The latest stop for the World Series trophy came today at West Point. This picture seems to be a good way to end the day.

Here’s Boras latest version of what transpired with Cash over Damon via Jim Bowden:

    http://twitter.com/JimBowdenXMFOX

Scott Boras clarified the NYY/Damon negotiations w/me tonite. Cash told him 11/9 he would sign Pettitte 1st then call him on Damon.

call never came. Scott called cash on Dec 17th.Cash didn’t call and went after Nick Johnson instead. Those are the facts from Scott directly

Where was the Granderson deal in that, before the Johnson trade. Looks like Boras forgot a few details.

  15. Crawdaddy February 10th, 2010 at 8:39 am

As soon as the Yankees made the Granderson deal, Boras should’ve adjusted his strategy and took the best deal from the Yankees which would’ve been many days before December 17th. Boras blew it and is now in total spin control.

I don’t see why they don’t just give the Yankees the trophy and let them lend it out when they have to!

    :)

Also channel surfing very very late (waiting up for the snow like a kid waits for Santa) and tuned into MLB TV just in time to see a huge banner with Mo, Jete and Joe G across it. They were talking about the contract “issue”. It was short and sweet. They all know the Yankees will get it done and so therefore really considered it a nonstory.

Also, next Tuesday night they will have the countdown of the top 50 prospects. Could be top 100 not sure.

  18. upstate kate February 10th, 2010 at 9:06 am

Where is everyone this am? snowed in?

  19. Y's Guy February 10th, 2010 at 9:09 am

you know those downstaters, a measly foot or two of snow and they panic!

  20. JohnC February 10th, 2010 at 9:10 am

I’m at work right now, and I come from Dutchess County.

  21. Frank February 10th, 2010 at 9:10 am

“Also, next Tuesday night they will have the countdown of the top 50 prospects. Could be top 100 not sure.”

    Trisha,

They’ve actually already run their Top 50 prospect show several times now. Safe to say many Yankees fans found it to be disappointing as it was quite likely the only Top 50 list that had Jesus Montero out of the Top 10 (they had him at 19)

  22. bru February 10th, 2010 at 9:15 am

read an article last night & it said montero has no shot at catching.

  23. Bronx Jeers February 10th, 2010 at 9:17 am

I understand not giving players contract extensions.

Even players such as Derek & Mariano, given their age.

Managers I view a bit differently though. Especially in NY where potential lame duck status can become a distraction.

And Joe Girardi’s a hard working guy that certainly seems like he’s got the goods. He’s also built an impressive resume in a short time.

    I don’t see the harm.

  26. Frank February 10th, 2010 at 9:19 am

“read an article last night & it said montero has no shot at catching.”

    Who wrote it?

The top prospects lists that I’ve seen all acknowledge that he could end up being something other than a catcher, but rate him in the top 5-10 anyway.

  27. Frank February 10th, 2010 at 9:25 am

    Bronx Jeers:

Kind of agree. They can wait on Jeter and Mo, if for no other reason, because there is just about zero chance they’d use their free agency to sign with anyone but the Yankees.

Girardi? Wouldn’t shock me if he gets an extension sometime around the allstar break if things are going well.

  28. Y's Guy February 10th, 2010 at 9:33 am

I have no problem not giving girardi a contract extension. i think the whole ‘lame duck’ thing is stupid. The manager is under contract for this season, so let him manage this season and then give him a new contract after the season if you like how he did. What advantage is there to the Yankees to extend his contract before his current one ends? Should they be worried that if he becomes a ‘free agent’ manager that he will go someplace else? i think not.

And I’m a huge fan of Joe G. I think he’s the perfect guy to run this team. And I also think that his lack of whining about managing in the last year of a contract shows just why he is the right man for the job. Just do the job and worry about the contract when it expires. Besides, from Joe’s perspective, he will have alot more leverage if he’s a 2 time World Series Champion manager when it comes time for a raise.

Good morning all. About 2 inches on the ground so far in Queens. The wind is really starting to pick up.
How is everyone else doing so far?

Frank, hmmm. So maybe they were just announcing it for those who may not have seen it yet. Goes to show how much attention I’ve been paying! I am rendering to today what belongs to today. Next Tuesday I’ll watch the Prospect show – or tape it depending on what Olympic event may conflict with it!

Cool! Too bad you have to work-that puts somewhat of a damper on the snow day. ;)

Y’s Guy. Ditto everything you said in that post. And even though I know that Girardi will get a new contract, absolutely and unequivocally, no matter what happens this season, I also know that the Ys are going to win number 28 this year, so no sweat for Joe G.

Opinion question: If Jeter were out of the lineup for the entire season, could the Yankees will win the world series? I say yes but I wonder how others feel.

Today will be a television day for me. As unbelievable as this is going to sound, I am watching my first ever episode (rerun of course) of Friday Night Lights. I’m wondering if I am the only person in Yankee universe who had never seen it before.

  35. upstate kate February 10th, 2010 at 9:39 am

    Erica and Erin
I was thinking about you both this am. On the opening credits of sports center they had Elmo holding a sing that said:
    E Elmo
    S Says
    P ??
    N ??- didn’t catch the last 2 letters

Thanks for the pic, Chad. I’m a senior at West Point. I got my picture with the trophy yesterday. Glad the Yankees org decided to bring it up here.
