If Lee is starting Game 5, I wouldn't want to waste Burnett going against him. In other words, I think the Yanks' best strategy is to win all the games that Lee doesn't start.
That means CC in Game 4, Gaudin (and a bunch of relievers) in Game 5, Burnett in Game 6 and CC in Game 7.

BTW I'd consider starting either Coke or Marte in Game 5 to face the lefties at the beginning of the lineup. Then bring in Gaudin in the 2nd inning. After all, Gaudin isn't going to last more than 5 innings.

I think Joba stays in the pen next year.

you really have to be asleep at the wheel if you think the Yanks suffered through the Joba rules this year and all the criticism that came with it only to turn around and do a 180 because some fans and "experts" on blogs don't understand the natural development of a young starter....

next year the Yanks will turn Joba loose and expect 200 innings and i think he'll win 16+ games as the #4 starter
but trust me he ain't going to the pen!

Why is everybody always picking on Melky? He's been getting more than his share of hits!

Phils making a mistake? If I were Manuel, I'd go with Happ in Game 4. Blanton is 0-3, 8.18 vs. the Yanks in his career. Could work nicely for us Yankees fans.

The biggest question of whether to use AJ in Game 5 (with CC in Game 4) is this...who catches him? It would be easy to say Molina and maintain the status quo, but remember that the Yanks are losing the DH. Do you really want to lose the bats of Matsui AND Posada? Losing the DH and having a lineup with Melky 7, Molina 8 and AJ 9 in Game 5 could be a big problem.

The Philadelphia Enquirer is a two-bit newspaper that is a half-step up from the National Enquirer. Stupid city for stupid people.

They want to rewrite the lyrics to Empire State of Mind? Wow, that's the most creativity they can offer? No wonder they are 80 miles south of NYC.

This Phillies team is tough and scary. They would likely pummel Gaudin in the 'Band Box'. I want Joe to throw CC in Game 4 regardless of the outcome of Pettitte's start in Game 3. I'd like to see Burnett throw on short rest and Andy again on short rest. CC and AJ can do it and if Andy should hit a wall in Game 7, the bullpen will be loaded most likely since CC and AJ will give innings in games 5 + 6.

I'd go:

Andy-Game 3
CC-Game 4 on short rest
AJ-Game 5 on short rest
Andy-Game 7 on short rest

This series might come down to a battle of the bullpens in Game 7 at Yankees Stadium, in which case the Yankees have the advantage if Mo, Joba, Hughes and Robertson are up to the task. Our bullpen is decidedly better than the Phillies. So I say, burn out our best starters in Games 5 + 6 and let our bullpen come in early to bail out Andy if need be in Game 7.

Speaking of the song Empire state of mind. Did anyone have trouble tistening to the words coming out of jay z mouth? It was the first time i heard the song and i had my ears glued to the television set wanting to hear it clearly. Didnt get much. Had to go online and read the lyrics later on.

there isnt a lot of AB's against them anyway, im just saying in short sample size, they both see him well, i dont see him as a better pitcher today then when he pitched with the A's.
