Erica -

I am "scratch" to a fault! BUT sometimes you just gotta take short-cuts! Ha ha!

I'm finding now that I have to look into the quicker-type stuff for my daughter, who is not really a cook, and so now I find myself in the interesting position of having to find the best quality mixes, and ready-to-go foods so she can prepare herself healthy, quality meals without having to fix everything from scratch. Not easy for me to do. Like, what are the best frozen veggies, frozen prepared dinners, cake/brownie/cookie mixes - with the least preservatives and "junk."

------

I enjoyed the Olympics. About 90%. Was starting to get olympic-ed out, so I guess it's good they're over now. However, that hockey game was absolutely amazing. I saw the last period and overtime. (Fortunately the drive home from Long Island was nowhere near as harrowing as the drive TO LI yesterday.)

------

Can't wait to find out what the outing is on Tuesday, and watching the first ST game on Wednesday. I am not taking any of this prep stuff seriously (Hughes v. Arod - )

Erica – you ended up making cinnamon buns, too?

You must have had some extra time on your hands.
***************

The cinnamon buns were ummm... not from scratch. After you gave me the tip about the Pillsury dough, when I went food shopping for supplies I saw they happened to be on sale. So I went for it.

I did the brownies last night and the buns this morning- I woke up a little unusally early for a Sunday

Funny you mention the big cookie though. My grandma used to bake a giant chocolate chip cookie for our birthdays instead of cake. I remember one year she brought it to my birthday party and everyone went nuts over it and I was really mad I had to share my big cookie. LOL

Pat M, it must have been fun dressing up like Richie Rich, even if it was just pretend. A little glimpse into Young Master Philip's childhood. ;)

You must have had some extra time on your hands. :)

You know what's fun to do? A giant chocolate chip cookie, that you cut into wedges like pizza. You can "ice" it with frosting, or write on it like a birthday cake, or dollop it with icing - decorate it. People always think it's fun and it's very, very easy.

Kate, actually it's all in this thread, but you know how quickly things get out of hand! Someone makes a serious comment, someone else makes a quip, and all of a sudden the entire thing is turned into a comedy.
