NOOOOO...keep Swish around. That guys worth his money for his spirit alone. Not to mention he put up pretty solid numbers this year out in right. I know hes not the best right fielder but the last thing I want to see the Yanks do is start getting rid of these integral character players for more big time superstars ( a la the early 2000's when the Yanks became a souless bunch of mercs). Keep the Swish Dog.

It's strange to see Swisher on the block, since the Yanks don't know if they'll re-sign Matsui or Damon. At this moment, the Yanks have a potential shortage of outfielders. Swisher is a decent fielder with an OPS+ of 129 last year, and he also plays 1B. Would the Yanks consider trading Swisher + prospect(s) for Granderson?

I find it hard to believe people put any stock in UZR, I mean this is the statistic that tells us Kendry Morales, Miguel Cabrera, and Paul Konerko are better than Mark Teixeira. I mean, come on

Steveoh, once again the rubbish that is the UZR is displayed with the rating that Juan Rivera is given…….He’s terrible in the OF, in fact he’s yanked in the late innings for a defensive upgrade …..He still has a solid stick though, however he’s a dh, and I’d much rather have Mats back…

---

So it's just a coincidence that he is surrounded by Carl Crawford and David DeJesus? Their UZR's are meaningless as well? It's also a coincidence that we all know that Damon is a poor LF'er and his UZR is -12.1? I don't see any reason why Juan Rivera would have a vastly incorrect UZR relative to those others.

That said, I'm not proposing the Yanks try to get him, just saying he may not be a bad fielder.

SJ44 I completely agree

Really curious about Sheets because he's better than Peavey if healthy and while he has a relationship in Texas, not sure pitching down there has ever been good for anyone's career.

It'll almost certainly come down to who guarantees the most $$

They aren't perfect fits for the money it will cost to have them in the bullpen.

The Yankees bullpen is cheap and very effective.

Rafael Soriano is going to get over 6 million dollars on the open market. Don't see the Yankees going there for him.

They already have 2 lefties in the bullpen. They don't need Mike Gonzalez.

That kind of money can sign Ben Sheets or go to upgrade the OF. It would be wasted in the bullpen since the bullpen is already a strength of the team.

I can’t see NYY giving up 1st round draft picks for middle relief pitchers like Soriano and Gonzales. They may be decent, but, they aren’t first round pick decent.
*********************************************************
Soriano and Gonzales are more than decent pitchers...especially Soriano....

as for the picks i doubt that Atlanta offers arb to both players and would least likely offer it to Soriano for fear that he might accept it a be awarded a raise over the 6.3mil he made last year. he'd prob get 8-9mil and the Braves don't want to be stuck with that kind of salary for a closer. More likely that they offer arb to Gonzales who made 3mil last year as worse case scenario he accepts and they get him back to close for 1yr at about 5mil.

Soriano would be a perfect fit for our club as he's 29 same age as bruney but much better and has experience and success closing should Mo go down. A 2yr/10mil deal for Sori would allow the Yanks to move Hughes to the 5 spot and the bridge to Mo would be Soriano/Marte with DRob,Bruney,Coke,Ace and Melancon in front of those guys and on days that Mo wasn't available Soriano could close.

Lincecum

Cut your damn hair! You look like a girl!

There, said it.

Interesting they would consider moving Swish--cost controlled, 30 HR, switch hitting guy. Doubt the rumor is true.

Problem is, Arod and Kate are still dating so the "inside info" folks may have on this is incorrect.

But hey, its the off-season. Whatever you need to think to pass the day.

Since bullpen is not a weakness with the Yankees, I can't see them using good money for bullpen arms.

That sounds like the agents for Soriano and Gonzalez are feeding info to the media to drive up their clients prices on the open market.
