i disagree at this point that Gardner is a 4th of’er…I’d like to see him do extra work this offseason with Kevin Long on using his lower half more in his swing to drive the ball more
====

I've said this many times myself; he needs to completely change his approach. He swings like a power hitter. Let's see what magic KLong can work on him.

Gardner’s misplay of Ibanez’ ball was almost entirely due to positioning. He was playing incredibly shallow because Rivera doesn’t let up booming fly balls, he lets up bloops.
======

Well, this sort of proves the point that he's not an elite CF. Playing shallow was the way they tried to go with him when he first took over CF.

It did not work - because despite all the buzz about his speed, he ain't the second coming of Andruw Jones - he's not even BJ Upton, really - and he cannot play shallow and use his speed on backflight like these players can.

The Yankees finally recognized this, to their credit, and now he routinely plays deeper when he's out there.

And the positioning is valid only in that the ball was probably not catchable.

It does not, however, explain away that he turned the wrong way on pursuit, and that he often turns the wrong way.

"Now let’s get rid of the DH".

Say what?!?!

Is this an attempt at sarcasm?

If given 500abs and he hits .280/.380obp/7hrs/70 rbis/100runs/50+sbs from the 9hole and a very good defensive LF that would be more than enough to replace Damon's production imo
