Remember Cashman did trade to get the top pick in the Rule V draft, and used that to get this kid. Presumably there was a good reason for that. Platoon time with Gardiner perhaps. At any rate, I don't see Cashman making a Rule V selection, much less trade for a higher pick, just to keep the kid on the 25 man major league roster. This one is going under the radar, and may explain the NYY not going hard for a LF, especially with the strength in the rest of the lineup.
