I have no problem with female announcers. I think Bonnie Bernstein and Erin Andrews (among others) are very good at their jobs and competent sports personalities. I don't immediately hear a woman's voice talking sports and tune them out like many men do.

However, Waldman brings absolutely nothing to the table and actually sets women back, IMO. Fewer women will get similar jobs because of how terrible she is at it.

it would also be nice to not have suzyn waldman represented.

*****

Maybe you don’t realize this, but Suzy is the first female broadcaster to call a World Series game. That may not be a big deal to you, but its very different for women in baseball than it is for men.

Men get jerseys and team t-shirt. Girls get pink ones.

Boys get to grow up dreaming of being Yankees. Girls know the best they can do is play little league.

Men like Michael Kay and all of the other broadcasters, are respected and listened to. Women like Erin Andrews get plastered indecently over the internet without permission and knowledge.

The double standard is not even funny.

So yes, please do put Suzy in the Hall of Fame

Fair enough. Can they at least include that she's absolutely pathetic at her job and probably only holds it through ill-gotten means?

Why does anything bearing Suzyn Waldman's name make it into the HOF? Do they want my TV remote while they're collecting useless crap?

There really is no rivalry between the Red Sox or the Mets. Both teams can’t compare to the Yankees in terms of success over the years. I don’t know why they call it a rivalry.
------------

right, not a rivalry.

more like the relationship between a hammer and a nail.

Looking at 2010 ......

On the bubble: Molina, Bruney, Hinske, Gaudin, Mitre.

Should be signed: Hairston

For Cashman to decide: Matsui or Damon, a free agent OF. A free agent pitcher ?

Start or relieve: Chamberlain, Hughes.

here are some ideas as far as moves the Yanks can and will consider in the offseason

firstly I'm of the opinion that the Yanks should let both Matsui and Damno move on.Two reasons why;
1-we need to continue to get younger, more athletic and in the process get cheaper as well
2-Damon and Matsui both will get 2-3 yr offers from other teams and we CANNOT even consider either for more than 1yr and cheap (ie 5-7mil...so assuming both are gone

Free Agents- Rick Ankiel is a very intriguing option to me as 2yr test...LH legit 35hr power bat who would give us a gold glove caliber CF next year and when AJax is ready Ank can slide over to right and be a gold glover there as well
an OF of Melky-LF/AJax-CF/Ankiel-RF would be prob the best in the majors defensively which makes your entire pitching staff that much better and although all are young developing hitters with the production we get from our infielders and Posada as a foundation for our offense we can afford to go through some learning curve pains as Long brings these guys along as hitters.

I am also all for giving Juan Miranda who we have under contract for '10 @ 500k an oppurtunity to win the primary dh role with this team...again he's shown himself to be a legit power rbi guy in our minor league system and has actually been an all star everywhere we've sent him (AA,AAA and AFL)and was a former star in Cuba...he could emerge next
year like Kendry did for the Angels this year if given a shot but at the minimum he's a legit lH power bat that murders RHP and in our stadium that plays big....

via trade some ideas are Josh Willingham for LF or Jeremy Hermidia who was a former #1 pick talent whose skillset is similar to Paul O'Niell and who could really blossom and realize his talents in the Bronx in our lineup. Again his tools great eye, more walks than Ks and LH power bat could really come through on our team and he's only 28...just some ideas

and for all of you guys who may look at the low batting average with guys like Ankiel or Hermidia remember Brosius wasn't a great player and had a low career BA before coming to us but for 4 years he sure was a great Yankee...Thoughts?

CR9

If only MLB was like European soccer, then the Yanks would truly be the financial giant they deserve to be.

What the media refuses to report, mainly because it doesn't further their anti-Yankee bias, is that the Yanks are at a financial disadvantage because they have pay their players significantly more in order to equal the amount free agents are offered for other teams because of the state tax rates and cost of living in New York.

So when CC gets 162 million over 7 years, that equals about 135 to 140 million over 7 years from a team in California or Florida. So it isn't like we are outbidding other teams, we are just matching their offer by giving the free agent player equal spending power.
