Ok guys, the pictures from the celebration are up on my blog. I have some from the actual game but ill add those later
If you guys do check it out, I have a question for you. If you go to the very end, I have 2 photos of a mystery player that climbed on top of the Yankee dugout like 15 minutes after the players went back into the clubhouse. He shook the fans hands and was dancing around on top of it..
They walked Cano twice in Game 6. Twice! A guy who doesn’t walk. Never met a pitch he didn’t try to hit. Walked. Twice. And scored. This is a tough Yankees team.
————————————————————
His entire approach changed after Game #1. He drew 4 walks in the next 5 games. It makes you wonder if somebody talked to him. We’ll find out during the WS, though, he’ll be seeing a lot of left handers.
Looking back at previous posts–postseason is about pitching, and starting pitching especially. Why feel the need to go on and on about hitting in late innings, hitting with men on base, etc?
Give credit to the other guys–the pitchers are executing under pressure. It’s a lot easier to get the ball over the plate where you want it than to hit it where you want it–we tend to lose sight of this.
3-4 runs usually will do it. The rest is overkill. Look at the Yankee wins in this postseason. Only once did the other team score more than 4 runs, and that was because of a meltdown in the first inning of game 5. You don’t like to win games 8-6 or 10-9 (you’ll take them, of course), but that’s not how the modern post-season game is played.
As long as the Yankees can score 3-4 runs per game in the WS, and they are within 1-2 runs of the Phils in the 6th or later, I like their chances.

Can you figure out who it is?
I am thinkin either Swisher or Burnett…
================================================
That’s not swish or burnett — too much hair. Swish just got a Mohawk and that guy has a full head of hair.
Christina it doesn’t hurt to send an email to the Yankees voice a little displeasure at your obstructed view seat. It really isn’t there fault since it was likely a fox camera, and there probably isn’t one there during the season. You never know what they will do for you.

GB, A few weeks ago we both tabbed Robbie Cano to be a player to come up big…..The brightest spot light is a few days away…..
————————————————————
Like Rodriguez, Cano has just too much talent to continue having bad post seasons. Something clicked because he hit .317 in the last 5 games.
Even Swisher had some good at bats, and his defense was not so spectacular as it was heads up. The throw to get Guerrero on the DP and the decision to conced the 8th inning run and keep the runner on first from advancing. Earlier in the season, he’d have just let it fly.
Cabrera was another that really cranked it up. That’s three very important hitters that need to keep it going.
jennifer, I want to voice my displeasure somewhere, if anything to spare other people from this nonsense. Not really sure where I can go though. If anyone has an idea, let me know.

Doen’t Hal Steinbrenner have a public e-mail address. Thought I saw one for him on here? He’s sounding more and more like his dad every day. I think that he’s getting to enjoy being the public voice of the Yankees. He’s been very chatty in the last two months.
When I first looked at the World Series schedule, I thought the Yankees would go with a 4 man rotation. Now, I think the 3-man rotation makes more sense.
1, CC completely dominated on 3 days rest in the first round. He’s only given up 1 ER in each game that he’s started and gave the Angels no chance to win either game in the ALCS. He’s also going to be on 7 days rest going into game 1. I don’t think anyone will argue against him pitching in games 1, 4, or 7.
The choice is: Gaudin and AJ on normal rest, or AJ and Andy on short rest.
2, Gaudin hasn’t started a game since September 28th. Game 5 is on November 2nd. He has pitched 2 and a third innings since September 28th and he would be pitching against the best offense he’s ever faced.
4, Pettitte hasn’t pitch on 3 days rest since 2006, which is definitely something to think about. At the same time, he has said he feels great and he recently said he would feel more comfortable pitching on short rest than after sitting for a week. Pettitte has gone 6 and a third in all 3 starts so far giving up 2 runs twice and 3 runs once.
I say, go with the guys that got you here. Starting Pettitte just once in the World Series doesn’t make sense to me.
As far as Hughes goes…After the Yanks won YES did an interview with him they asked him about he and Joba struggling in the post season. I forgot his exact answer but he said that it’s late in the season and his arm might be tired. I found it odd at the time that Girardi went to Joba instead of him but maybe he was hoping to get him a couple of days off.
Can’t wait until Wednesday. . . Now if only the weather cooperates! (who thought it was a good idea to wait until almost November to start the World Series . . .)
PEDRO injured, hit in shin by a ball in simulated game, extent of injury unknown,or if it affects his chances as Gm 2 starter has yet to be determined. More coming as released.
They should use 3 starters. I think AJ can handle it since he did it 3 times last season. If Andy gets into trouble then they can bring in Gaudin. I am sure he can give them 2 innings, a 3rd might be pushing it.
My guess is they cut out the old grass and lay down some new sod, then paint it. If you look closely at the picture, you can see the sod lines I think.
“free mike vick–that can’t seriously be your screen name…?”
Don’t really see the problem with that name. Mike Vick was unfairly used as an example just because he was a highly talented athlete. If it was someone else they wouldn’t make that big of a deal
Even though the man completed his sentence (albeit a highly unfair one) people are still trying to keep him from playing in the NFL, leave the poor man alone. He is still trapped by his past and I see no reason why this is so.
While people like Roman Polanski are forgiven for the rape of a underage girl, we are too busy protesting against a man who practiced what is to many considered a sport (yes just like baseball to us). Also the same people who seem to be quick to protest against him are the same ones who preach understanding of other cultures, so much for that one huh?
This is all coming from a Giants fan who never cared for Vick until all this crap.
No need for 3 starters. Yes CC should go in 1, 4 and potentially 7 on short rest. Otherwise you pitch AJ on normal rest in games 2 and 6. Andy in game 3, Gaudin in game 5. Also Andy could be ready for game 7 as a backup to CC. Beats the days of Kevin Brown, Javier Vasquez or even Chien Ming Wang.
Also Gaudin can be limited in game 5 and the bullpen can be emptied with an off day after the game. No point in pushing AJ and Andy on short rest, it is just asking for problems.
Roman Polanski has not been “forgiven”, at least not universally, for raping a teenage girl. The US recently made a formal request for his extradition, and there are many people who would like to see Polanski rot in jail.

First me being one of them, but you don’t see people protesting at his movie premieres and outrage getting to the point that people don’t want to work with him. Vick got exactly that. The French don’t consider it that big a deal since hes celebrity.
My point is that why do people care more about dogs then they do people? Maybe its time to get our priorities straight. Of course maybe its just that the French suck, and PETA members are idiots. That works as well.

Hey I never said I’m a Vick fan and as I Giants fan I am automatically against anyone on the Eagles, just saying he didn’t deserve all he got.
, “we are too busy protesting against a man who practiced what is to many considered a sport (yes just like baseball to us). Also the same people who seem to be quick to protest against him are the same ones who preach understanding of other cultures, so much for that one huh?”
Dog fighting is a sport like baseball. Amos you are wrong on so many levels. Just go away.
Well dogfighting is older then baseball and has been around for ages. Maybe you should learn history a little before you say something. Besides what more does Vick deserve? He already lost 2 years of his life, went bankrupt, and who knows if hell ever amount to a great QB ever again. I don’t see what else needs to be taken away for the guy.
sorry it took me so long to respond. and big ups to Amos Moses who hit the nail on the head.
i feel as though Mike was unfairly treated…he served his time…and the fact that he had to basically beg for a shot in the NFL because teams didn’t want him because of PR issues was absolutely absurd to me.
What mike did was horrid. but the man served his time…admitted his mistake…and that should have been the end of it.
no one seems to have a problem with other athletes and famous personalities going out, lying in the weeds waiting for a deer to come out from behind a tree..and then putting a bullet in the side of its head…but mike had to get on his hands and knees and beg for a job.
It’s a joke the way mike vick was…and continues to be treated. A JOKE!
Not saying that I personally endorse it, I have two hunting dogs of my own, that I care about.
Just think that the whole thing was Way overblown. My point that it is older then baseball doesnt mean that I approve of it, just saying that people have done this and have been caught for this before. They did not suffer as much as Vick has, which was my point from the beginning, that he was used as an example quite unfairly. Much like Plaxico has been.
So for the for all the people up there quick to judge (Cheap Seats) maybe you should read the whole post first and not just the bit that fits your argument.
alright, dogfighting isnt okay but is that a reason to keep vick from the one thing he can do? what’s he gonna do besides play football? what else can he do? clean toilets? work at mcdonalds? the man is already so far in debt that he needs the football money (and it isnt even that much) to get himself out of it.
his life has mostly been destroyed already, now you want to keep him away from the one and only thing he can do professionally?
and listen if hunting is your thing…fine..whatever. I don’t really care.
but this double standard that the NFL has is beyond laughable.
I mean i saw Jared Allen doing interviews in a furry hat back in training camp, so a reporter jokingly asks, “hey jared…where did you get the hat”…he respond back with, “shot it myself.” If you don’t know Jared Allen is an avid hunter.
and don’t get me started on dante stallworth and ray lewis..and the pac man.
I find it almost laughable how E.K….Eric Karros, and Mark Grace thought the Angels would win this game last night. Mark Grace even went on to say that Andy had a losing record in game six’s of closing out series. Grace also went on to say how they tatooed Andy for 7 runs in three innings or so….so this meant obviously he would lose last nights game. I dont think Andy was tipping his pitches like he was back in 01 against the dbacks….did anyone else find that fox pregrame absurd?
not saying you are a monster, amos… not at all. i don’t care what the heck you do with your off time.
my beef is with the NFL and their two faced approach to the mike vick issue.
my point is…you got a guy (jared allen) that admits to killing an animal…even shows pics of said activity and he is praised with loads of money..and loved throughout the league.
and you have mike vick….who plain and simple. killed animals. and he can’t get anyone to give him a job in the NFL.
Between my last post and this one, I fell asleep. But when I woke up, I saw the post after mine saying the picture was not Swish – too much hair. So I went back before reading any other posts. I clicked on the pix and enlarged and, lo and behold, it became clear as mud that it was none other than Phil Coke. Then I came back here and realized there are about 4 posts or so after mine saying it was Phil Coke.

Cheap Seats: Bravo I can’t spell you got me there, I guess that nullifies my whole argument.
————————————————————
Your whole arguement null and void when you declare that you’re alright with dog fighting as a sport and when you starve the dogs and then torture and drown the losers. It’s no better than fitting razored spurs on roosters and watching them rip each others guts out while you bet on them. What sort of sick jerk considers this to be a sport?
Perhaps Vick couldn’t get a job in the NFL because it would cost the owners money in lost revenue, and, to begin with, he isn’t any more of an NFL quarterback Marlin Brisoe was. He was one of the worst during his days in Atlanta. He was a dog (to use a fitting term).
First off Cheap Seats, I was being sarcastic just joking around. Secondly I never meant for this thing to get all personal, sorry if I came out that way.
Lastly “Free Mike Vick” I hope your not turning this into a race thing. Whether or not you and I agree with it, Dogfighting is a crime, hunting is not. Thats not the NFL’s double standard, its society’s.
Whether or not you and I consider it a sport has nothing to do with it. Many people do consider it a sport, thats the important thing. That he did what he likely considered a sport. Its kinda like boxing or Ultimate Fighting. People also pay to see really extreme fighting, in which some people fight to the death. I am not saying I approve, but to them it is a sport.

“when you starve the dogs and then torture and drown the losers”
Hideous. I had no idea.
————————————————————
It was a lot worse. It didn’t help that he had his “posse” hanging around and sponging off of him. One of the NFL’s biggest complaints was that the gambling ring he ran and hanging around with organized crime and gambling figures. Crime was apparently very high in that area after he moved in. Haven’t seen the figures since the law shut him down and confiscated the property.

Is cheerleading a sport?
————————————————————
I suppose that would depend on whether the cheerleaders have forgotten any part of their uniform or not. For some dirty old men, it could be a spectator sport. You’d have to ask Randy and PAT M. about that.
Race is what it is. i won’t say it had nothing to do with the vick issue. and i sure as heck won’t say it WAS the issue.
again…i don’t judge you, amos. I’m only making the hunting analogy because there are animals involved. the common denominator is animals. Whether this or that is right…or this or that is sport. i won’t go there..I’m not trying to start a lifestyle war here.
I am not going to get into all the weak arguments that defend Vick, because I will be here all night if I do and probably sick to my stomach at the end of it knowing people actually support that disgrace for a human being. I will say a couple things though, b/c the logic supporting Vick is pretty elementary.
First off you can not compare hunting to torturing dogs. Dogs have been domesticated animals for thousands of years and just like humans they have a much different role in society than wild animals. There is a clear pecking order in our society. We, humans are the most domesticated animals and therefore at the top of the pecking order. Animals like dogs and cats are next, because they are domesticated as well. And finally there is wild animals, like deer. Just like humans, dogs and cats have a greater right to life than a wild deer.
Next, our laws are largely formulated based on utilitarian principles and their benefit to society. There is a clear benefit conferred from killing a wild animal. There is absolutely no benefit from killing and torturing a domesticated animal.
PETA’s principles that ALL animals are equal do not speak for everyone. Actually, most people in society probably follow the pecking order I describe. These are the reasons why hunting is largely different than what Vick did and why hunting is not morally blameworthy esp. in comparison to the killing of a dog.
It’s amazing that these media types continue to talk about the Yankees “core players” being Jeter, Pettitte, Rivera and Posada, then, ignore the fact that Cano and Rodriguez are part of that core group, whether they are from the “Dynasty Teams”, but, Martinez and O’Neill were. Sabathia and Burnett will be. Time will tell about whether Cabrera, Hughes, Chamberlain, etc. will be or not.

Same old Cash, geez. The Yankees are the best team in baseball; it’s one thing to respect the opposition (and I think the Phillies are very, very close to the Yankees and could easily win the series), but it’s another to credit them over you’re own team. He does this all the time
Keys to the WS for both teams.
Phillies:
1.) Cliff Lee must win his games because the other starters are shaky.
2.) Carlos Ruiz must keep the Yankees from running wild.
3.) solid defense with 0 mistakes.
4.) due to good hitters there will be men on base.. can they get them in with RISP.
If they do all this they got “a shot”
Yankees:
1.) baserunners going 1st to 3rd & getting any free bases is a must.
2.) marte/coke must come up big vs. all the big lefty bats in key spots.
3.) can arod do it again?
4.) taking advantage of down the middle changeups & hanging curves by lee & hamels is a must.

DD does not qualify as a bagel. Its a roll with a giant hole in the middle.
Brueggers were my fave in Albany, but it is still not a NY bagel. There was a coffe house near UAlbany on Western Avenue called “Uncommon Grounds” I remember liking their bagels too for some reason
I also just wanted to mention the issue you Vick supporters have with his “different treatment.” Of course he was treated differently in society than lets say Joe Schmo. Vick is a public figure and with that comes the good and the bad associated with it.
When someone like Vick contributes to a charity or goes to a charity event it is all over the news. When Joe Schmo does this it is not publicized. On the same token, when someone like Vick commits a crime it is all over the news. With Joe Schmo it is not. There is nothing unfair about this. If Vick wants all the benefits of being a public figure he also has to accept all the public scrutiny.
However, to say that the law treated him differently is a completely baseless claim. Are you aware of similar cases in the jurisdiction he was tried in? Do you know the statues? Do you know the standard punishments? No you probably do not. In the court of law Vick was treated no different than any other offender of a similar crime. The same thing with Plaxico. He committed a crime in a state with the strictest punishment for this crime in the country. He was blasted in the media and rightfully so, but he was treated no different than Joe Schmo in the court.
Also, the NFL has every right to treat Vick different. The NFL is similar to a co-op apartment building in Manhattan. They accept and deny people based on maximizing their profits and keeping a certain image and they have every right to do so. The NFL was not going to allow Rush Limbaugh to own in part the Rams and the NFL decided not to reinstate Vick. They have every right to do this on a completely arbitrary basis. Vick does not have a “right” to be a part of the organization that is the NFL.
I couldn’t find the bleacher report slamming Karros and Grace, but thanks for the link. I read an interesting perspective on Kobe’s privileged childhood. Thanks for the link, now I feel all nice and marshmallowy.

I doubt that Cashman believes that Philadelphia is a better team than the Yanks, but, they are pretty even across the board. No sense in putting something in the papers that would make good bulletin board stuff. That sort of thing may not mean a lot to most of the players, but, it could spur a few on. Personally, I’d prefer that they don’t say anything.
He was blasted in the media and rightfully so, but he was treated no different than Joe Schmo in the court.
********
well…actually vick was able to get a somewhat favorable sentence thanks to lawyers that joe schmo could never pay for. So technically he was treated differently.
The nicknames for the core group don’t bug me. They’re just as humble and gracious as ever. They don’t lord over or intimidate anyone. Any reference to them as a group is strictly honorary and an honor.
The truth of the matter is that they are the cornerstones of this team, both on and off the team. Everything is built upon them and it’s just amazing to see them playing like they’re still in their prime years.
To be having career years like Jeter and Mariano is simply amazing. Just wait until Jeter’s contract year. He might just take off!
I am fading fast here folks. If the fact that I just spent like 6 posts telling Nick what to eat for dinner isn’t a sign of major sleep deprevation, I don’t know what is.

Erica, on this “Core Four” thing…I’m curious now. I really hadn’t given it any real consideration, but I wonder if it did come from Zillo (master marketer). Kim did an interview with the “Old Guard”, just before the ALDS I think? In the interview she called them OG and one of the guys didn’t like it (Jeter I think, he usually doesn’t like to talk about getting older). They didn’t make a big deal out of it, and they (YES crew) have continued to call them the OG.

Uh, false. Were the Rays the best team in the AL East until they were eliminated from competing for the division? Absolutely not. They were the reigning champions, and that’s it.
We all know the Yankees are the best team in baseball, and they have been since the All-Star Break in particular. Whether or not they win the World Series decides if they are World Series champions, though, and that’s what matters. You’re right; right now, the Phillies are reigning World Series champions. However, that does not make them the best team by any stretch.
The following are quotes from Cashman and I can’t disagree with them. Actually, you can only win the title of the best team on the field of play and not on paper or on any baseball blogs.
“We’re close to really being able to close the circle and hopefully find a way to do so.”
To close the circle, of course, Cashman’s team will have to fend off the Phillies.
“They’re the defending champs,” Cashman said. “To be the best, you have to beat the best, and they’re the best. We’re hoping to try to find a way to get ourselves fitted for our rings.”
“Uh, false. Were the Rays the best team in the AL East until they were eliminated from competing for the division? Absolutely not. They were the reigning champions, and that’s it.

Cajuncook,
Your logic doesn’t make any sense because the defending WS champs are here in the title series against the Yankees. You think the Yankees are the best team that’s fine and dandy because I think the Yankees are too, but the only way to prove that without anybody questioning that assertion is for the Yankees to win four more games against the Phillies in the next ten days. Talking about being the best doesn’t get it done, you have to earn it on the field of play.

I must admit i’m relishing seeing the first joba fist pump of the world series.
Can you figure out who it is?
I am thinkin either Swisher or Burnett…
I’d like to know how they remove the previous logo.
For the record in the post season of Alex Rodriguez’ coming out party:
Combined numbers:
AB – 32
R – 10
H – 14
TB – 31
2B – 2
3B – 0
HR – 5
RBI – 12
W – 9
SO – 5
BA – .438
SGL – .969
OBP – .548
OBPS – 1.517
Runs Produced – 16 or 49% of Yankee Runs
If he comes anywhere close to that, he’ll challenge Bonds and Beltran’s numbers since the 3 tier post season started.

With a very large eraser.
A beautiful sight.
Christina -
Looks like Swish (or maybe Bruney) to me. The hat, the posture, the height, points to Swish.
What a time you must have had, seat notwithstanding!

Yes. Robi was very patient this time around.

sorry for the delayed question, but …
Did anyone ever ask Girardi why he used Joba rather than Hughes in the 7th if he planned to have Mo throw 2 innings?
Obviously, it worked out, but I’m curious. The predictable pattern would have been Hughes pre-Mo.

Yep, That’s Phil Coke.
He was spraying champagne everywhere…
Christina it doesn’t hurt to send an email to the Yankees voice a little displeasure at your obstructed view seat. It really isn’t there fault since it was likely a fox camera, and there probably isn’t one there during the season. You never know what they will do for you.

3, AJ Burnett pitched 3 games on short rest last season and was great. Here’s a link to his numbers: http://www.baseball-reference......038;t=p#dr
Painting the World Series logo on your team’s home field. That seems to be a good sign.
—————————————————————–
Shredding paper and watching the cops close down Broadway is a better one.
Ohh..looky looky. Yankees will win in 6. I picked them to beat the angels in 6.
In a word: priceless!

Sorry, that 1 run twice for Pettitte and 3 runs once.
Beautiful!
So, how do they remove the old sign from the grass?
I would assume that the paint is water based, and they trim the grass a little shorter and then spray paint over the old logos with green paint.
It’s going to be a fun one my friends
Haiku-man
So Pedro Martinez was hit in the shin by a baseball, huh? Wonder if they’ll let him start anyway.
Damon
They don’t know yet.Pitchers need leg strength as you know.
In the AFL, Colin Curtis is 1-1 and Brandon Laird was HBP in his first at bat.
Austin Romine isn’t playing tonight. Curtis is playing left field and Laird is playing first base.
A World Series in the first year at the new stadium.
Priceless
Only thing better will be a world series win.
Vick has already seen action tonight, so he’s pretty free.
But not as free as DeSean Jackson.
Hey I never said I’m a Vick fan and as I Giants fan I am automatically against anyone on the Eagles, just saying he didn’t deserve all he got.
The Pedro story sounds like a stretch for news –
Philadelphia Inquirer – Phillies pitcher Pedro Martinez took a ball off the bat of Pedro Feliz during a simulated game on Sunday.
Martinez was fine and continued pitching without any noticeable problems. He threw two innings, facing 12 batters and throwing 50 pitches.
Christina, I sent you a message through facebook. Green is right there was an email address posted on here. I emailed you with what I thought it was.
ah the Phillies took the train. Imagine walking through Penn and running into them!
Pedro-on-Pedro violence?
That’s not good for baseball.
Pedro will be sore tomorrow, those balls hurt.Yankees don’t fear Pedro, not for nothin!!
Roman Polanski has not been “forgiven”, at least not universally, for raping a teenage girl. The US recently made a formal request for his extradition, and there are many people who would like to see Polanski rot in jail.
It’s about time someone got Pedro for a change!!

I thought I detected a whiff of talk radio demagoguery in your first post. Right again!
I thought I detected a whiff of talk radio demagoguery in your first post. Right again!
Don’t listen to talk radio sorry, unless you count the Yankee Game on 880.
Nick – you can’t fool me. I recognize that peerless peer from under the cap. That’s no dog – that’s Andy Pettitte!
4 man rotation, unless they somehow fall behind 1-2….
sorry it took me so long to respond. and big ups to Amos Moses who hit the nail on the head.
i feel as though Mike was unfairly treated…he served his time…and the fact that he had to basically beg for a shot in the NFL because teams didn’t want him because of PR issues was absolutely absurd to me.
A JOKE!
Ah, I see how it is Phil Coke on the dugout. Though I could see Swisher doing something like that too.
Anyone think shelley duncan will make the roster?
Very good, DT, that is a little Pettittesque. I’m not sure where Andy stands on the dog/Vick issue, but I suspect he’s Always Humane.
Sunday – Giants bet the Eagles and Yankees Sweep the Phillies!!!!!!!!!!!!
then and ESPN tell John Kruk to get lost!
What a day!
“Well dogfighting is older then baseball and has been around for ages.”
Wow, Amos what a convincing argument. Are you a lawyer?
“Well dogfighting is older then baseball and has been around for ages.”

so has murder and rape. doesn’t make it right.
I agree that Vick served his time and has every right (in fact he should be encouraged) to earn a living but dog fighting isn’t ok in any context.

Amos Moses: I did read the whole post first.
alright, dogfighting isnt okay but is that a reason to keep vick from the one thing he can do? what’s he gonna do besides play football? what else can he do? clean toilets? work at mcdonalds? the man is already so far in debt that he needs the football money (and it isnt even that much) to get himself out of it.
his life has mostly been destroyed already, now you want to keep him away from the one and only thing he can do professionally?
get real
Cheap Seats: Your not a very good reader then.
and listen if hunting is your thing…fine..whatever.
Thank you, Cheap Seats.
Hey hunting is hunting, deer meat is quite tasty and I don’t kill animals unless I plan on eating them. I’m a hunter not a monster.

Mark Grace admitted to sleeping with unattractive women to make him hit the ball better, what?
A very good read,he takes them to task, for downing the Yankees.
Cheap Seats: Bravo I can’t spell you got me there, I guess that nullifies my whole argument.
Amos Moses: I was joking. Don’t be such a drama queen.
I didn’t follow the Vick scandal very closely but do think his sentence was draconian. Happy?

45 hours and 10 minutes until Game 1!!!!!!!!!!
Boy oh boy,bleacherreport.com does hammer Karros and Grace!
Thank you Erica for trying to get these comments back on track. How did such a happy post turn into a debate of animal cruelty?

Whether or not you and I consider it a sport has nothing to do with it. Many people do consider it a sport, thats the important thing. That he did what he likely considered a sport. Its kinda like boxing or Ultimate Fighting. People also pay to see really extreme fighting, in which some people fight to the death. I am not saying I approve, but to them it is a sport.

I consider commenting on LoHud a sport.

————————————————————
I suppose that would depend on whether the cheerleaders have forgotten any part of their uniform or not. For some dirty old men, it could be a spectator sport. You’d have to ask Randy and PAT M. about that.
i’m not trying to turn this into anything…
Race is what it is. i won’t say it had nothing to do with the vick issue. and i sure as heck won’t say it WAS the issue.
again…i don’t judge you, amos. I’m only making the hunting analogy because there are animals involved. the common denominator is animals. Whether this or that is right…or this or that is sport. i won’t go there..I’m not trying to start a lifestyle war here.

Your’re welcomed,but Haiku-man gave the link above.
As you can see this was just more Yankee hate exposed.
Buddy, that looks pretty good. I was thinking burrito tonight after MNF, now I’m thinking pizza.
Lets go Yankees
I agree with you completely.
As for everyone else namely:
Free Mike Vick, Cheap Seats, Green Beret
Lets just put this topic to rest.

Hey GB, I married a UCLA Cheerleader, I upmost respect for all cheerleaders…..I secretly think the USC Cheerleaders are still the best, in all aspects……
I noticed yesterdya Kim Jones kept referring to the “Core Four” rather than the “Old Guard”. Did they complain that “Old Guard” made them sound old???
“Core four” sounds lame
Amazing that the one person that has the most posts (13) on a subject names everybody else and tells them to put it to rest. Jesus.
DT, thanks for the laugh.
I usually opt for carne asada, depending where I go. But I did have a chicken burrito at my local place on my most recent visit. Mmmmm, now I feel like that again.

Is that a Boston College graduate? I would have said USC, but, for an old geezer PaT M’s a pretty good guy.
Erica, I hadn’t thought of that. What I found odd – and kind of annoying – was that McCarver kept calling them the “core four” as if that’s how the Old Guard (
) has been referred to all year.

Can we compromise? I will allow the pizza, if you get meatballs on it. Thats my favorite topping

I noticed that too, that was what first triggered the “Core Four” title off in my head. For all we know this was a Jason Zillo press release
The new WS patches on the Yankees and Phillies caps looks way too big for my taste. The design is fine, but way too big.

At least McCarver didn’t call them “Four Cores”.

Heck, I might just get a big bowl of Pho.

Same old Cash, geez. The Yankees are the best team in baseball; it’s one thing to respect the opposition (and I think the Phillies are very, very close to the Yankees and could easily win the series), but it’s another to credit them over you’re own team. He does this all the time
Buddy, I’m still unsure about that typo in my name before… were you telling me to I-off???
I spent 4 years in college in Albany. The 150 mile difference might as well be 5,000 for the quality of bagels.

The names Core of Four, Old Guard Dynasty Yankees and Men with Rings all bug me.
This years team has moved away from living in the shadow of the 90′s teams but some people aren’t ready to move forward yet.
Maybe winning a WS this year will help that.

I doubt that Cashman believes that Philadelphia is a better team than the Yanks, but, they are pretty even across the board. No sense in putting something in the papers that would make good bulletin board stuff. That sort of thing may not mean a lot to most of the players, but, it could spur a few on. Personally, I’d prefer that they don’t say anything.
pat-
I am with you. Old Guard makes it sound like there are 4 men who rule the team. Core Four takes on that same definition
While I know those phrases are ultimately meant to be complimentary, to me they undermind the very foundation of a team.

well…actually vick was able to get a somewhat favorable sentence thanks to lawyers that joe schmo could never pay for. So technically he was treated differently.
“How about the Four Core-sman of the Yankeepocalypse????”
But could the Fox team pronounce “Yankeepocalypse”? I think not.
No way Nick, funny tho!
Good night Yankee people!!!!!

But, now you’ve got me thinking…

I don’t like that game 2 score, though.

Accuscore was perfect in the ALCS (not sure about the ALDS-maybe someone with insider can go back and check, I don’t feel like hacking the Minny previews.).
So, I’ll follow Accuscore, since they do it like it should be. One game at a time. (Yankees/Phillies-67/33 for game 1)

Betsy/Rocketbooster,
Until the Yankees beat the defending champions then the Phillies are the best team in baseball. Cashman knows what he’s doing with his comments and it’s up to the Yankees to prove his words false.
“Until the Yankees beat the defending champions then the Phillies are the best team in baseball. Cashman knows what he’s doing with his comments and it’s up to the Yankees to prove his words false.”
Betsy,
The following are quotes from Cashman and I can’t disagree with them.

Cajuncook,
Your logic doesn’t make any sense because the defending WS champs are here in the title series against the Yankees.
The interlocking NY flag flies proudly in front of my place.
it’s beautiful!
