Tonight is the night guys! Let's hope our Yanks can take a step in the right direction behind our crafty vet Andy. Tex got a big hit in the last game, let's hope he can keep it going and Alex can continue to be Mr. October 2.0. One more win from bringing the pennant back to New York, God bless the Yankees!

I don't see how u can blame Joe for the last loss. Sure he made a mistake bringing out AJ for the 7th- everyone knows in a game like that u milk a starter for as long as you can as long as he's throwing zeros, and then you let the bullpen finish it off when u get that lead late.

But bottom line Marte did well by getting two outs and keeping the lead. Phil Hughes could not get ONE out... not only did he tie the game on a ridiculous 1-2 pitch, he couldn't even preserve the tie, completely missing his spots against Morales as well. Phil was lockdown all season- u can't blame Joe for going to him again there, despite his struggles against the Twins. Maybe from now on you go to Robertson in the 8th- Phil seems to be wilting under the playoff pressure. Anyhow, the team was set up to win if our bullpen had pitched up to its capabilities. It didn't, outside of Mo. Maybe the Yankees win if Joe goes to a reliever to start the 7th- maybe they don't. But Phil Hughes has got to come through there. You can probably argue that if Phil had just kept the game tied, the Yanks would've won. But he couldn't even do that. That's not Joe's fault- but maybe next time it would be if Phil blows another 8th inning.

If the Yankees close it out tomorrow night I will rent out a bar and have everyone on LoHud drink all night for free.

Including you, God. That is, if you keep this rain from a-fallin',

Well at least the Angels beat the Yankees in the next inning. When the Yanks lost to the Sox in Games 4 and 5 it was at the very end of the game when they were on the verge of winning it. Extra inning defeats back to back killed the 2004 Yankees spirit, and with the lack of pitching in Game 6 and Game 7 it was all over. This series doesn't have the same feel as 2004. More character, heart, and better pitching.

In the AFL on Friday, Brandon Laird was 3-5 with a double, homer, 5 RBI, 3 Runs scored and 1 strikeout. He played 1st base without an error. Colin Curtis was 3-4 with a double, 2 runs scored and 1 RBI and 1 walk. Grant Duff pitched a perfect 9th inning for the save. Austin Romine or none of the other pitchers played.

Dr. Cox October 24th, 2009 at 2:54 am

Pat M.

I agree. 2004 shook me to me core. I didnt leave my bed for 3 days, (I was a sophomore in college, it was acceptable) I was legitimately depressed.

And now after being 9 outs away, this is all I can think about.

LOL
