BTW, I would also go after Lackey, but I would put Hughes in the rotation and keep Joba in the pen.

First, everyone is gushing about Granderson (as they should) because he is a force against righties, but they are ignoringthe fact that he should not play against lefties. Sure, Long could work with him, but he still would not hit well enough to play. Perspective: Melky actually hit lefties better than righties last year .763 OPS, but even if you took the worst year of his last 3 years against lefties (2008 .578 OPS) it is slightly better than Grandersons last 3 years combined against lefties, OPS of .570. This guy should never start against a lefty until he has some breakthrough. This is why Cameron would be an excellent platoon guy.

BTW, I really like this trade as Granderson crushes righties (.940 OPS over the last 3 years), but we need to use him to his strengths.

I think the Yankees should go all in on Lackey.

This way you get to keep Joba,Hughes and Montero while knowing that Lackey can handle the Al East just fine

SR 2010:Sabathia,Lackey,Burnett,Pettite,Chamberlain
SR 2011:Sabathia,Lackey,Burnett,Chamberlain,Hughes

Just saw that there is a report that says the Phils may be willing to include cole Hamels in a trade for Halladay. I wouldn't do that, and certainly wouldn't if there is no extension..hamels is still young enough to figure it out again and be really good

Apparently the phillies have made an offer for Halladay. If Halladay goes to Philly then I think you can just about cancel the NL season for 2010. I just don't see anybody beating them in the NL with what they already have + Halladay.

Of course its better for the Yankees if he winds up in the NL if he doesn't come to them but if the ultimate goal is to win another world series then Halladay to the phils would significantly affect those Chances IMO

I need to re-calibrate my Chien-ming Wang Alert System -- I woke up thinking there was new information posted, but it's just a question.

Sigh.

Dec. 12 is the date by which Wang will either be tendered or non-tendered. If he's non-tendered, his fate might not be known for a while longer; he'll be a free agent.

Back to sleepyland.
