The Jay-Z is one busy man

Jay-Z was a part of the Yankees victory parade on Friday. I know this because he walked right past me and I have the blurry cell phone photo to prove it.
Turns out, it’s been quite the past few days for the man formerly known as Shawn Carter.
On Thursday, Jay-Z performed with U2 in Berlin. For those of you scoring at home, Berlin is in Germany and Germany is far, far away.
Maybe the U2 performance was taped another night and only aired Thursday — I’m hardly an expert on Mtv Europe — but Jay-Z was certainly in Germany not too long and still made it to the Yankees parade on Friday. That’s kind of cool.
As for the guy Jay-Z was with in the parade, Alex Rodriguez wore some questionable headgear — guys like him seem to pull it off better than the rest of us — but he seemed genuinely moved by the experience of riding through the Canyon of Heroes.
“I’ve never seen so many people collected in one place,” he said. “It just seemed like they were as hungry as we were. The fans really wanted this. They were a huge factor for us all year. To think that we only loss less than 10 games (at home) after the all-star break, tells you how important they were as one of our main weapons.”

I like Jay-Z the mogul better than Jay-Z the celebrity.
When is the media going to talk about the other Jay-Z? Jason Zillo? I’d love to hear about him.
Here’s Adam Sandler bragging about “his” Yankees. Good stuff with an A-rod gets dissed story:
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.c.....index.html
Jay Z means nothing to me, lol………guess he’s not my kind of music. He does look like Doc Gooden, though – amazingly so.
That came out more abrupt than I wanted it to. I meant to say that I am clueless about this guy – I suppose he’s pretty popular, no?
Wish the floats had the names of the Yankees that were riding on them.

Didn’t like the hats that were worn by Alex and Melky.
Hi folks,
We did it.
Agree w/previous comments on re-signing Matsui and Damon. It actually does not contradict our desire to get younger, and here’s why: we wouldn’t be signing either guy for more than 2 years, I believe.
If we took on Holliday or Bay – both hit the wrong way for the Stadium and both are at least 30, I believe – they’d want multi-year deals, blocking the path to the Bronx for AJax and possibly guys like Medchill, Romine, and even DeLeon – who could be ready in 3-4 years – it’s impossible to predict how quickly these kids will or won’t develop.
Once again, it really comes down to these two guys BOTH being LHB – our Stadium is built for lefties to tee off in – I knew coming home Game 6 was in the bag because our lefties were hitting the ball on the nose down in Philly.
Left-handed power hitting at home is NOT something we can sleep on, and Matsui proved that DH-ing leaves him refreshed and focused for hitting. The guy is just a pro – that PHHR in Philly was a master stroke by a guy who is always ready.
Also, w/Damon re-signed, we know he can’t play every day; fine. We run him on and off the field, and if AJax accelerates his learning curve, we bring him up and ease him in in LF here and there.
I say re-signing those guys preserves the “get younger” plan going forward, because we look for short-term deals for these guys who won with us and pave the way for our promising young OF in the system.
Anyone here know if CC already appeared on Leno? It’s already 45 mins into show. Thanks.
Betsy
Jay Z is a very big rapper. He is also married to Beyonce and owns Rocawear, a very popular clothing line that is sold at Macys among other stores.
A question for the Blogsterites, Chad/Josh/Sam. Who, if anyone will be covering the winter meetings for LOHUD in Indianapolis 7-11 December? Thanks for the work you guys have done so far.
They lost 10 games at home after the ASB. THAT IS SICK!
CC on Leno right now.
wassup guys, here’s the pics that I took from the parade: I got the best spot even though I got there at 10:30. LOL..
http://www.flickr.com/photos/2.....8789/show/
(if you cant see whose who, click on the pic for description.)
CC and a bunch of the Yanks were at the Knicks game. You sure he was supposed to be on Leno?
Hes on right now man…
On this site under ‘PARADE PHOTOS’ it says ‘ABOUT THIS BLOG’ where it refers to the Yankees as 26-time World Champs. Please correct this!
Yeah, watching him, thanks Carl.
phil,
I think dave films in the day.
“The trophy is definitely back in the right place.”
The pre and post-Game 6 Joey Salvia “Oh Andy” versions were classics.
Gotta say – never doubted Big Lefty.

Yeah, but, one of those losses was in the post season. That dispicable blight on the record falls clearly on Kate Hudson for not cheering loud enough.
One of the reasons the Stadium crowd noise is so inconsistent is the tyranny of the big screen.
The fans can’t really get anything going, because there’s relentless music and Yankee high-lights – there’s no space for breathing or getting going and spreading chants through the ballpark.
I think this hurts the Yankees. You really get this if you’re there all the time. They need to allow the crowd to do its thing more.

Under the parade photos box:
“About this blog
Thoughts and discussion on the 26-time World Champion Yankees.”
Might want to change that 26 to 27. =D
LOL. Melky looking like a Latino Peter Lorre on the float.
http://www.heraldnews.com/news.....-situation
Here is a funny story!!!!!!
The Yankee fan’s name is “Longchamps”.
Best sign at the parade:
“Sorry Jimmy, we’re not the Mets.”
anyone else not able to get into the parade? all roads were closed off… I was only able to see it on the Big screen. guess I may have gone a little too late! will have to remember that for next time!
According to the Globe, Boston was interested in Hardy but were told by the Brewers it would take Buccholz or Bard to talk.
Melky looked hilarious in his fedora, lol……….I missed AJ throwing the toilet paper, though – anyone know what network that was captured on?
YES is replaying the parade, etc……..tonight; I plan to watch it tomorrow and go to Modells to pick up some stuff. I got the official hat and a sweatshirt, but it’s not the sweatshirt I want (the official one, which all the guys are wearing). Hopefully Modells will get some more in tomorrow as they ran out today………
That makes no sense, Pat. The Brewers demanded Bucholz or Bard, but then took Carlos Gomez? LOL Maybe teams are finally going to try and hold the Sox over a barrell (a Sox tax) just like they do with the Yankees…….finally!
Not being “with it” I too thought Jay-Z was the Doc until my wife dispelled me of such an archaic notion.
I felt like John Sterling looked.
betsy- better go tomorrow. Lots of stuff is sold out! I got the last one in the store that the players were wearing!
Co-worker told me that Philly workers were shipped into Modells NYC stores. And the one that I was at in jersey people from Virginia were brought in.
anyone know if the Yankees cleaned out their lockers today?
Jen, definitely going; I just hope they don’t run out again – the official gear is fantastic looking, better than what I have now.
“The Brewers demanded Bucholz or Bard, but then took Carlos Gomez?”
————
I am sure the Brewers would have settled for less than Bard or Buchholz.
I question the validity of that rumor. It sounds more like the Red Sox giving their fans an excuse as to why they couldn’t pull off the trade.
Another problem the Sox have, they are running out of prospects that aren’t untouchable but still have value.
Any Sox prospect who has promise is “untouchable” for the Sox.
tough to make trades when you have scant talent that is actually available for trade.

Betsy,
push come to shove, you can order that sweatshirt from mlb.com
Rose, I meant to thank you for the info on Jay -Z – I’m so out of touch, lol
BD, true……..If they don’t have it tomorrow, I will do just that; I don’t feel like driving around Long Island. I want to get a nice, comfy sweatshirt for winter and a cool t-shirt for summer…….The cap is just very cool; I’m going to get a lot of use out of that.
So boston.com/exrea bases blog has a poll asking between the Yankees Sox,which is the team of the decade.GUESS WHO WON the team of the decade? YANKEES 53.6% to46.4%
Yankees 2 WS titles,4 league titles(pennants,)8 division titles,965 wins,597 winning percentage.
Sox 2 WS titles,2 league titles(pennants,)1 division title,920 wins,568 winning percentage.
Even they couldn’t lie to themselves when faced with cold hard facts .PLEASE GO VOTE,no registration required.
MEANT EXTRA bases blog!
http://www.nytimes.com/2009/11.....ref=sports
A very reflective Cashman……..man, I’m very sentimental. Whenever Cash refers to these guys as a band of brothers, I get teary-eyed, especially in this context (that this may be the last time they are all together)
Too bad Jay Z is a racist:
http://michellemalkin.com/2009/01/19/feel/
The parade was supposed to be about the Yankees. Jay Z had no business being up there.
I love going back and seeing what the so called expert’s pre-season picks were. Check it out if you want to see what they thought back in April.
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.c.....index.html
JeterHughesJoba,
What a coincidence…Cuz I happen to think that Michelle Malkin is a racist. Funny how things work out sometimes.
Run along now.
ps…and please keep this garbage off LoHud.
So Jay Z sings a song about how “No more white lies; my president is black” and that’s ok?
Clearly Malkin is the racist for reporting it??
Sometimes the truth hurts.
Grow up.
But seriously, keep this drivel off the board.
You should try respecting my opinion instead of getting so argumentative.
I don’t like the guy and think that he has no business being in the parade. I think it should be about the players and their families; not racist rappers.
It’s my opinion and frankly I’m sick of seeing all the Jay Z worshipping from those like yourself. Just thought I’d add alittle perspective to who the guy really is, someone I find to be quite offensive.
What fool listens to michell malkin, another GOP HACK?
She’s married to a bigot!!
Jay Z worshipping? Hardly.
For your point to have the slightest chance of being taken seriously, you’ll have to do better than posting an article from michellemalkin.com… What, Glenn Beck’s blog hasn’t touched on the “situation” yet?
Stick to Yankees baseball, Championship celebrations, etc etc…maybe your comments will have greater appreciation at the LoHud Race-Baiting Blog.
JAYZ has a great reputation and helps a lot of charities.
He’s no racist,if your source is Michell Malkin, jokes on you!
BEYONCE AND JAYZ with all their wealth give back, not a hint of racial anything with him.
So since it’s from Malkin’s blog do you think she simply made it up?
Do you believe that Jay Z said those lyrics? There’s a link on that page where he can even listen for yourself?
Do you think they are acceptable lyrics?
Just like the NFL players having a problem with that evil, racist Rush Limbaugh, I have a major problem with the real racist, Jay Z.
Here’s even a “non GOP hack” site for you:
http://www.nypost.com/p/sports.....HRjyLzHQjJ
“Jay-Z, the rapper and rap impresario, and a part owner of the NBA Nets, is among the most popular artists and influential entrepreneurs to have resurrected the “N-word,” helped return it to the mainstream when it was, at long, shameful last, nearly dead.
The Revs. Jackson and Sharpton, who apparently only hear with one ear and see with one eye, must have missed all that about Jay-Z (real name, Shawn Carter; Limbaugh, if he has a street name, keeps it to himself). Otherwise, they surely would have demanded that NBA Commissioner David Stern reject Jay-Z’s application for inclusion.”
Hypocrisy at its best!
Why has all the bigots and racist supporters migrated to this Yankees blog?
Where is this narrow minded garbage coming from?
You come on a Yankee blog spewing GOP hate, this isn’t the forum for that vitriol!!
Go back and look at the commenting guidelines on the right side,NO POLITIICS,touted here.
WE Celebrate the Yankees here!!
Hilarious.
He goes from Michelle Malkin to the New York Post.
Yes, the New York Post…That bastion of journalistic integrity!
Anyways, why cant you just talk about something that people care about…like whether to bring back Damon or Matsui…or both?
Yankees like his image, they are an image conscience organization, stay in your small world,NY doesn’t have a problem with him.
Oregon has its large share of hate groups, this I know. You sound just like them, spew division somewhere else.
Yankees had a phenomenal season do you have anything good to say about that?
I wouldn’t have mentioned any “politics” if Jay Z wasn’t thrust into the middle of parade where he didn’t belong or if the thread wasn’t about him.
The guy is offensive to me. It’s funny that both of you attack the sources that I linked to, but neither of you can refute them. Seems like a common theme, attack the source when you cannot win the argument on substance.
I’ll be happy to talk about Damon/Matsui as soon as the Jay Z threads stop appearing.
Jay Z is the one constantly using the “N word” and rapping about “No more white lies, my president is black” yet I’m the racist??
Unbelievable.
THIS IS NOT THE PLACE FOR YOUR POLITICS,BIGOTRY!!
Your not intelligent enough to be a Yankee fan, that’s for sure.Beantown could use you, hurry they need a reason to hate too!!
I hear all races refer to lies as little white lies.He a black man that’s proud his president is black,so what,it’s a first.
Yankees won do you even care? Talk about that!!
michell the bigot has a blog,go there for your rant.
NY Post owned by Rupert Murdoch, nuff said!!
Forget politics, we’ve got something important to discuss. I’d never heard “Empire State of Mind” until this WS and the parade ceremony. When I looked up the lyrics, this is how the chorus starts:
“In New York, concrete jungle where dreams are made of/There’s nothing you can’t do. . . ”
How the heck does that first line parse? Where dreams are made of what?
I think the phrase “dreams are made of” is just so ingrained from The Maltese Falcon that whoever wrote the song just stuck it in there hoping no one would notice, but it should just be “. . . where dreams are made,” or some change to make it scan better.
Hey JeterHughesJoba, since the public education system obviously failed you, let me school you on a few things.
Tim Wise, to wit: …you have to understand the reasons why rap music sometimes, peddles images of violence, or lyrics that are sexist. If 80% of all rap music purchases are made by whites (and that is the conventional wisdom), then white consumers must be responding, via their purchases, to an already held impression of black people. Without such a pre-existing mental schema firmly in place, the images of blacks as gangstas, pimps, dealers and “hos” wouldn’t resonate nearly so much as to make possible billions of dollars of sales annually. In other words, perhaps whites need to consider the possibility that the thug image has been marketable, and thus created a financial incentive for black artists to play to that trope because these images comport with the negative things that much of white America believes about blacks in the first place. Things which they believed, it should be noted, long before Cool Herc threw his first house party in the Bronx.
If white folks were interested in buying CDs by rap artists who sang about radical social transformation and community uplift, and yes there are many, many such artists out there, then that’s the music that would be churned out in larger numbers. But white consumers aren’t, by and large, looking to buy songs about overthrowing the system from which we benefit. White boys in the stale and lifeless ‘burbs would rather listen to songs about guns and drugs, and being a thug, through which music they can live a more exciting life, if only in their fantasies. So in the ultimate irony, it is white buyers who make that kind of rap profitable, but instead of asking for any responsibility from them, we blame the artists for doing what they’re supposed to do in a capitalist system, which is respond to market demand, no matter the social consequences. Naturally, of course, it isn’t capitalism that gets the blame but rather, the black folks who have taken the bait offered by the market system.
Second, Jay-Z claiming that Obama is black even though he’s half-white is a concept created by whites which was actually passed AS LAW. Please look up “One Drop Rule” (I’ll make it easy on you: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/One-drop_rule )on Wikipedia. This law was struck down several years AFTER the passage of the Civil Rights Act. And while such a barbaric law may not continue to exist, the practice of labeling anyone who is part black, no matter how small, as black is still a practice employed by most whites.
And if in this day and age you still can’t grasp the concept of blacks using the “N” word as a way to try to remove the offensive power from the word, which was created by whites, well then you’ll never get it.
You’re an astoundingly ignorant man who hasn’t the slightest clue about blacks, the black experience in America, or the racist history of this country which affects present day life in America for those who aren’t white.
So run back to your little Malkin blog and keep listening to Glen Beck. Keep letting other ignorant people do your thinking for you instead of using your own brain to research subject matter before opening your piehole to talk about things which you obviously haven’t the slightest clue about.
Propaghandi,
Excellent post. Gotta stamp this sort of drivel out as soon as it appears.
Well done!
I saw Jay-Z and Arod (and some others) having dinner together last night at Nello on the Upper East Side after the parade.
Arod was still wearing his hat!
I’m white, and have heard many other whites use the little white lie phrase, are they racist too?
Talk about people drinking hater~ade keep reading that GOP crap they got you mentally, where they want you, stuck in stupid!
If you know ANYTHING about the Yankees marketing their image,to everyone, you’d rethink your bigotry.
So great to see Yankees not tolerating bigots on this site.As a Yankees fan we get nonsense all the time, just for being a Yankees fan.No Yahoo will come here dragging their personal bigoted vendetta against a person, and expect this forum to accept that divisive talk.
Yankees just won a WS,after 8 long yrs,and this is the garbage you write about?
You quote malkin, and a murdoch’s nypost both GOP MOUTH PIECES ,as your source pawleeze!!
Get outta here!
I liked Arods hat, very pimp.
All I did was expose Jay Z for who really is. I’m here to talk about the Yankees, not read about Jay Z.
Nice job shooting the messanger though. Says alot about you guys.
You would think liberals would be alot more tolerant of other opinions.
Final question, how would any of you feel if it was Rush Limbaugh on that float?
the yankees LOVE jay-z…..as do the majority of ppl in “this town.” It’s not the “unofficial anthem” for no reason… enough said, haters.
You lose JHJ.
what was wrong with arod and melky’s hat?
