I just want to point out how COLOSSAL game 1 is. Let's be honest. As Yanks fans we've come to expect a W from Sabathia. He has been lights out. The Phillies are the same with Cliff Lee. Game 1 sets such a HUGE TONE for this series. Think about if we lose game 1 at home with Sabathia.

It'd be 0-1 and it’s Burnett versus Pedro. Pedro is a total wildcard and has had some bad memories in the Bronx. However, Burnett got hit pretty hard against the Phillies earlier this season. Then we’d get Hamels in Game 3 versus Pettitte. Pettitte has been extremely good this postseason, but Hamels has a fantastic track record, even with a subpar 2009 by his standards.

This Phillies team is MUCH better offensively than either team we've faced in the playoffs and maybe better than any we could expect to face. Howard and Utley are tremendous. Werth had a great year, and they are deep.

I STILL say Yanks in 6 or 7 only because of Rivera compared to Lidge/Madson and the home field advantange...thank you Bud Selig and the rest of the AL! Also, check out some awesome Yankees Memorabilia from my client, Steiner Sports. It's some great stuff as we head back to the World Series.

It'll be fun to watch. I expect a great series.

The Phillies payroll was much greater than the Rays because the players were older and more established, not because they were brought in as free agents. Sorry, but you're going to hear about the payroll.

I now live in the suburbs of Philly, so I've obviously been hearing lots of comments. This morning a lot of them seemed to be related to the Yankee payroll. I pointed out to these Phanatics that their payroll was double that of the Rays last year so maybe they should return the trophy. Needless to say, they weren't very pleased with me.

I've seen and heard Erica's Shower DVD. It's boring. A closed door and the sound of water running is pretty much it. Of course in the background you can hear bits and pieces of cheering crowds as the Yankees rally in the playoffs.

I don't know whether I want Pedro to pitch at the stadium, so that he can be abused by the crowd, or on the road where we can throw at him when he hits?

Mitch Williams and Kruk are former Phillies. They are nothing but homers for the Phillies. So you know they are going to BS and kiss up to the Phillies.

Boston Dave - 4 wins til 27
October 26th, 2009 at 3:31 pm
GB7,

Oh I know. Though, I think they originally brought Polanco in to replace Rolen at 3rd base.

So theoretically it shouldn’t have been the sole reason for Utley remaining in the minors.

His minor league #s look pretty good so I still wonder why they couldn’t make an adjustment to bring up a top prospect before he was 25.

The Phillies had no shot at the division with the Braves in the way but i guess they weren’t too far from the wildcard back then.

I think that as much as anything, it was his defense. 28 is a lot of errors for a 2nd baseman with a FPct of .918.
