Jay

I'm Jewish as well. Where is the anti-semitism here? Some guy makes a crack about a klan meeting, tongue in cheek? Just ignore it.

Rusty John

The joke was stupid, but I agree with the Yankees zero tolerance policy here. Why make Tynan the subject of the news, when it should be about the Yankees?

On another note, why not name some Red Sox in your list of steroid users? Plus, Steinbrenner owns the team.

You serious, Jay? One guy points out that (he thinks) it's ridiculous that an ill-advised and unfunny comment gets one man banished by the team but breaking laws and the rules of baseball does not. Another guy pretends to be Pat Buchanan and makes fun of Buchanan *for being* anti-semitic. So exactly which anti-semitic comments on this thread should be filtered?

Jeez! I mean, I get the Yankees axing Tynan. He made a controversial comment that could offend a significant portion of the Yankee fan base, and he's definitely not a necessary part of the organization. I also get people being very sensitive about such comments. Though Tynan is powerless and cannot 'cause any real harm to anyone, the attitude of too many people regarding antisemitism is way too cavalier. But let's keep things in perspective, here. No one's saying Tynan is not a jerk. And, as far as I've seen, no comments here have been anti-semitic, aside from those attributed to "Pat Buchanan," who that commenter is obviously ridiculing for antisemitism.

Put away the big stick, Jay. It's fine to register your displeasure with comments you find objectionable. But tossing around empty threats about shutting down the blog (through the courts, no less) just makes you look silly.

And please, everyone, enough of the Tynan story. He did something stupid, he got banned. The end. Let's stick with baseball.

Go Yankees!

So I just had to jump on a risky opportunity because I might not get it again if the situation becomes official..but i talked to a guy who knew a guy and got myself 2 tickets for WS game 5 at citizens bank park...120 a piece, decent seats. Now i'm just praying the Yankees and Phillies don't collapse...and that at least the Phils get in so I can still sell the tix If the Yanks don't make it. Anyway if it works out maybe I can see the Yanks clinch, if the Phillies fans don't kill me first!

I don't care what happens to Ronan Tynan but agree with Justin that this patriotism masquerade has run its course.

Besides Tynan's album version of God Bless America lasts longer than game two did!

I'm not a big fan of "post-season" records because it is so blatantly skewed in favor of the wild card era players. Still, someone has to have the most post-season wins so it might as well be Pettite.

Andy needs some good run support and he'll give 6-7 quality innings. Ignore the rally monkeys in the crowd. There's a lot of Yankee fans in So. California.
