Going to the parade?
I bet you are, at least a good many of you. If so, I’m your man.
I’ll be down in the Canyon of Heroes tomorrow, along with a photographer, and we’re looking for local fans who will be there soaking it all in. So, if you have plans to attend the celebration along with three million of your closest friends and you’d like to talk about it, shoot me an e-mail tonight or in the morning at jthomson@lohud.com.
I’ll respond to as many people as I can and look forward to meeting a few of our loyal readers.
UPDATE: Let me know where you’re from in the e-mail. We’re looking for fans from all over our coverage area.

What’s the pay?
If they have a parade in CC’s hometown of Vallejo, CA, I’d be happy to cover it for the LoHud blog — no charge.
And special congrats to Joe Girardi, who has vaulted to number three on the list of all-time Yankee Joes!

I don’t know what to do. I won’t be able to go downtown till 9am or so. I’m sure it will be packed by than.
I’m going around 9am how early is everyone else going?
Hello all…
I have a parade dilemma. I am still giddy, exhausted, thrilled (every adjective you can think of!)from last night’s win. As the day has progressed today it seems that what started off a dru cough from screaming last night has reverted to a hacking cough and it has only gotten worse as the day progressed.
My intentions were to go to the parade regardless but just thought i would get a second opinion from all the fine Yankee folks on here. What do you all think?

GO FOR IT!
my 14-year-old son and i are coming in from bergen county. been a regular reader for a long while, from pete through to you guys. we’re leaving here at 9, plan to park in midtown and take the subway down to the parade route.
Sorry, didn’t see the new thread.
RAB has recognized our old pal Pete for making one of the dumbest comments of the year – way back on March 25th.
It just so happens that Pete was responding to me after I suggested that the Yanks couldn’t win the WS this season without A-Rod.

I’m one of those people who believes this blog is far better off now than it was 5 weeks ago.
Better coverage and fewer cheap shots, nonsensical rants, and dead horse beatings.
Congrats again to everyone. I’ve been smiling for almost 24 hours straight now. Opening day seems like yesterday. Heres 99 year old Harry Heller on the diamondvision opening day for those who were there: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=odKIPxuBYNY
Trust me because I went before that lots of people are going to be there extremely early – meaning prior to 9.
Then again Rudy Giuliani was still the mayor @ the time and encouraged all the kids to cut school and come on down to celebrate!

What time would you recommend getting there?

So the market on Matsui will exceed $10 million, if he’s comparable to those guys? Will the Yankees offer him that–I’m not sure.
————————————————————
As I mentioned earlier, I’d guess that Matsui would get an offer of around 7 mil for one year and incentives plus a team option and Damon maybe 8-9 mil for two years and a team option. I haven’t heard anything…just a wild guess.

He twisted your words around. Your belief was we could not win with the current team without A-Rod and he exaggerated it into we can never win without Arod.
Pete had a knack for twisting people’s words around. And plagiarizing them, too.
There are other blogs that have caught him stealing their ideas and have questioned him, only to be threatened by him.
Meet me on Broadway at 10:30.
I’ll be the guy wearing the Yankee hat.

I’ll be there at 9. I am the girl with dark heair and the fleece jacket. My big feet will be a giant giveaway
Anybody want to guess the 2010 Yankee’s opening day lineup?
Just a suggestion to those that are lucky enough to go view the parade live and wanting to get a spot….hire one of the board whinos like Tom to go and hold a spot for you. It’s not like they have much going on in their lives anyway, and obviously could use the money. Burger King doesn’t pay a lot.

Yankees win the World Series and are having a parade tomorrow.
But some people are still taking shots at Pete. Unbelievable.
Pete has moved on. So should you.
Does anyone know if YES is covering the parade?
How cool is this pic?

**VT, yes, YES is covering it. I’m not sure if they start at 10 or 11 am, check YES.com. MLB is also covering it
In the AFL today, Ian Kennedy had sort of an average game: 5 innings, 4 hits, 3 runs, 2 earned runs, 3 walks, 2 strikeouts, 1 WP, 1 home run allowed. No decision.
Brandon Laird: 3-4, with 2 runs scored (14), 1 double (5), 1 homer (5), 3 RBI (20). He’s hitting .354, SLG .632 and OBP of .417.
No other Yankees played today.

WS, I would suggest the earlier the better. Not sure where you are traveling from but I am hoping to be there no later than 7:30.
The reason I say this is because of the police and crowd control (they are expecting 3 million people). The Canyon of Heroes is roughly 20 blocks so as they fill up a block the police will in essence “close” that block and make people walk uptown. I’m not sure if this helps but good luck!
Fine article…….lol and amazingly, I forgot that Mo had surgery during the off-season!

but you have picked up about 35 stolen bases and a beautiful set of eyes (at least thats what the chicks on the blog say)
Thanks Betsy. I’m working, so I’ll record it.

SS- Jeter

1B- Tex
3B- Arod
LF- Holliday
2B- Cano
C – Posada
RF- Swisher
CF- Cabrera
Not saying this is what they should do, just what I think they will do…
Folks, can we get through a day where people arent talking about Pete ?!?! Geeez. The guy has moved on. We just won the freaking World Series. Why cant people be happy and not worry about what Pete is doing? I dont get the obsession.
GB, thanks for the updates!
I went to the parade in ’99. I’m really looking forward to going again tomorrow.

VT, you’re welcome! I’m working too, but at least I can hear it on the radio. I’ll keep the my tapes to watch over the long, cold winter……

GB, thanks for the updates!

My pleasure, Betsy. Jesus Montero hasn’t been playing, but, I can’t find out whether he’s hurt again or not.
My wife & I are coming into the city from Massachusetts for the parade. Would love to meet other Lohuders there too!
It’s our first parade. Can anyone suggest a good viewing place? Is it better to be on the street or at City Hall Plaza? Thanks!
I’m not from the local area, but I’ll be there! I’m hoping I’ll get to see something…but I have a feeling I will just be enjoying the atmosphere.
I work in one of the Federal building so I will have a view from my desk… but I am still going down to the street to party!
