27!
Joe Girardi put the number on his back when he arrived two years ago, and the Yankees have made the dream come true tonight.
The Yankees beat the Phillies, 7-3, in Game 6 to win their 27th World Series championship. Congratulations to the Yankees and to all of you who have been living and dying right along with them.
Back with much, much, much more from the clubhouse as soon as we can.

My favorite celebration moment was seeing Matsui screaming. He’s changed a lot in his time in NY. If he leaves, he’ll be missed.
Awwww, Jetes hugging Nady
Joe G got pied haha
Time for Girardi to get his banana cream pie.
Alex finally got that monkey off his back.
Oh God I am so happy ! We Are World Champs !

This is so awesome! I am just in awe! WHO IS GOING TO THE PARADE?
Do you know I was sitting next to HeyDicky Matsui at a Giant’s game and two 10 year old boys came up and quietly asked him for his autograph. He looked down at them and said, “No” and looked away. When Ass-Rod moved to the city he stayed in a hotel. He walked around with a major league chip on his shoulder and was so cheap he didn’t tip anyone. Johnny Damon, well, look what he did while his wife was giving birth. These are the people you are cheering for. It’s really sad.
I LOVE NEW YORK AND THE YANKEES!
How many days until Spring Training 2010?
Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank You Yankees!!!!!!!! 2009 World Champions…#27!!!!!
Looking for a Banana cream pie for Girardi???
I love this team!!!!
Congrats to the Yanks on a great year.
“its 5am”
Glad to hear someone else is up at 5am. My whole family is asleep here (England) while the NYer sits up alone watching baseball!
27!
Great season!
Sweet! Congratulations to the 2009 World Champs, THE NEW YORK YANKEES!!!!!
Well, once again pitching wins championships….happily we had it this year!!!
CONGRATS TO AROD, ONE OF THE GREATEST PLAYERS TO EVER PLAY NOW HAS A RING!!!!!

Raise Twenty-Seven!
Friends, We are the Champions!
Let the Champagne flow!!!!!
HEY NOWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!
Totally awesome! Thank you Yankees!
Allison,
Jealous much?
I’m going to the parade.
Great pitching is the key to championships. Said it in 03, said it in 04, said it in 05, said it in 06, said it in 07, said it in 08.
And here it is.
Had they not let Pettitte walk after 03, this would have been 29 or 30.
This is what happens when Andy Pettitte, not Jon Lieber, or Kevin Brown, is pitching a clincher at Yankee Stadium.
It took 8 years for the Yankees to realize it.
Thank our lucky stars as Yankee fans, and God help the rest of baseball.
Did Joe get pie?
This was a special team. This is a special year.
“Poor Mussina.”
Lol. This officially closes the book on his “almost” career.
What Lohud posters are at the game?
What a great thrill for them.
This postgame show has to be sheer hell for Buck & McCarver
Tell bruney to give back the shirt and hat!
Erica:
Johnny is jogging and appears to be ok!
When will the parade be?
Well phillies you better buy some steroids boys lol
This team had a great feeling about it all year, but it’s soooooooo hard to get to the WS and I think I only really now appreciated just how hard it is. What a special year. Some guys sought and found redemption, some sought to recapture past glory and some guys got paroled from baseball he*** (Hairston and Hinske)…………Either way, it all ended in the happiest, most satisfying way possible.
Congrats to the Yanks and all it’s great fans!!! It’s bitter sweet to watch this team from the first practice in February till October glory!!!#27!!!!
Go Yankees from Melbourne, Australia!!!!
A YEAR OF PIES ENDS WITH TEARS IN THE EYES.
Mo or Matsui for MVP!! (Pettite for honorable mention)
Swisher, the Yankee Color Guard
What a way to christen the new stadium. What a phenomenal way to break in the first year of the team’s new home.
Just amazing. What a phenomenal way to break in a new stadium.
Yessss!!!!!! Congrats everyone!!!!!! YAY YANKEES!!!!!!!!!
I want to see the champagne too in the clubhouse.
ESPN is reporting that Matsui won it
BETSY,
NO MORE WORRIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
27 IS HOME.
Where’s Mo’s Flat Cutter?
Im coming to the parade can someone give me a lift from the airport!
Congrats to the Yanks and all it’s steroid use
Does Bruney try to spray Hal again?
Awesome way to end the season! I’m proud to be a fan of the NY Yankees!

Congratulations you guys!
I tip my hat to the Yankee team and all their fans. You had an outstanding season.
————————————————————
Many thanks, Ray. You’re always a class act.
You know, it’s still not too late to be a part of the evil Empire. You’d be most welcome.
Of course, you realize that joining up with the Empire this late, you wouldn’t get the big, diamond encrusted Championship ring that the rest of us get, but, you will get a smaller version.
Ugh Lonn Trost and the rest of the mafia.
I wish George was there
27 IS FOR THE BOSS AS WELL AS MY GRANDFATHER!!!!!!!!!!
GO YANKEES!!!!!!!!!! 2009 WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONS!!!!!!!!!!
Someone let Hank Steinbrenner out of the closet!
wow…HANK SITING!
YEAH THEY WON IT FOR GEORGR!
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great, great season. Thanks to all the bloggers who have worked so hard to chronicle it for us and making this the must-read spot for Yankees fans.
No. 27: WOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks Ray …. by far my favorite Sox fan!!
“MLB”‘s post is a no-class sour grape…get out!!!
I have been bawling since about the 6th inning! I can hardly see now!!!!!!!!
One of my loveliest moments was when Mo got his last out and my phone rang, and it was one of my brothers (all Red Sox fans in my family) calling to say congratulations. I was crying so hard I could hardly speak.
IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO LOVE THIS TEAM ANY MORE!!!!!
Oh my goodness gracious, they untied Hank!
How on earth did I miss the pie? I’ve had it on Fox the whole time……….ugh
The BOSS!!!
Is there a postgame on YES? I have FOX on

Expectation: Championship
Reality: Championship!
Suck on That!
Counting down to someone in the media mentions Yankee payroll … 5 .. 4… 3… 2
Congrats Yankee fans!
Hank looks like Frankinstein
Yanks are once again team of the decade (00s). Only they and the Sox won 2, but the Yanks went to 2 other series and made the post season every year except once.
Haha! Joe!
Joe Girardi is absolutely beaming. I love this!
Congrats to the Yankees! Congrats to everyone here!
Yes will be on after Fox

Yes reported earlier that they would have it after the required fox broadcast of the celebration
Hal is such a dork. Could he try squaring up to the camera, camera shy or what.
I love how excited Joe G is!! He’s amazing!!
Girardi is giddy. Now its time for the water works.
I am COVERED in beer. 27th heaven, baby!!

There’s a party goin on right here,
A Celebration to last throughout the years.
So bring your good times, and your laughter too,
We’re gonna Celebrate your party with you.
Come on now….C E L E B R A T I O N!
Big mistake not using Lee in game 4,Manuel,huge!!
Yankees conquered the Sox,the Angels and beat the reining WS champions with a 3 pitcher rotation.
Big game Andy came through for the Yankees.
Coolstandings.com was 100% correct all postseason, they said Yankees in 6,by the way.
Joe is off the hook excited!1
The Sayonara kid,Matsui leaves the Yankees with the WS MVP,and a Championship ring.

GB7,
The parallels are just amazing. It is just wonderful that they won again in their first year of the stadium.
Matsui being named the MVP is a remarkable emblem of how much the game and the world has changed since then.
Let’s go Yankees!
Let’s go LoHud Blog posters!
My vote would have been Mo. But what a great Yankee Matsui has been. Thank You Hideki!!
Don’t drop it Alex
Matsu … Matsu …. Matsu … Matsu …. Matsu …
Sign him … sign him … sign him … sign him
Arod looks really young.
Marte was unreal..never expected that
A-Rod should’ve ended that with “WE GONNA PARTY … I’M SINGLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE”
I LOVE YOU ANDREW EUGENE PETTITTE!!!!
Awww Andy!
Alex! What a year this was for him – imagine that it started out so poorly and now? He’s completely turned it around and he will/should never, ever hear the words “choker” about him again. We’re going to PARTY!!!

This is probably the happiest I’ve been in years. Yankees! Yes!

Ticker tape parade honoring World Series champion NY Yankees scheduled for Friday http://bit.ly/QWSg1
10 minutes ago from twitterfeed
Congrats All! Love this blog, love this team!
One of the great parts of this season has been the way it puts to rest so many of the ridiculous story lines that have been pasted onto this team and this group of players since the last world chamionship.
- The yankees can only win in the regular season.
- The yankees as a team can’t beat the Red Sox.
- The yankees can’t beat the Angels.
- The yankees aren’t “clutch”
- Alex is “unclutch” and will never be a “winner”… (otherwise known as the team was better off with Scott Brosius.)
- CC isn’t a big game pitcher.
- One of my personal favorites from the start of the season: No team has ever won a world series with a 35 year old short stop ergo the yankees can’t win with Jeter.
- The yankees buy all of their players and can’t internally develop talent
- They yankees can’t identify or sign pitching talent
The list just goes on and on.
What a magical season.
Oldest shortstop to win a world series I believe
anyone know will the parade be on Friday?
wow, .615 avg for Godzilla!!
Mo, another 5 years!!!
Mo is pitching for 5 more years! LOL
Thanks Laura
And JZ
Who is this this clown interviewing the players??????????

the sweeney murti curse has been lifted a fantastic season!
The parade will most likely be on Friday. The reason it is done during the week is because they need the people that work in the Canyon of Heroes to throw out the confetti.
… and I thought about this, too:
I hope Mr. Sheppard is somewhere smiling on this one.
Wish you were in the ballpark tonight, sir. Congratulations to you, too.
Congrats Lohud people!

Thank goodness we did not reach that doomsday scenario!

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Friday I think..well thats what they said on TV
EAT IT FAT PETE
Joe Torre has to be ill tonight.
Ozzie picked the Phillies. No wonder his team lost.
I get chills thinking about Mo,Jeter,Andy.and Posada having 5 rings at the same time,on the same team.It has to be a record.
Charlie Manuel as slick as he tried to be,had 1 pitcher that won his only 2 games, against a 3 pitcher rotation.

CHAMPIONS AGAIN!!
I’ve been wearing my beat up old Pettitte shirt all day in honor of #46!
The Yankees win, THE YANKEES WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
“C-Money, where u at?”
i got him tied up .
… and i’m not letting him go until he makes me the bullpen catcher
It was nice seeing familiar faces like Nady, Wang, etc., take part in the festivities as they have during the post season run. Hope to see them back next year.
For me, this win comes close to the 1996 one after that eighteen year drought. The subsequent wins of the Torre era were satisfying, but they were riding on a momentum and not as dramatic. I remember the 1977-78 wins, but that was so long ago I don’t recall how pumped I was compared to this one!
All those years post-2000 are now a distant memory.
What are the rules for rings? Whoever is on the roster throughout the regular season?
Does Brett Tomko, Kevin Cash, Jose Veras get rings?

Matsui too, right?
What time will the parade begin?
Congratulations Yankee fans!!! It’s been a long 9 years. Who’s going to join me at the parade?
What an amazingly resilient team – you just can not quantify the toughness they showed this year. The Yankees never, ever, ever gave up adn that is their most endearing quality to me…..
Time for me to have a Miller Lite (or 75 of them) and take a victory lap on a horse
Mo 0.74 ERA in 88 postseason games… WOW!!!!!!!!
To Erica, CB, Nick in SF and everyone else, thanks for a great season in my first one on the blog. See you all tomorrow as we build for 28

DO YOU HAPPEN TO GET MLBNETWORK AND ESPNEWS. I NEED POSTGAMES.”
Thanks!
I get MLB Network and ESPN news. Will the parade be on there?
I was back in NY for the last parade – I thought all the local channels carried it.
Tarheel, now you’ve got me crying again! Thanks for being such a good friend to me so many times here when my back was against the wall. You definitely were such a great part of my enjoyment of this phenomenal season.
My cyberlove to you!!!
Happy Birthday Johnny Damon!
the real question is what cut of the money pie goes to betemit, berroa and ransom lol.
Sui MVP. How sweet is that.
All the newbies have postseason experience now.Next year they know what to expect, and can settle down.
Phillies scare the NL because they are lefty heavy. The Yankees are use to lefties,no big deal!
As I repeatedly posted on the first game thread,Yankees would win! Stop filling your heads with Yankee hater minutia!
They talk loud and say NOTHING!
What an amazing night and what an amazing game.
“a private bullpen catcher for AJ?”
I heard he hits like one too.
This has been a special team.
Cheers to No. 27.

Can all the long time/first times please tell Francessa what an idiot he is for insisting on conceding game 5 with Gaudin and using AJ tonight. Would it have surprised anyone if AJ got creamed tonight? No, of course not. Joe G wanted Andy to pitch tonight short rest or not, and he was right, Francessa was wrong.
WHOOOOOO-HOOOOO!!!
Happy Birthday MPB Johnny Damon
You are awesome

Doreen-
How were you holding up during that game?
Congrats fellow Yankee fans…………it was a long, exciting year with a ton of walkoff wins, ending in #27!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What a great season!
I look forward to 2010. We have a young pitching staff, with a lot of great young talent coming up, and a veteran nucleus that can teach the youngsters what it takes to win.
This could be the start of a nice dynasty.
The New York Yankees, the most successful professional franchise in the history of sports!
27 going on 28!
See you guys next Spring!

I won’t be able to. So you better go for me at least!!
The pool tourney was what did it…
The crazy thing is there are some young players here and Cash will not rest on his laurels…they will fortify this team.
Don’t underestimate the job AJ did in Game 2. If he doesn’t win that one, well…He picked up the team there, and Andy and the team picked him up after Game 5.
I’m very upset I got rid of cable early this year. Postgame on the local channels SUCKS!!
This was big.
There were some elementary kids who have never seen a Yankee championship.

Oh. I understand that.

It would be a shame to miss it.

Wang, have you been to a parade?
Aww, cute interview with Phil…….even though he had a rough go of it in the post-season, this team doesn’t sniff the post-season without his efforts in the pen
The players on this team have been just unbelievable.
But you also have to tip your hat to the phenomenal job Brian Cashman did in assembling this team.
For the first time in a very long time the yankees used their resources in a rational fashion, one that could be described as close to optimal.
And it made all the difference.
The roots for this team were planted back in the winter of 2007 when Cashman made the most controversial decision of his career – not trading for Johann Santana.
It was that decision coupled to Cashman’s emphasis on drafting and building with young players starting when he got full control of the franchise in 2005 that were the key factors to transitioning this franchise back to being champions.
Cashman patiently waited until this past off season when the free agent market was rich and the team had huge amounts of salary coming off the books to improve the team without paying in both money and talent to improve the team.
Cashman has been skewered to no end in NY by both fans and the media for assorted moves.
Anytime something positive happens his accomplishments have often been dismissed as a function of money and “buying players.”
And he’s done it in the most unassuming fashion possible always deflecting credit to the ownership, players and manager.
And of course on the night where his vision and the organizational change he instilled in the franchise came to fruition he was almost nowhere to be found.

CONGRATS TO ALL YANKEES PLAYERS, EMPLOYEES, AND FANS.
CB – of course, you are right. Cash deserves immense credit for having the right vision, and then executing it. And, the decision on to pass on Santana set them up for the years ahead, as CC and Phil Hughes keep winning.
I remember when the Yanks finished in Tampa, the Yanks brought in some of their minor league players, and Joe pointed to Pena, Cervelli, Coke, Phil and told them that they – the minor leaguers – were not that far away. Some of those young players will help the Yanks to win Nos. 28, 29,….

I’m on a bus on the way from montreal to NYC (had tickets to game 7, but now i guess i’ll spend some time with the family instead!), thank god the bus has wi-fi… We had just pulled up at the border when there was one out left to go, and i was PRAYING that i could see the last out before they forced me off. Thankfully i saw it, and literally 5 seconds later the bus turned off, cutting out the wifi, and a border patrol officer walked on and told us to file out and says ‘oh and by the way, the yankees just won the world series’ and fist pumped. BEST MOMENT OF MY LIFE

Both of you said it all year long. Never waivered.

i just saw a highlight of joe hugging arod with arod crying on his shoulder when they were on the field…
I’ll never forget that Pete called Hideki a “spare part”.
Buck and McCarver were classless til the very end. Almost total silence at the end of the game/totally unenthusiastic during the awards ceremonies. They even found every excuse to mention how great the Phillies were during the celebration. Unbelievable.
“Some of those young players will help the Yanks to win Nos. 28, 29,….”
The team has obviously accomplished the pinnacle of what is possible for a single season and that should be thoroughly enjoyed and it will be.
But I find it hard not to start thinking about the future.
I’ve wanted to post about this for a while but it was inappropriate to do so until the world series was over.
The rest of baseball could be in enormous trouble.
The yankees are poised to go on a massive run. That’s not to say they are going to win 4 of the next 5 series….
But they now have a core of very talented young pitchers both for the starting rotation and the pen.
And they have a high quality process through which they can continue to bring in strong young players every year into the system.
There is so much pitching talent even now in the minors.
If they continue to allocate resources rationally they are going to be beastly to deal with for years to come.
Night Y’all…what a year and post season.
Thanks for sharing the time.
2009 World Champion New York Yankees…has a nice ring to it.

Buck and McCarver were classless til the very end. Almost total silence at the end of the game/totally unenthusiastic during the awards ceremonies. They even found every excuse to mention how great the Phillies were during the celebration. Unbelievable.
They mentioned either Boston or the Red Sox 48 times during tonight’s broadcast. Nothing for our victory from Buck. But we did hear about “our payroll”
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Payroll dont win nothin. Teams and players and teams that play as families win.
WORLD CHAMPIONS BOYS!!!!! WE DID IT!!!!! WE DID IT!
From Pete’s Twitter –
“Happy for all my friends and the loyal readers of my old blog. Congrats and enjoy it. Glad to be here to cover it.
about 1 hour ago from Tweetie”
CB, what do you think happens with Damon, Matsui and Pettite….do the Yankees go after Lackey or Holliday, any early predictions

to all the bridge jumpers and debbie downers, to all the people who were saying the season was over with 3 months left and that we couldnt hang with boston or LA, in the immortal words of Shaquille O’neal. HOW MY @$$ TASTE!
Wow.. their win even made the papers back home in Sydney. So exciting!

I’m in the same boat, having to flip channels, but I’ve enjoyed both ready and posting on the blog with so many great Yankee fans.
Congrats to all my Yankee friends!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think that once Mo retires they will name an award after him. There has never been anyone like Mo, and never will be again.
Mo is on ESPN now – standing next to Gammons and Winny.
Congratulations to the New York Yankees – World Champions of Baseball!!!!!
It’s been a great ride.
See you all Friday!!!!!!!! Feelssssss soooooo sweeeeeeeeetttttt
WORLD CHAMPIONS!!!!
damn, I already begin to miss baseball….
Gopher,
I don’t want to get that far ahead. We should enjoy this for a long while.
I’ll say this however – this is going to be a very fun hot stove season.
Much easier to make decisions coming off a championship.
This team is positioned very, very well for the future.
They are anchored by one of the 5 best pitchers in the game and he’s 29. Alex returned to form as one of the 5 best players in the game. They have a stud 29 year old 3 hole hitter. They have two young pitchers who have the chance to be true frontline pitchers if they stay healthy. They have an all star caliber second baseman in his mid 20′s signed long term at a good price. They have a ton of pitching depth in the minors.
This 2009 team is only the start.
To steal a line from Sam Rosen on the 1994 NY Rangers…..
And I will look toward next year after a few weeks off……
but for Alex, and Hideki, and Joba, and Phil, and Robi and Melky and Tex and Hairston and obviously the rest….
THIS ONE WILL LAST A LIFETIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Where the Hell is Cash?
“Yes!! Dynasty I hoped you saved all those haikus…… put them in a book. I’ll buy a copy.”
Thanks for the Kudos DT!
And thanks to Erica for the thumbs up!
It’s been a pleasure to write these Haiku…you’re all a terrific audience and I appreciate your encouragement!
Thanks!
I’m not even thinking about the future. Just enjoying the moment, because you never know how long it’ll be until it comes along again. This was my 44th season as a Yankees fan, and they’ve now won 7 times. But 37 times, they haven’t. It makes this all the sweeter. Whether or not they succeed next year

Absolutely, It goes without saying that the Yankee’s have the best fans no matter where they are! I am still loving this and can’t wait for Friday. I am relatively new to the blog but it has given me a lot more insight and a spin on things I might not have necessarily thought about before. The Yankee camaradaie on here is also fantastic!
Erica, the lotto ticket wasn’t a winner. I’ll let you know though if I stumble upon a million somewhere.
Sadly, I can’t keep my eyes open and have to go to sleep.
Sweet Yankee Dreams Everyone!!!
Good night Yankee people!!!!
Gammons conitinues to be a tool
GAMMONS JUST MENTIONED 2001 WORLD SERIES AND MARIANO BLOWING THE SAVE,
TO MARIANO’S FACE.

Ray, lol……..touche. I’m not used to this feeling, the feeling of having NOTHING to worry about. Weird.
———————————————–
Enjoy it, see ya at the parade. we can all relax now.
did the Yanks make one glaring gaff/error/bonehead play all post season?
so much for not being able to win a WS with a 35-year-old SS.
Good night Erica!
Sleep well!
mo says his ribs were killing him and he didn’t know if he would have been able to pitch tomorrow.
Comment from a Cub Fan name gallo76-

I’m tired of the Yankees. Kind of like the Patriots….get somebody new in there.
I guess Yankees would be more interesting to watch too if they actually groomed some sort of talent rather than go out and buy their teams. At least a majority of the Philly roster has been with the club for a while.
Celtics, same thing. Have no interest in watching Pierce-Garnett-Allen because of the way they got there. And I do know that is what a lot of sports/teams are starting to turn to.
all the mvp talk and nobody said matsui…..shows you how “UNPREDICTABLE’ baseball really is.
Good night Erica. I am off too. Good night Yankee fans!
Gammons was making the point how Mo was largely unlucky that night in Arizona and he was right.
He mentioned how Mo broke three bats that night, but the breaks didn’t go his way.
He wasn’t insulting Rivera.
What happened to everyone on here? Where did everyone go? It seems like everyone either left or is off celebrating and if so shame on me
Mariano admitted the rib injury.
and for CHIEN
The Chinner!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I’ve been reading the blog for the past 2 seasons and really have appreciated several of the posters. I just started posting towards the end of the season and it’s been very enjoyable here, so many great Yankee fans.
I hope the conversation continues to flow thisw offseason as it’s done in the past.
Just wanted to say that I’ve been in Israel for the entire playoffs, meaning that basically all the games have started at 2, and more recently 3(with setting back the clocks), yet I’ve gotten up for each and every one of them. People here think I’m crazy, but I didn’t even see it as an option to sleep through it. And it paid off, and hopefully next year when I’m back in America they can do it again. Go Yanks!!!
Good night Erica.
Your GTLU and postseason countdowns DID IT!!!!!!!!!!!!
You’re doin it next year!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh. My. God. Who just saw the Mo interview on Sports Center with Gammons leaning over and wanting to die while Mo talked about how great this was.
Yanks won #27 on 8 years to the day of that blown save in 2001.
Let Gammons mention it all he wants. The history is in the past.
a lot of pain is washed away with this
to quote Chase Utley
“World bleeping Champions!”
Phillies fans are already making excuses on Facebook – “payroll,” “HGH,” and umps calls have been cited so far. Music to my ears.
I bet anything that Mariano tore a rib cage muscle.
GB, Good season old buddy
I’ve always thought that Mo should be honored by a special award for Closers named the Rivera closer award.CY Young has one named after him for 511 wins.
Mo will have more closes than that when he finishes,he needs to be honored.
Mo is in excellent physical shape,Cashman won’t release him,he’ll retire a Yankee.
“Buck and McCarver were classless til the very end. Almost total silence at the end of the game/totally unenthusiastic during the awards ceremonies.”
I hate to defend those two clowns, but they played it well at the end of the game. The most annoying thing for any sports announcer to do is talk over the moment instead of letting the moment speak for itself. The total silence was a good thing.
G’nite Erica and Tarheelyank,
Hope everyone has sweet Yankee dreams!
I’m just so happy!
Congrats, everyone! We’re back!
hey um jace123, yanks haven’t won in 9 years so there has been “someone new” for past 9 years and Paul Pierce has been with Boston his whole career..get your facts straight then talk. thanks. oh and GO YANKS!
# trisha – OPPC forever – (new lucky picture from last day at the old Stadium) BRING ON THE GHOSTS! November 5th, 2009 at 12:03 am
——That is one beautiful post!—————
“I bet anything that Mariano tore a rib cage muscle.”
Yep, he did. He couldn’t have gone in 7.
From Neyer @ ESPN –
“Telling Statistic: The Yankees are now 204-1 when Rivera has been asked to protect a four-run lead. ”
Wow. We’ll never see another as great as Mo.
Thankfully he’s pitching another 5 years!!
(I wonder what Cash thought when he heard that..lol)
YES! We’re 15 miles out of Boston, deep in RS territory….and it will be VERY sweet going into work in a few hours!
What a Team!!!
Had to watch the game on a small TV in ER of hospital for my 22 month old daughter. But very memorable, and awesome.
Heres to you #27!!!Thats 5 for the core 4.
Parade at 11:00 aM on Friday on YES.
If the Phillies want to talk about HGH they should start with looking at the new chins on Werth and Chan Ho Park.
Gammons said Mo was the overall MVP and Cy Young award winner cumulatively in the last 15 years.
Again, he was giving him massive props.
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!
WE DID IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow, I didn’t hear this, but apparently MO said he was in serious pain from a rib injury and was not sure he could go tomorrow. How he did what he did tonight with that injury i remarkable. I worship this man

Wooohooo WORLD CHAMPS!!!!! I somehow got tickets tonight and witnessed the most amazing game I’ve ever been a part of.
Sam, Chad and Josh, thank you for keeping this blog the same great experience that we have all come to know and love. I look forward to continue reading this blog into the offseason.
Until then…see you all at the parade!

Hey, Pat M. Yes, it was. This was probably the two closest matched teams in a WS since 2001 or even earlier than that….probably the late ’70s yanks/Dodgers. I still miss those old Yankee/Royals playoff games, though. Those were real wars.
This year wrapped up Matsui’s $52 million, four-year contract. It remains to be seen what the aging Yankees will do with Matsui. Whatever happens, he certainly left his mark.
“I hope so. I hope it works out that way,” he said. “I love New York, I love the Yankees.”

Well your certainly a welcome addition here. I hope the Yankees winning the W/S helps put a positive spin on you going forward.
How did Mo hurt himself? Man, that would have been scary, no Mo for tomorrow.
Congrats to an incredible, diverse, global collection of fans.

on to the parade……….see ya there……where is it, the old canyon of heroes or will they move it to mid-town.?

Mo is just…there are no words.
Bye, guys. I’m finally off to work. Took most of the day off to see the guys win it ALL.
And they did.
anyone catch ESPN wrap-up?
Mo walks in during wrap-up….everyone gets their say in, and the first thing out of Old Man Gammons’ mouth was Arizona.
a few mins after he mentioned Mo was Cy Young of last 15 years.
what is it with that tool?
Back on top again, it feels so good, so good.

Thank You Cereveli for all the games the Yankees continued to win, when the #1 and #2 catchers were on the DL.
Good bye Molina.
