Erin -

I actually can't wait to see the movie. It just always bothers me how when they make musicals into movies, the singing is a secondary consideration. I understand, they want to attract people to the theater and someone unknown (well, unknown in Hollywood) isn't going to do that no matter how well they sing. I mean, even Julie Andrews, who was the original Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady, had to take a back seat to Audrey Hepburn, and then the lady who actually did the singing got no film credit.

It's just that Hollywood doesn't really make stars anymore, do they?

(And I have never understood people's attraction to Nicole Kidman, but that's just me.)

There's a magazine out this month (I forget which one) with a picture of 4 of the "Nine" ladies on it wearing gorgeous magenta gowns - it looks stunning.

cashman let everyone know that matsui can only dh to drive interest down

it remains to be seen if matsui gets mad & takes that as a challenge

damon cant play the o.f. anymore either

we can live with him out there if his bat is ok but if it is not we lose a dh & an o.f.

i like matsui coming back for a year
damon no.

i think cash will offer 1 or both 1 year deals & set a max dollar amount then move on

grandersons lh ab will hurt us but we get better defensively.

i would also like to get another pitcher but lackey worries me.

i can see cash trading one of hughes/joba for a pitcher but not both

Doreen-I've heard Kate's been getting rave reviews for Nine. I'm anxious to see it-I think it looks really good.

As for the rumors they broke up, I won't believe it 'til I see it in People. ;)

I don't believe Matsui cares about playing the OF.

He says he can and wants to in order to increase his attractiveness, especially to NL teams. I don't think he or Damon gets a multi-year guarantee from the Yankees with the amount of DH type talent out there. It's a pretty simple supply and demand calculation.

Acquiring Granderson makes a lot of sense, but it all comes down to the price. I'd be really hesistant to move Austin Jackson, but I'm sure he's the key guy. No way they get a high level pitcher unless it grows to include Edwin Jackson.

I'm curious about how the regulars here feel about the best young talent and who if anyone is "untouchable". My list of young guys I'd least like to trade in order is Hughes, Joba, Montero, Robertson, Jackson, McAllister, Romine and Nunez.

Re: ARod - why assume ARod broke it off? She could have. Or maybe it wasn't a "serious" relationship, but just a lot of fun for both of them while she as on hiatus between films.

I still can't believe she's in "Nine." Not a single serious singer in the lot of actresses, and that is a very serious singing musical. Well, I suppose the overdubbers are going to be very busy. :)
