CC is a fantastic teammate, but the great thing is that he's not the only one; this team is made up of great guys...

Detroit will be active in the trade market in December or possibly before.
Even with Sheffield money coming off the books, the Tigers will need to be payroll conscious. Their meltdown in late September did not sit well with their depressed fanbase.

Funny how the rumors about Granderson and Jackson coming out bring out a comment that the Tigers are not having a fire sale. With the economy and lack of the Tigers doing very well after that monster trade that was supposed to make them invincible, I tend to think that they are going to look to sell off what they can for cheaper talents.

If the Yankees re-sign Damon, get Granderson, I could see Melky and Swisher and Damon doing some platoon work.

Wow. Unbelievable to think CC would do that. Even with him racking in all that money. Great job.

okay...if Damon is asking for a 3+ year deal, i dont give it to him, as badly as i want him, i dont.

I would only sign pettite and matsui/damon, the trade market looks more appealing, even though it costs us our farm.

I would trade for an Edwin Jackson and Curtis Granderson package... Joba, Ajax, Melky, Ian Kennedy, Austin Romine and Betances or Brackman?
****that trade will fill our 2 needs...
roation:
CC
Edwin Jackson
Aj
Pettite
Hughes

Lineup:
Jeter SS
Damon LF
Granderson CF
Arod 3B
Tex 1B
Matsui DH
Posada C
Cano 2B
Swisher RF

"The Granderson talk is interesting. I wonder if his lack of stolen bases stems from him taking a bit to get up to speed. He has an unusual gate to his running. He has a long stride better suited to longer distance compared to being a sprinter type.

"

Interesting thought. I just assumed he doesn't run too much because he usually has some very good hitters behind him.

The Tigers have 100M in payroll obligations for 2010 already, and most of the big salaries on their payroll cant be traded. Jackson, Laird, Zumaya & Verlander are also due raises in arbitration. If they kept all 4, they would have to add 20M to their payroll.

Unemployment in Detroit is over 15% with no end in sight and their attendance dropped 19% from 3.2M to 2.6M this year. They also lost sponsorship deals from the local US automakers.

Granderson &/or Jackson will be traded...
