October 18th, 2009 at 12:54 am

Cano should be ashamed of himself. Plain and simple. Take off that GD ear muffs and play like a man.

  19. Jeff NJ October 18th, 2009 at 12:54 am

Tomorrow is CC’s throw day right?

  20. Part V October 18th, 2009 at 12:54 am

Cano strikes back in the bottom of the 13th

  21. Brandon Awesome (BECAUSE I'M AWESOME!) October 18th, 2009 at 12:54 am

    El Duque’s spirit your over 40, please stay w/ D-Rob here! :(

  22. Trevor October 18th, 2009 at 12:54 am

12 hits and only 3 runs. This game should be over if they could get a big hit.

  23. YankeeRay October 18th, 2009 at 12:54 am

Cano’s new name is the Matador. Slide over and get in front of the ball

  24. Jacob October 18th, 2009 at 12:54 am

i think ive gotten an ulcer from this game…..come on yankss

  25. ed - 2009 will be the year of the Yanks October 18th, 2009 at 12:54 am

that was a scary swing by Hunter.

  26. Boston Dave October 18th, 2009 at 12:54 am

they really need to pick Cano up here…

can’t let that cost them the game.

  27. Matt October 18th, 2009 at 12:54 am

So many routine misplays tonight. You just cannot miss balls like that in the postseason whatsoever. The Yankees defense has cost their pitchers so many pitches tonight.

  28. BigSix October 18th, 2009 at 12:54 am

    Good feelings long gone.

    Torii is overdue here.

    Cano killed this inning.

  29. gianna24 October 18th, 2009 at 12:55 am

    NY24 – I agree with you!!

  30. Scared of the Wall October 18th, 2009 at 12:55 am

I have a feeling Hairston will be pinch hitting for Guzman… at least he should be after Guzman’s horrendous last at bat.

  31. Mehdi also in SF October 18th, 2009 at 12:55 am

If we lose this I hope we go out there and take three in a row.

  32. Derek October 18th, 2009 at 12:55 am

    HeavyHitter,

Please tell me you’ve come to this thread. Who else can protect us from social injustices via comment thread?

  33. Ted Williams' Head October 18th, 2009 at 12:55 am

Why did Joe burn Swish? Might need him to pitch…!

  34. Mac Daddy October 18th, 2009 at 12:55 am

amazed at how many empty seats there now are…it saturday night people, where’re you going??

  35. Carl October 18th, 2009 at 12:55 am

    Come on Yanks

  36. Adam October 18th, 2009 at 12:55 am

This is rediculous!!! How many opportunities are you gonna give this team!!!! Routine ground ball!!!!! Even If we win this was a horribly played game. Anyone else about to lose their mind, and nerves breakdown?

  37. BigSix October 18th, 2009 at 12:55 am

    dont hang a curve!!!

  38. gianna24 October 18th, 2009 at 12:55 am

Cano has been just awful…he is driving me crazy!

  39. Yankees Sandy October 18th, 2009 at 12:55 am

Why do so many posts think they are funny?

They are not and lack knowledge.

  40. Boston Dave October 18th, 2009 at 12:55 am

nice one Jose…no way Posada makes that stop

    oh… wait?

  41. HeavyHitter October 18th, 2009 at 12:55 am

Robertson is Superman. Highest strikeout rate in AL. I’m feelin’ goooooooooooood.

  42. Rishi October 18th, 2009 at 12:56 am

they can come out like that again?

  43. Valerie G. October 18th, 2009 at 12:56 am

    defense is against us tonight.

  44. Derek October 18th, 2009 at 12:56 am

    Really Girardi?

    Obviously you’re buying time.

  45. dave October 18th, 2009 at 12:56 am

wow that was lucky jorge, ya think you can go and block that ball next time?

  46. dave October 18th, 2009 at 12:56 am

haha, thank you – that was better

  47. Yankees Sandy October 18th, 2009 at 12:56 am

derek why are you such a jerk? is life so bad for you the only joy is to be mean? sad person you are.

  48. Rishi October 18th, 2009 at 12:56 am

there is no one left to pitch, Robertson…please keep it together

  49. BigSix October 18th, 2009 at 12:57 am

    High FB inside…

  50. Mac Daddy October 18th, 2009 at 12:57 am

you can come out for a medical visit and it doesnt count as a visit to the mound

  51. Betsy October 18th, 2009 at 12:57 am

I can’t even pick a goat of the game – if they lose, there are way too many options. Cano would be a good choice, making his pitchers throw extra pitches.

  52. m October 18th, 2009 at 12:57 am

2 very nice stops by Posada.

    C’mon D-rob.

  53. JZ October 18th, 2009 at 12:57 am

    Robertson is done.

  54. JasonR October 18th, 2009 at 12:57 am

    Throw a GD strike

  55. Vader October 18th, 2009 at 12:57 am

    Does he send the runners?

  56. Scared of the Wall October 18th, 2009 at 12:57 am

Cano is definitely affected by the cold.

Last night he kept on clutching on to one of those handwarmers in the field. I was concerned that a ball was going to be hit at him and he would be holding on to that stupid handwarmer.

  57. 100 pitches of fun... October 18th, 2009 at 12:57 am

I am glad they walked Abreu to put another unner on base..Vlad on deck.

  58. Bobby "Bye Bye" Abreu October 18th, 2009 at 12:57 am

Football is on today. Who you got?

  59. Trevor October 18th, 2009 at 12:57 am

If they take the lead the game is over simply because of 2 of the 3 hitters being up next.

  60. Derek October 18th, 2009 at 12:58 am

Honestly, get Gaudin in there. The probably of this game going another 3-4 innings is incredibly low. I would rather have a fresh arm in there than chance losing it now with a dead arm.

  61. JZ October 18th, 2009 at 12:58 am

I bet Angels will get more more hit in this inning

  62. HeavyHitter October 18th, 2009 at 12:58 am

Derek – I’ve got your back. Go Yankees!

  63. RS October 18th, 2009 at 12:58 am

No breaking balls in the dirt. Throw him your best fastball

  64. Imback October 18th, 2009 at 12:58 am

Gotta love abreus attitude. Having fun still

  65. Mehdi also in SF October 18th, 2009 at 12:58 am

Cano will probably go on a tear in Anaheim where it’s warmer. What a sissy.

  66. m October 18th, 2009 at 12:59 am

One more, please. Please. I want to eat.

  67. 100 pitches of fun... October 18th, 2009 at 12:59 am

Great walking Abreu now put 2 guys in scoring position. I don’t like this match up.

  68. Bobby "Bye Bye" Abreu October 18th, 2009 at 12:59 am

Can you imagine if the Angels score a run here and then the Yankees score a run in the bottom of the 13th to tie it? and then we go to 14 innings?

  69. Rishi October 18th, 2009 at 12:59 am

please…one more out Robertson…one more out

  70. Derek October 18th, 2009 at 12:59 am

This is not a good situation.

  71. 100 pitches of fun... October 18th, 2009 at 12:59 am

    Fastballs inside…

  72. m October 18th, 2009 at 12:59 am

Just don’t bounce any more balls in front of the plate, please.

  73. Mac Daddy October 18th, 2009 at 12:59 am

i hope im wrong but i sense wild pitch

  74. The Ghost October 18th, 2009 at 1:00 am

That hit and run is the difference right there between Girardi and Scioscia.

  75. 100 pitches of fun... October 18th, 2009 at 1:00 am

They have to throw him fastballs inside…

  76. DT - OPPC member (blood type - Positive) October 18th, 2009 at 1:00 am

I have confidence in Robertson. He’ll get Vladdy.

  77. Imback October 18th, 2009 at 1:00 am

Maybe cano choked because he’s nervous Betsy will select him as the goat of the game?

  78. ed - 2009 will be the year of the Yanks October 18th, 2009 at 1:00 am

Mel..go eat already!!! its bad to starve your stomach!

  79. The Ghost October 18th, 2009 at 1:00 am

C’mon get this and build some momentum!

  80. Trevor October 18th, 2009 at 1:00 am

“Great walking Abreu now put 2 guys in scoring position.”

It didn’t help either that he ran the count full, allowing the runners to start.

  81. m October 18th, 2009 at 1:00 am

    High please.

  82. Jeff NJ October 18th, 2009 at 1:00 am

if we get Vlad, I think we’ll win it this inning.

  83. Derek October 18th, 2009 at 1:01 am

Good lord, this game is intense.

  84. HeavyHitter October 18th, 2009 at 1:01 am

    Vlad is history. Ancient history.

  85. Boston Dave October 18th, 2009 at 1:01 am

    PHEW!!!

    lets end this madness!

  86. Brandon Awesome (BECAUSE I'M AWESOME!) October 18th, 2009 at 1:01 am

  88. big dog October 18th, 2009 at 1:01 am

This is too much. I dont like baseball anymore

  89. Mehdi also in SF October 18th, 2009 at 1:01 am

    13 is our lucky number.

  90. Bronx Jeers October 18th, 2009 at 1:01 am

Now I get nervous on all balls to Cano.

    Thanks Robbie!

  91. ed - 2009 will be the year of the Yanks October 18th, 2009 at 1:01 am

will Girardi actually use Hairston now?

  92. 100 pitches of fun... October 18th, 2009 at 1:01 am

Nice, they get out of ANOTHER jam. Too bad Gardner and Guzman are leading off the inning.

  93. JasonR October 18th, 2009 at 1:01 am

    David Robertson=Big Game Pitcher

  94. Boston Dave October 18th, 2009 at 1:01 am

DirectTV and Black Eyed Peas are gettin their money’s worth!!

  95. Mac Daddy October 18th, 2009 at 1:01 am

robertson HAS to be ahead of aceves on the depth chart

  96. BigSix October 18th, 2009 at 1:01 am

You know what this game reminds me of?

    1995 ALDS Game 2.

    Anyone?

  97. m October 18th, 2009 at 1:01 am

lol @ Cano. He didn’t want to make an error.

Please, please, score. I’m tired of this Fergie/Will.I.am commercial.

  98. joeysdadjoe October 18th, 2009 at 1:01 am

I think there was a point early this year when Arte Moreno said he had to take care of Vlad when his contract was up.Wonder how he feels now?

  99. Mehdi also in SF October 18th, 2009 at 1:01 am

    Fergie is hideous.

  100. The Ghost October 18th, 2009 at 1:02 am

the 25th man on the roster is going to be the difference tonight!

  101. Jeff NJ October 18th, 2009 at 1:02 am

Yankees outlast Angels and win it in 13th as Gardner gets the Pie in the face. Book it.

  102. DFox October 18th, 2009 at 1:02 am

Wow, just have to pray Guzman or Gardner can find a way to get on. 2 strike bunt anyone???

  103. Steve October 18th, 2009 at 1:02 am

Wow, Cano fielded a ball cleanly!

  104. ed - 2009 will be the year of the Yanks October 18th, 2009 at 1:02 am

if the Yanks win now, it has Yankee classic written all over it!!!

    END THIS ALREADY!

  105. Tarheelyank October 18th, 2009 at 1:02 am

    Good for D Rob.

  106. HeavyHitter October 18th, 2009 at 1:02 am

No way Guzman hits again. He is a pinch-runner. That’s it.

  107. Betsy October 18th, 2009 at 1:02 am

That has to be it for Robby – can’t push him with his recent elbow issues. That means it’s Gaudin for however long………

  108. JasonR October 18th, 2009 at 1:02 am

Where is Hairston? Did someone check the attic?

  109. RS October 18th, 2009 at 1:02 am

Vlad is just terrible right now. He might actually find himself out of a job next season.

But anyhow…let’s go Freddy Guzman!! Or Hairston…

  110. JZ October 18th, 2009 at 1:02 am

who can hit a HR here?

  111. Rishi October 18th, 2009 at 1:02 am

been trying to change into my pj’s since I got home in the 8th inning…do you think it’s ok to change now?

  112. DT - OPPC member (blood type - Positive) October 18th, 2009 at 1:02 am

    Imback –

your schtick is sad dude. Just leave Betsy alone. Seriously.
you come on the internet and pick on someone?
    you are one tough guy!

  113. Boston Dave October 18th, 2009 at 1:02 am

maybe the guys are afraid of getting pied because the whipped cream is frozen

  114. Bobby "Bye Bye" Abreu October 18th, 2009 at 1:02 am

Vlad is the most unclutch player I’ve ever seen.

  115. S.A.--Serenity Now October 18th, 2009 at 1:02 am

  116. Jeff NJ October 18th, 2009 at 1:03 am

Big Six, I said that a few innings ago. Who is this game’s Jim Leyritz?

  117. 100 pitches of fun... October 18th, 2009 at 1:03 am

Robertson is probably done. If they don’t score Gaudin is next.

  118. Pat M. October 18th, 2009 at 1:03 am

Great job by Robertson….Cano will atone for his E-4′s tonight this inning…..Classic Playoff game….

  119. Derek October 18th, 2009 at 1:03 am

YES! I’d hit the $hit out of Fergie in that commercial! (looking at my gf sleeping on the couch)

  120. NYY626 October 18th, 2009 at 1:03 am

Baseball’s not supposed to be this stressful right?

  121. eric October 18th, 2009 at 1:03 am

    Mr. Cano gets pie perhaps?

  122. Eli October 18th, 2009 at 1:03 am

Sam, can you please ask Girardi why he didn’t run for Posada in the 12th? Hairston may have made it to second, and then scored on the Damon hit. What else was the point of having 3 catchers?

  123. GreenBeret7 October 18th, 2009 at 1:03 am

    GreenBeret7
    October 18th, 2009 at 12:55 am
Not sure what happened to Cano, because it was an easy play. I guess he thought the ball was going to bounce higher and it just didn’t come up high enough. Whatever, it was badly timed.

None of the errors have cost a run. So shove it with the whining. Where was the complaints about Jeter booting the easy play? Without Cano’s triple, this game was over 4 innings ago.

  124. Derek October 18th, 2009 at 1:03 am

Wow, look how cold Michael J. Fox looks in that commercial. Did they shoot that outside?

  125. bru October 18th, 2009 at 1:03 am

i just woke up with my face in a bowl of spaghetti

    are we still tied???

  126. Yanks_Fan October 18th, 2009 at 1:03 am

    Dear Yankees Offense:

Please have mercy on your hardcore fans and score a run in this bottom inning so we can get our heartbeats back to normal and celebrate a great win.

    Thanks in advance,

    Yanks_Fan

  127. igotid88 October 18th, 2009 at 1:03 am

Come on fast runners get on base.

  128. Jones October 18th, 2009 at 1:03 am

They had plenty of opportunities, Posada didn’t “cost it”
    Relax they’re still in this

    Nice Job Robertson

  129. Bobby "Bye Bye" Abreu October 18th, 2009 at 1:04 am

Yeah, I think the Yankees are secretly playing to lose because they don’t want Burnett chasing them around trying to pie them.

  130. Bronx Bombers Girl October 18th, 2009 at 1:04 am

    Hairston is up…..Come on…Let’s go YANKEE’s!!

  131. 100 pitches of fun... October 18th, 2009 at 1:04 am

Hairston who hasn’t had an at bat in years.

  132. Vader October 18th, 2009 at 1:04 am

    Hairston = Boone

  133. Brandon Awesome (BECAUSE I'M AWESOME!) October 18th, 2009 at 1:04 am

I’ll say it again, no matter what happens here

DAVID ROBERTSON HAS BALLS!! BALLS THE SIZE OF BEACH BALLS, BALLS OF STEEL!

  134. Trevor October 18th, 2009 at 1:04 am

Where was Hairston a couple of innings ago? Odd!

  135. ed - 2009 will be the year of the Yanks October 18th, 2009 at 1:04 am

about time, Hairston is being used!!!

  136. Derek October 18th, 2009 at 1:04 am

Can you imagine how bitter Tim McCarver’s twitter updates would be?

  137. CB October 18th, 2009 at 1:04 am

Tough to see why Aceves was used in this game before Robertson was.

Robertson has become a tremendous relief pitcher.

For him to pick up Cano and the entire team that way is just fantastic.

  138. Bronx Bombers Girl October 18th, 2009 at 1:04 am

    Hinske has the rally cap!

  139. The Ghost October 18th, 2009 at 1:04 am

why is Guzman not bunting, the grass is wet and he can’t hit.

  140. terpbomber October 18th, 2009 at 1:04 am

Cano needs to atone with his bat somewhere, somehow.

  141. ed - 2009 will be the year of the Yanks October 18th, 2009 at 1:05 am

    PLEASE END THIS ALREADY!!!!

  142. Boston Dave October 18th, 2009 at 1:05 am

    lets get this done!!

    yeah JHJr!!

  143. BigSix October 18th, 2009 at 1:05 am

    Jeff –

Man, that’s tough…I think we wrap it all the way around to Damon again, and he wins it.

  144. djsunyc October 18th, 2009 at 1:05 am

you have to bunt him over here…

  145. Rob in Vt. October 18th, 2009 at 1:05 am

  152. Betsy October 18th, 2009 at 1:05 am

I mean, what happens if Gaudin slips and gets hurt. There is no one to bring in for him ………….even managers in All-Star games manage better than this. They always leave one guy in the pen just in case.

  153. Imback October 18th, 2009 at 1:05 am

So Betsy can’t take it when someone counters her negative posts with their own? Needs a man to defend her? Who is the chauvinist now?

Pitching to Melky over Cano was stupid, even though Melky didn’t exactly get a hit. I guess Scoiscia figured that Tex was due over Arod earlier. Now he figured that Cano was due also. He was playing the percentages I guess.

I think they should make a “Angels in the Outfield 2″ movie and this time it should be based on the 2009 New York Yankees.

  276. CB October 18th, 2009 at 1:16 am

Give a lot of credit to Dave Robertson. He picked up Cano and the entire team with his pitching in the top of the inning. After Cano’s mistake the angels didn’t square anything up. Just a tremendous job.

In the past the yankees have struggled to find players on the bench. Because the team is so deep it’s been hard to get good players on the bench because they’re just not going to play much.

Hairston was terrific this year in that role and pays off big returns here.

And what can you say about Alex. Just unbelievable.

The yankees right now have hands down the best starting pitcher and position player of any team still playing baseball. And that is in addition to of course having the best relief pitcher.

100 pitches of fun, I think Scioscia went by the numbers and Cano had two hrs off of Santana and Melky none. I doubt anyone in NY would have done the same thing. That’s why it pays to have good scouts.

Great job by D-Rob – he’s truly grown up this year. What a find they have in him…….he may take over the 8th next year.

I love Jerry Hairston, Jr – what a terrific pickup. Very underrated signing by Cash – along with Hinske.

Man, the Angels…….but I wonder if we should give these guys a break. They played in just miserable conditions.

I still cant get over ARod’s HR in the 9th.

I mean… could he be having a better, more clutch, post season??

  303. YankeeRay October 18th, 2009 at 1:22 am

Isturis is a moron. If he gets the runner at second then Melky steals second anyway and it’s still second and third.

I swear I saw Melky tell the dugout to go get some pie ready when they started walking Cano.

    What a game.

Ch 7 sucks for breaking away on sattelite and I didn’t see the pie.

Definitely the quote of the night goes to pie goes to the runner.

When this game began, I got in my car in Ringwood, NJ.

Throughout the game, I drove (mostly in the rain) to a friend’s house in McLean VA.

I listened to John and Susan on WCBS all the way. The signal had weak moments, but I heard them all the way to Virginia, where I watched the end of the game.

What an amazing Yankees experience, especially because we won!

  305. Boston Dave - 6 wins to go October 18th, 2009 at 1:22 am

    The Ghost,

it seems like that still got overlooked. It’s practically an error in of itself….

  306. Betsy October 18th, 2009 at 1:22 am

Wow, MLB giving credit to the umps for making that call at 2nd where Aybar didn’t touch it. They said what CB said – the kid learned a lesson

  307. Rishi October 18th, 2009 at 1:22 am

some of these international reporters are really funny to listen to

  308. CB October 18th, 2009 at 1:22 am

“did anyone mention that if figgins actually picks the ball up there would have been a play at the plate?”

    BD,

Absolutely. I saw that as well. Hairston slowed down rounding third to pick up the play and then had to accelerate.

Figgins just picked up the ball and dropped it. If he at least picks it up clean the play at the plate would have been close.

There were two mistakes by the angels on that play – they weren’t equal but Figgins didn’t help in any way.

Hopefully the Yanks bats wake up in the hot weather. I think that they will.

  312. Abdababdaserser October 18th, 2009 at 1:23 am

Now how can I get to sleep tonight after that (fortunately) incredible win? I am so jacked up from watching it come so close all those innings only to fold, and then watch the Angels do it too.

Wow. What a battle. That has to be a very tough one to lose for the Angels.

Boston Dave, Alex is carrying this team on his shoulders. I don’t ever want to hear anyone, fan or mediot alike, say anything anymore about this guy.

  316. Trevor October 18th, 2009 at 1:24 am

Being up 2-0 is big. With the next 3 in Anaheim, just win 1 game (2 of course would win it) they just have to win 1 game come back up 3-2. And I can see them doing it.

  317. Dr Mustard October 18th, 2009 at 1:24 am

Cano needs to stop being a muppet…and play ball

What a outstanding pen we have

Mystique and Aura have entered the building.

  319. The Ghost October 18th, 2009 at 1:25 am

Boston Dave, yes I agree, that’s the second error of ommission that Figgins has made in this series.

  320. Boston Dave - 6 wins to go October 18th, 2009 at 1:25 am

    Betsy,

    I agree.

He really is carrying them on his back offensively.

Their pitching has been RIDICULOUS too!!

  321. HeavyHitter October 18th, 2009 at 1:26 am

I’m glad the ump’s call on Aybar did not decide the game, although it was the correct call. Now everyone’s on notice.

  322. 27 October 18th, 2009 at 1:28 am

What would we do with out Arod? I just hope he can stay hot…

He’s definitely taking the pressure off of Tex.

A-Rod was overwhelmed by New York. Now he isn’t. Enjoy.

  325. HeavyHitter October 18th, 2009 at 1:34 am

Girardi pushed all the right buttons. I think it’s time to give him some props.

  326. Abdababdaserser October 18th, 2009 at 1:34 am

I know Cano had a bad game, but looking at those plays and the Angels error that cost the game, you know the conditions out there were pretty poor.

Its cold and raining. Think about how stiff you get in that weather. It is really tough. Its not meant as an excuse, but it seems there is some reason for the problems he had.

Alex is just incredible with how well he is playing in this post season. Just think if Teixeira gets going along with him.

More frustrating was seeing all the grounding into double plays.

AJ was good except for that one inning, and yet he still held it together. I was impressed that he didn’t blow out.

  327. Abdababdaserser October 18th, 2009 at 1:35 am

BTW, how can anyone put a hat on as ugly as Kay’s is and think “yeah, I look fine with this on”?

Yes, but some of that was tight run. Fortunately Santana was pretty poor, too bad he isn’t starting in one of these games. The pen was down to Gaudin, which isn’t very comforting.

I had a feeling, judging by how both sides were doing a poor job on offense that this could go late. I was concerned that he didn’t use some of the relievers a little longer.

It still came down to winning on an error.

  329. haiku-man October 18th, 2009 at 1:43 am

=Yankees are still the only undefeated team in postseason.

-AJ’s implosion in the 5th was the cause of this marathan game.

-Joba and Phil combined faced 5 batters, before Joe rusheD to MO.

-Ace has been on the shelf too long for the pressure Joe put on him tonight, and Gaudin hasn’t pitched yet this postseason.

-John Flaherty you gave the slight edge to Saunders,YOU WERE WRONG,never bet against the best team in baseball at home!!

-2 of the host on fox pregame picked the ANGELS TO WIN,they also have egg on their faces too!

-This isn’t the 2002,or 2005 Yankees,Wake up prognosticators of the blog.

  330. Abdababdaserser October 18th, 2009 at 1:48 am

Actually, Saunders and AJ ended their games with the same results, Saunders went deeper, so John Flahtery’s slight edge seems about right. Very slight, and only by length.

He never did the evaluation with Santana in the equation.

That said, you are right that you shouldn’t pick against the Yankees.
