I dislike the entire premise of this post. Perpetuates the myth that people who work at "companies" aren't true fans. Sam -- when do you think the next time you will have to reach into your pocket to see a Yankee game will be?

I went to Game 7 of the 2004 ALCS (horrible, horrible night), and as we were approaching the stadium on the subway the guy next to me was on his phone telling someone, "Yeah, we'll probably stay until the 7th inning and head out of there." I was totally shocked and disgusted. Leave the 7th inning of Game 7 vs. the Sox??

So apparently, for whatever reason, these types of people do show up for these games. But hopefully not too many. (And of course, he didn't actually miss anything important by leaving in the 7th inning.)

I went to 12 games this year including opening day and game 1 and 2 of the ALDS. I always sit in the RF bleachers and we were standing on the benches the entire game. When Arod tied the game in the 9th, i've never seen anything like it. It was the loudest, roudiest thing I have ever seen or been a part of. We are the same fans from across the street and we act the same way. You gotta compare apples to apples. When we talk about the noise at the old stadium, we think of Boone's walkoff, Games 3, 4, 5 of the '01 World Series, etc. No one is thinking about how loud it was during Gm7 of the '04 ALCS. The place is loud and roudy and we don't lose there.

can't agree with you more!
i'll be there tonight (minus the $700 I spent on left field bleacher seats)
but you can count on me screaming and tormenting Pedro as he warms up in the Philly bullpen before the game!

*"AEROFANATIC November 4th, 2009 at 11:02 am

In 135 career games in RF, Eric Hinske has made a grand total of ONE ERROR.
In 327 career games in RF, Nick Swisher has made a grand total of EIGHT ERRORS."*

Errors are a really bad way to judge OF defense.

The new Stadium doesn't have the upper deck hanging over the field, increasing the noise as well as the echo. It was a mistake not to design it that way.

Swisher has hit 29 homers and can take a walk when needed. Joe will be going with him. No need for desperation. He has been swinging a better bat of late so I think we'll see him in RF. Hairston, Hinske, Pena off the bench will be good enough. The criowd will be into it big time with Pedro. The key is Andy keeping the game close for 4-5 innings..if he does, we win tonite.

I think the audio set up as far as television goes definitely has something to do with it. I'm not sure if the "openness" of the stadium may have been playing a role as well. The old yard was very much a toilet bowl like set up where all the sound was flushed down into the center of the field, echoing off the walls and vibrating the stadium. The new house has all these openings everywhere and is much more symmetric and open, owing to more sound escaping and less thundering sound. The business-filled crowd isn't helping the situation, either. Hopefully tonight is better, but I doubt it given the ridiculous prices.

What I don't understand is why Pedro gets the edge? I can understand calling it even.

I want the Yankees to win because I love them. But now, I also want them to win in order to shut down the people who would be sadistically elated if they lose. And I want them to win so I don't have to deal with the negative fallout, which the Yankees would not deserve.

I guess HFA only counts when you're NOT the Yankees?

I guess being older and going on less rest is an issue only if you ARE on the Yankees?

I sure hope none of them is listening to the radio, watching television of reading any newspapers. I hope they are studying their daily affirmations, playing with their kids and whatever else they do on a game day.

The "pressure" is on the Phillies to win 2 games at Yankees Stadium. I just want to scream. Loudly.

With that, I promised myself I wouldn't hang out here all day. So, see y'all later.
