Local paper incredibly confident in Phillies
The Philadelphia Inquirer has apologized today for running an ad (from Macy’s) congratulating the Phillies on winning back-to-back World Series titles.
In a related story, George Steinbrenner is now in serious negotiations to make Bloomingdale’s the “official department store of the New York Yankees.”

This is just one example of the overconfident sillies!
Rollins will be apologizing soon, too. I even expect Darth Vader to “accept” said apology.
“The ad features a T-shirt from Majestic that has a giant logo, with “Philadelphia Phillies 2009 Back-to-Back World Series champions.”
Some poor children in Guatemala will be glad to hear about these shirts…..
How bout Jeter bunts to start the game? Runs will obviously be tough to get off Lee, so why not start with a bunt. If successful, you hit and run with Damon. Try to force the action, make something happen.
That’s funny. A little over confident, no?

Where do you live? I always thought you were in the middle somewhere for some reason”
Orlando in the winter time. Right across the street from JD. You want to come visit?

YES!
Thanks for the offer Erica, but I’m just as likely to win with my original entry. I’m stickin’ to it!

The DVR sync to radio broadcast is the way to go. My problem is living in South Florida we get sterling all year long and the post season except for the series as the local station here is contractually bound to espn radio with Miller and Morgan.
If I could get the sterling feed on line I would sync that with DVR. Does anyone know if that is possible? I don’t want to listen to Morgan and Miller nor Fox. If anyone knows how I can get sterling on line I would greatly appreciate it.

Awesome. Joe DiTangino is a great neighbor. You’ll enjoy meeting him.
is this posted in the Yankees locker room?
anybody else here a yankees fan in chicago? need somewhere to watch with other yankees fans!

How is this any different from manuel or rollins?

Zach, if a joke doesn’t come naturally, I just drop it. Nobody needs to be the centaur of attention all the time.

Can I nominate this for the pun of the year? most excellent, young master Nick!
If the story is true, then it deserves to be played out. Coming from a faceless drifter packs a much greater punch than those in the media that think part of their job description is to poke fun at A-rod.
That pun definitely belongs in the blog HOF.

Awesome. I am very excited
I love this team. I have 100% faith in this team. I’m fully confident that we will win the World Series. But I also think this Series is going 7 games still. We’ve seen a degredation in the pitching performances of both Andy & CC on 3 days rest. We’re asking a lot for 3 starters to pitch a 7 game series. Please Yanks, prove me wrong tonight!!
YankeeRay, just get a subscription to MLB gameday audio. You can pick your feed, it’s pretty great. 15 bucks for the whole year, but since it’s only for one (I hope) game, there might be an a la carte option.
Or the MLB app for the iphone, which is great and you can play any feed from, as well. I think that’s only 5 now.

Damon LF
Tex 1B
Arod 3B
Swish RF
Cano 2B
Gardner CF

AJ P

Please Explain Centaur References -
Any news on Melky???

Apparently, those tshirts are used as lingerie all over New England.
Can anyone vouch for this?
“Nick in SF,
A man of principles!!!!!
You did manage to take advantage of Patrick’s (I think I have the name right) bet even though to warned him. ”
Nick is the ultimate hustler, don’t let his humor distract you!
Nice joke Sam, but too bad Macy’s owns Bloomingdales.
Ellsworth,
this should get you up to speed on Centaur-gate.

PeteAbe has been having a field day on his twitter page.
“That pun definitely belongs in the blog HOF.”
Just about every NY beat writer has used some form of that pun for the last 2 days in addition to a plethora of other horse references.
Sort of reminds me of “19-0: The Undefeated Season of the 2007 New England Patriots”
Let’s not get overconfident either, still another one to get. Did they replace me on the roster yet?
Erica,
My lineup guess:
Jeterman SS
PBF LF
Texman 1B
Arodman 3B
Swishman RF
Don’t ya Know, Cano 2B
GardyMan CF
MolinaMan C
AJ_TheMan P
Thanks again for being the silver lining of our Blog
Few positives for the yanks to overcome the overall negativity and the posada/molina debate and Burnett/Gaudin debate…..
1) If the yanks are keeping it close tonight in the 6-7 inning, the yanks have a great bench..Posada, Matsui, Hairston and Hinske… Phillies dont have that luxury..
2) If Pettite starts to crack tomorrow, Gaudin is there for backup.. Its not like Joe is gonna leave Andy to take up the beating… If ppl think Gaudin can pitch tonight, he should be able to pitch tomorrow as well right??
3) Yanks will have their A lineup with Posada and Matsui in Game 6 and Game 7 (if required)…
4) The phillies best reliever Madson has thrown 42 pitches in the last 2 days.. If the yanks get to the phillies bullpen its advantage yanks again as they will face Park, Eyre, Durbin and Myers…
im sure this has been posted on here before but has anyone seen this?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YuDZVJ8Hd8I
Its Chan Ho Park visibly spitting on the ball in last nights game. Unlike the Mo video, there are no shenanigans going on here. He straight up spits on it
“framing is a subtle art to fool the umpire.
very hard to say how much effect it has though we know it has some effect.”
Randy l-
Surprisingly though, I don’t think anyone has been able to quantify it. So while it exists, no one has been able to measure its impact on the game.
My personal theory is that, in order to succeed as a major league catcher, you have to be good at framing pitches, and that once you are good at it, being “better” at it doesn’t really help.
if I could get away with the Centaur thing, I’d do it too.
Andy & CC on 3 days
___
We havent seen andy on 3 days rest in a really long time and i dont think you can call what we saw from cc a degeneration.
Frank-
You are welcome
Yeah. I think the best bet is to go with A.J. vs. Pedro. I don’t want to risk this series going to game 7. Pedro and Hamels can be beat, so why worry about Lee. I hope we win tonight but I think the Yankees did what they needed to do and that was taking 2/3 in Philly.
GTLU is over-
Please do not submit anymore line ups
pat,
I guess I haven’t been paying attention. If “centaur of attention” has been used by the mass media, then I regretfully withdraw my nomination.
But it was still funny.
Erica, my lineup if the contest is still going:
Derek The Captain Jeter – SS
Johnny Drama Damon – LF
Mark The Shark Teixeira – 1B
Alex Half man, Half horse, All clutch Rodriguez – 3B
Robinson Swings-a-lot Cano
Nicky The Jokeman Swisher – RF
Brett Fastest White Dude Alive Gardner – CF
Jose Slow-mo Molina – C
A.J. The Baker Burnett – P
this is crazy how many ‘fans’ want to give up gave 5 for the chance to be a little better in game 6-7.
Lee is not god. he can and will be beaten.
Erica
wouldn’t it be funny if Melky actually was in the line up…no one put him in did they?
Darn just missed it, oh well I had fun coming up with the nicknames. Although, I must admit the nicknames were just an excuse to make a centaur joke
Okay Patrick-
Cause your line up is so fancy looking
You have the pitching advantage and homefield advantage so I think Girardi is taking a risk that the Yankees don’t need to take.

I’m glad to see that the “Buffalo Bills, Super-Bowl Champions” fad is over.
oh that Alex
Dear Philadelphia Inquirer:
See “Dewey Beats Truman”
“Lee is not god. he can and will be beaten.”
Exactly! We all know Mo is god, and therefore the Yanks can not lose.
I would cry if Joe Girardi won LOL
Check with Nick on the odds!
Zooboy – thank you for not putting me in left field! (As in, “she’s out in left field.”
Come on… Trisha should be catching AJ.
pat, were you suggesting that I came up with the same obvious pun as many others or that I had, er, help??

Game thread up
Andy Pettite was 1-1 with a 3.79 ERA in 2006 when starting in 3 days rest.. its not great.. but its not terrible either.. The yanks didnt need him in 3 days rest till now since he came back.. doesnt mean that he can’t do it..
“pat, were you suggesting that I came up with the same obvious pun as many others or that I had, er, help??”
I just can’t get enough of the centaur jokes. I really do hope that the story is true although it probably isn’t. If anyone were to have 2 oil paintings of himself as a centaur it would be A-rod.
I’d probably go with a griffin or a sphinx if I had his kind of money but I guess to each his own.
Hmmm, would I rather track down Pete’s latest “musings” on the Yankees, or would I rather stick pins in my eyes?
I’ll uh have to get back to you on that.
Erica, I fear the temptation would have been too great if you weren’t the queen of LF!!!
Is there anyway our bottom four just doesn’t look so horrendous tonight?
I know he is going to go with Molina, but you also have two lefties before him and AJ after him, ouch.
If we win this game tonight it will be because Philly lost it.
SS Jeter
LF Damon
1B Tex
3B ARod
RF Swisher
CF Cano
2B Molina
C Gardner
P Burnett
At least try to break up the lefties, just for a different look. At least when Posada pinch hits he’ll be in a better spot.
how come there aren’t any articles or any mention of chan ho parks spitball? he clearly spit on the baseball. so does it just not matter because it’s not Mo?
Yay! EL NINO is back!!!! Love that kid
Oh boy, please at some point joe put Po’s bat into the lineup.
