Re: Boxing vs MMA

Since MMA came along, watching a boxing match to me is kinda like watching Tiger Woods play a round of golf with only his 7 iron. He has so many weapons to use but he is only using one.

Pacquiao is unbelievable and a lot of fun to watch but when I watch him I know that BJ Penn would have him twisted into a pretzel in about 2 minutes in an MMA fight and that diminishes it a bit for me.

FEWER boxing fans, not LESS.

I never understand how journalists get that wrong,

every game the announcers on tv say how a player has less RBIs, etc. It kills me.

Regarding Joe Torre by stealing a few words from my guy Cashmoney.

"You can call him anything you want, but one day you'll be calling him a HOF manager"

Torre is this baseball generation's Casey Stengel that had a spotty managerial career prior to coming to the Yankees, but became a winner once he had great players. There isn't any manager that won consistently without such players. Sure, some have made a run for a pennant with a so so team, but nobody made a managerial career of doing such a thing. The closest I can remember a manager of doing so is Billy Martin, but he would eventually kill his team or his players wanted to kill him, but he's still not in the HOF because of his other demons that shorted out his career and led to him to be fired as various team's managers.

I'll go as far as saying Isiah Thomas is a better coach than him, Reggie Theus is a better coach, Byron Scott, Stan Van Gundy, Spolstra in Miami, Sam w/e his name is from Toronto, the Bulls new coach. I can continue but it's really not fair, well he'd be put over some names in the NBDL but that's about it.

What makes you think that Lawrence Frank can coach? You just did what Tim Floyd calls a premature leap to position. He hasn't proven at all that he can be a consistant coach, had Vince Carter, couldn't do a damn thing w/ him, Harris and company. Had Richard Jefferson basically saving his butt most of the time. Srsly dude he's horrible, the fact he's an NBA coach just should give hope to underachieving NCAA basketball coachs, yes he learned under coach Knight, that is about the only reference he has to being an NBA coach.

What makes you think Sean Williams can do anything else but jump? You just did what Joe Posnanski calls a mockabet. It's completely unprovable, and there's really never been anything to show he can translate his athleticism into basketball skill.
